Pretty Steamboat OK Jul 02, 2011

Categories : Shanghainese | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hot Pot | Kids-Friendly

Xian De Lai was not new to me and my hubby as we had a few times of steamboat dinner at their Liang Seah Street outlet. The differences in these 2 outlets are the steamboat and as well as the price. Nex outlet's steamboat is individualized whereas the Liang Seah St's is those normal 2-types of soup base steamboat. With such arrangement, that is why Nex's pricing is higher as compared to the other.

The spicy chicken bits appetizer was really good and my mum learnt and cooked that at home for us now. tongue The dishes are ala-carte, so you just order whichever dishes you want for your steamboat. My hubby ordered the mutton slices and the mutton smell was too over-whelming that his whole steamboat has the mutton taste and smell even till the end of the dinner! So be careful, maybe the next time, leave the mutton slices to be last.

The special and unique selling point of this steamboat would goes to the noodles... they are packed in packs and you get to make your own noodles. See my picture uploaded. The prawn noodles are the best among all the flavours.

Have fun!

Another Halal Buffet Smile Jul 02, 2011

It was a group dinner gathering and we chosed this buffet restaurant as it was recommended by our Malay friend. The last time I had meals in this restaurant, it was not certified as halal yet. This halal certified restaurant really impressed me with their delicious spread of food.

The fresh oysters were fresh and were opened on the spot by the chefs. The salmon sashimi was fresh and tasted very good. They have a BBQ section where the BBQ squids were the most popular, once they are ready, they are gone! tongue

There is also a kebab section where mini kebab bread can be made instanly and this makes the buffet spread full of variety. The dessert section was impressive as well, with different types of cold and hot desserts to fight for our stomach space.lol There is durian pengat as well, but I still prefer the one at Ellenborough Cafe.

I had the Portuguese egg tart and it was really good, as it was still warm when I put it in my mouth. Roti prata with and without egg are also part of the buffet spread and all these go well with the hot teh tarik that was tarik-ed by the waitress on the spot.

Great halal buffet restaurant to recommend for multi-racial gatherings.

BBQ chicken wings Smile Jul 02, 2011

BBQ chicken wings

BBQ chicken wings

These BBQ chicken wings are BBQ-ed to the right timing. The skin of the BBQ chicken wings are crispy - like the suckling pig type, which is what the other stalls couldn't win my attention. The seasoning of the chicken wings makes the BBQ chicken wings taste so good. The chilli sauce that is accompanied tastes good as well, as it has a lemon-ly taste that can spice up the chicken wings further more.

Frozen Yoghurt - Tart with Granola

Frozen Yoghurt - Tart with Granola

The 1st frozen yogurt from Coffee Bean I had was from the Sentosa outlet last year and I wasn't ready for frozen yoghurt then. Since I have been liking frozen yoghurt, in a warm afternoon after my lunch, I was surprised and so happy to see the frozen yoghurt in the menu list of the Coffee Bean outlet at Rail mall!

I ordered the tart with granola topping. I was told that the tart has the sour taste, whereas the vanilla will be more of the sweeter version. I'm not sure of how the vanilla one taste though.

I am very satisfied with the one that I ordered. I love the creamy texture, and it has an unique creamy and milky aftertaste which I now proclaim it as my favorite frozen yoghurt. It was so good that I travel all the way from Hougang to Rail Mall the next day to have it again!

Plain Flavour with Cornflakes

Plain Flavour with Cornflakes

Recently I'm into frozen yoghurt and I was very pleased that the nearest shopping mall to my residence place has a Frolick outlet.

I tried the $3.90 plain yohgurt with a $1 topping of cornflakes. The frozen plain yogurt was with the right sourness and sweetness, however I find that the texture was not as good as the Yami Yoghurt. Moreover, I prefer to have granola with the frozen yoghurt and Frolick does not have granola as one of the topping variety.
