Braised Duck Rice. Cry May 13, 2013

Braised Duck Rice.

Braised Duck Rice.

I came on a Monday to this food centre and some stalls were closed on that day. I left with limited choice so i decided to give this stall a go.

I ordered a plate of basic duck rice with a braised egg added for $4.50. The portion of braised duck given was quite a fair bit and it served with yam rice. The braised duck egg tasted pretty normal. The disappointment set in when i tried the braised duck meat. It tasted tough and dry though the yam rice tasted alright.

I really did not like it so i left it unfinished.

Disappointing Fried Chicken. Cry Mar 05, 2013

Fried Chicken in Olive Oil.

Fried Chicken in Olive Oil.

I have been wanting to try this highly raved fried chicken in olive oil. You could imagine how excited i was when i seated there, ordered and eagerly waiting to eat it for the first time. My first bite was quite a disappointment. The chicken pieces were rather crispy but it tasted bland. No taste. Did they not marinate it first before they deep fried it? Or they purposely seasoned it too lightly to make it a healthier choice? I was disappointed. This is not my kind of fried chicken.

The mashed potato was the instant version made from the potato flakes. It was another disappointment.
The Menu.

The Menu.

I might try the other items on their menu but i will definitely skip their fried chicken in olive oil and mashed potato.

Chocolate Walnut Cake.

Chocolate Walnut Cake.

The box.

The box.

The shop.

The shop.

It was quite a challenge to locate the shop though it is just within walking distance from Khatib MRT. The exact location is just a few shops away from the coffee shop where my favourite tze cha stall - Happy Kampong is located. The shop space is shared with a shop selling different types of drinks and snacks. So, it might be an easy target to be missed out. The shop is manned by a Chinese speaking lady single-handedly. If you look carefully enough, there is a little signboard with 'Baker's Creation' printed on it at the top right hand corner right outside the shop.

I was there to collect the Walnut Dark Chocolate Cake that i ordered via email using an acquired voucher. It was a 1 kg dark chocolate cake that came coated with a layer of dark chocolate then topped with quite a few whole walnuts.

I was excited to cut it upon gotten home. Then, i realised the layer of chocolate was rather dry. It even cracked into pieces when i sliced it. After my first bite, it was a total disappointment. The chocolate tasted of artificial sweetness with only a slight chocolate taste. It did not have the bitterness that a dark chocolate should have. The texture of the sponge cake was equally dry.

I left the cake unfinished and discarded it. I guess this is most likely another one time off experience.

Chocolate Chips 'Cookie' Cry Jun 28, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean | Bakery | Desserts and Cakes

This is a giant chocolate chips 'cookie' for $1.00 from this bakery. It seemed to be value for money but the taste is quite a disappointment. The chocolate chips were only on the surface and none in the 'cookie' itself. It looked like a cookie but it did not taste like one. It tasted quite bland and the only taste is from the chocolate chips.

I left it unfinished.

Prawn Fritter. Cry May 30, 2012
Categories : Coffeeshop

It was the last piece left on the display shelf and i decided to get it for snack in the afternoon. This piece of prawn fritter was in a pretty odd shaped with a piece of an average sized prawn on it. I paid 0.60 cents for such a piece.

The taste was a disappointment. It tasted nothing close to my favourite stall in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 that closed down quite a long while ago. The edge and that piece of prawn tasted a little hard. I expected to find bean sprouts within the fritter but there is no sight of it. It might taste quite differently if eaten hot but it was a disappointment when eaten cold.

I am interested to try their other snacks next time but would be happily to skip this.
