Chickroom pie Smile Aug 31, 2013

This is the Chicken and Mushroom Pie ($8.95++). The pie contains succulent chicken chunks and button mushrooms in cognac cream sauce. I liked that there was so much sauce in the pie. The filling was very satisfying. The pie was soft, buttery and thin. The gravy on the mash was delicious as well and really complemented the sauce that was in the pie too. I will return to try other pie flavours!

Marinara combo Smile Aug 31, 2013

At PastaMania, students get a 25% discount between 12pm and 5pm. I got the Seafood Marinara ($11.50) and a Combo B which includes a drink and a soup. The soup that they offered was Minestrone Soup. The Minestrone Soup is tangy and contains lots of vegetables. You will get a variety of veggies in every scoop. The Seafood Marinara Linguine came after a few minutes. It contained prawns, squid, fish and mussels. I like the linguine for its smoothness and its ability to "pick up" the sauce. Prawns were succulent and crunchy but the squid was a little too rubbery.

honey milk tea Smile Aug 27, 2013

Although the craze for bubble tea has died down a lot, Gong Cha's business remains strong. The Gong Cha system requires you to order your drink first and collect it when the number on your receipt is being flashed on an LED screen. It resembles the system in a polyclinic. There are always people waiting around for their drinks in front of this GC outlet so expect to wait for a few minutes. I ordered the Honey Milk Tea ($2.90). For the honey milk tea, you can't choose your sugar level. The drink is creamy, smooth and the sweetness level is alright for me. This makes for a perfect beverage on a hot day!

Chickroom pizza Smile Aug 27, 2013

I visited this PastaMania outlet for lunch on a weekday. The tables were generally taken but it was not crowded. I ordered a 7" Chicken & Mushroom Pizza ($10.30). It took about 10-15 mins to arrive, slightly longer than pasta. No complaints though since they probably had to bake it in the oven. The pizza was nice and hot when it came. The crust was soft and it was not hard to tear away from the pizza. The serving of the mushroom was generous but I can't say the same for the chicken. I like the base sauce of the pizza. It seemed like a mix of tomato + cream. Would recommend this as a simple and light meal!

royal pudding Smile Aug 27, 2013

This is the Strawberry Royal Pudding ($4.50). It is a little pricey considering the small size of the bottle but once in a while, it makes for a perfect little treat. I love how soft the whole pudding feels. I think it is even softer than beancurd. I like how the strawberry gives it a tinge of sourness while the base of the pudding (which seems to be caramel) makes it much sweeter. Of course it is best served chilled! Paris Baguette is really thoughtful as they will give you a nice aluminium-like bag to store your takeaway pudding in. Would come back for other pastries!
