Worrying where to go for lunch when working in CBD area?

Drop by Boat Quay which is also accessible through Raffles Place for an awesome lunch before getting back to work.

London provides lunch set meal which cost less than $10 for a main dish, soup as well as a drink. It definitely bring me back to London where I had sandwiches for my meals. The ambiance was great, quiet and most suitable to chill out after work or during lunch breaks.

As the picture shows, it is fresh and delicious. I love the roasted potato, freshly cut and crunchy.

The mushroom soup wasn't commendable. It was not as thick as I thought it would be. However, it was still good coming along with the toast bread.

A good hangout place!

Chef B Western Delight

Working in Tanjong Pagar also means that you are being exposed to a lot of good and cheap food!

Mainly the hawker center at Amoy Street and Maxwell Hawker Center.

Today, I will be sharing with you on Chef B Western Delight at Amoy Street. They serve cheap and delicious pasta.

It actually customizable where you can choose your noodle type - spaghetti or Penni , sauce and the ingredient.

As for mine, i took spaghetti cream base with ham and mushroom and it is only for $4. What a good deal.

However, i thought the cream was a little too sticky and dry for me. Besides that everything is good ;)

Hup Lee Cafeteria Fish Soup OK Apr 27, 2013

Categories : Singaporean Chinese

There is one huge problem when working in cbd area (raffles place) and not knowing what to eat. The food are really expensive there when it come to restaurants or cafeterias. The only cheap and affordable place you can find food will be in hawker center. However, here comes the lunch crowd and mega long queues.

Dont give up cuz' there are plenty of good food around the cbd area. One of it will be the fish soup in Hup Lee Cafeteria. I still remember last year when im working in raffles place, their fish soup was priced at $5 per bowl. However, when im there yesterday, it had gone up by 50 cents more. sad the fish soup is really good and don't be shock when you see long queues every now and then. It is normal.

The way they cooked their fried fish was really special. It is definitely different from what you always had outside. It is super crispy and crunchy on the outside and tender inside! This is the best fish soup i had so far.

However, dont expect any service from them at all. Their service was atrocious but I guess people come mainly for the food. Remember to go early as they might just sold out by 3pm some times!

Lim Seng Lee Duck Rice Eating House 林成利鸭饭餐食

Im sure you have heard of the famous duck rice at bruno vista that is closing soon after operating for 46 years. Uncle is finally retiring from all the hard work.

Thanks to OpenRice, a group of 7 of us are here at Lim Seng Lee Duck Rice Eating House for food tasting. Honestly speaking, the place is really far from where I stay. You tell me why is all the good food located so far away from me? (*_*)

Upon reaching, the shop was filled with people, massive amount of people sitting and queuing for food. Despite the rain, people are still queuing up with their umbrella for this famous duck rice!

So, is the duck rice really good?

The meat was really soft and tasty. It is very different from other duck rice as when you bite, the meat is really easy to come off unlike some of them you have to keep chewing till you swallow. No doubt, they live up to their reputation.

However, this plate of duck meat ( 1 duck ) cost $40 which is really expensive sad The boss took out all the bones for us and that explains the proportion left on the plate.

There are other dishes such as the braised egg, duck organs and vegetable. The duck meat really pulled it off by making the rest of the dishes insignificant.

Is it worth it to come all the way down for the duck rice?

It is a yes for me for only once. The duck meat is tasty which keeps luring customers back but the price ain't. Since uncle is retiring, why not head down to have a tasty duck rice meal before it is gone.

I never like egg tarts till I tried the one at South Bridge Road by Tong Heng Specialist in Traditional Chinese Pastries ! My friend bought it for me the first time. It was tasty and crispy.

What I like about the egg tart is that it is really crispy on the outside and when you tried the egg filling in the middle of the egg tart, it is so smooth that you can gulp it down.

I never stop buying egg tarts whenever im in the area. Yummy!

For non- egg tart lovers, go try it ! I bet you will love it like I do smile
