Kwan Inn Vegetarian Food  Smile Apr 03, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Indian | Coffeeshop | Vegetarian

Have you wondered where can we have our meals when it is 初一,十五? In the Chinese calendar, during this two days in a month, we ought to go vegetarian.

Although I’m not a vegetarian myself, I followed my uncle and aunty to Kwan Inn Vegetarian Food Stall at Geylang East Ave 1 coffee shop.

I tried their curry with prata. The curry was decent which costs only $1 for a bowl with potato in it. The prata isn't oily which makes me guilt-free! smile it is the normal prate combination with curry but having this makes me feel a lot more healthier than having the normal Indian prata. Good choice!

My uncle also ordered a big bun which is so much bigger than my fist. He finished it in less than 5 minutes. I guess it is super delicious. What's more, it is value for $$ !

This is also one my rare times getting vegetarian food and I love it smile

Fig & Olive  Cry Apr 03, 2013
Categories : Restaurant | Kids-Friendly

I was very disappointed with Fig & Olive. ):

I ordered a mushroom chicken cream pasta that evening and was eagerly anticipating it to come as my stomach is already groaning. To my dismay, the cream sauce was really thick as shown in the picture. It is very different from what I always had in other places. The cream sauce is similar to those cans campbell soups found in supermarkets. It made the whole pasta really dry and awful ):

My friend ordered a plate of fish and chips. It was slightly better than mine but the fish isn't fresh too. I don't think I will return to Fig & Olive again ):

However, their service was commendable. smile

Din Tai Fung 鼎泰丰 OK Apr 02, 2013

Categories : Taiwanese | Dim Sum

Din Tai Feng has been very established in Singapore now and very much well-known for their xiao long bao which is also known as meat dumplings!

Today, I bought my granny for lunch at the branch at Tampines Mall. We went at around 11.40 am on a weekday. We were settled in the restaurant fast but the service ad food orders were extremely slow.

We were craving for har gao which is prawn dumplings in dialect. Looking at the menu, not sure which is it so I asked the service staff. To my dismay, when the dish arrives, it was not what I wanted. It don’t taste good too. The skin was dry and thick.

Next up! Prawn fried rice!
I love this, especially the prawns which is really fresh. However, it was a little too expensive for this small plate of rice.

Last but not least, the famous xiao long bao! It lives up to it name. smile love it! ^^ this is a must order whenever im here.

What do you think of din tai feng right now compared to when they just established in singapore? smile

Ikea Café  OK Mar 26, 2013

Categories : Western Variety | Kids-Friendly

Hello,

I went to Ikea Café at Tampines for lunch. The place is very convenient for residents staying in the east! They do have shuttle bus circulating the three big 'malls' from pasir ris, tampines, bedok and sengkang which also leaves us to no excuses to no visit Ikea Café !

Every one knows that Ikea Café meatballs is worth dying for. It is delicious especially coming along with the meatballs sauce. Love it! Just a little shocked that their meatballs now comes in odd sizes rather than circular shape.

Next, it will be their chicken wings! However, this time I only ordered two as we wanted to try out the other dishes. I thought the wings are not as good as the past. The meat was a little too hard.

Last but not least, their poached salmon!
The salmon today was surprisingly fresh and sweet! The sauce was good too!

Remember to order their poached salmon and meatballs

if you drop by next time! smile

The Café Cartel  OK Mar 22, 2013
Categories : American | Restaurant

I went to The Café Cartel for a simple dinner to celebrate mummy's birthday! I love the ambiance over at Katong I12. It is even better than the one at Plaza Singapura.

We went over on a Saturday and we were surprised that we could have the weekday lunch specials. (: What a great deal over the weekend. The lunch sets includes a drink , soup , main course and a ice cream just for a nominal fee. Bravo!

We were served mushroom soup but what I felt is that the mushroom soup is too diluted. ): If it wasn't for the set meal, I would not order mushroom soup with them again.

The bread served was too hard to consume too. If you patronize The Café Cartel when they first opened, im sure you guys had a good time over the free flow bread at the counter. However, they took it down already. Im sure to miss that! The bread were awesome.

Yes, yes! This is my order, medium steak accompanied by wedges and broccoli. I love it! I mean for such a great deal, the steak was awesome. It is very juicy too. The only issue I have here is that it is served cold .):

This is my sister's order. She said she loved it too but I thought it is much like a breakfast meal. hmm. Her order was a chicken chop with sausages smile

We ordered a Hawaiian Pizza too. It was ok but the servings was huge for a single person.

Last but not least, we have our ice cream! ^^

If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful time with your partner, why not try The Café Cartel at I12 Katong. I am sure you will like it. Take a break from the buzzing town and see you soon smile
