Mini Steamboat  OK Apr 30, 2011
Categories : Singaporean | Food Court | Chinese Soup

Fatty Wong Sze Tan offers Mini Steamboat on top of Seafood Soup Fish but I’ve decided to try the steamboat as I saw quite a few diners digging into their individual mini pot. It is ok. Reminded me of the mini steamboat I used to enjoy at NUS Arts Canteen albeit the latter is cheaper. Average portion of vegetables and meat though I wouldn’t mind having more veg. Seems like I’m perpetually complaining that food outlets are not generous enough when it comes to greens. What you think?

Wan Chai Special Fried Rice Smile Apr 30, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Café

Wan Chai special fried rice is perfect for those who are looking for a one-dish meal that fills you up well. Comes with a good portion of prawns and slices of vegetable stems (my favourite because it’s so nice to munch on than leafy shoots!). The rice grains are firm and do not have any excess moisture. I love it. Also, there’s a distinct smokey flavour to the dish. Not bad!

Lovely High Tea Smile Apr 30, 2011

Categories : Chinese Desserts | Desserts and Cakes

Was at Chinatown on a weekend trying to find a place where I can grab a quick dessert for high tea and came across a branch of the famous Tong Shui Desserts! Ordered one of my all time favourite, the mango ice dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Though the ice is a tad chucky for my liking, the slices of mango were a little sour just the way I like it. It’s appetizing and extremely refreshing especially when the weather is awfully hot. A good crowd was around when I came in the mid-afternoon. Mostly are aunties and uncles. They seemed to be having a good time. So was I.

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Restaurant | Bak Kut Teh

Peppery bak Kut Teh. Loved by locals. I had to give it a try. Then I saw this on the menu: Pig tail!! Yippee! One of my fav snack! HEHE. Love the slippery smooth collagen texture of this dish. They served in the same broth as the pork ribs/bak ku teh. Nothing special for both dishes. The you tiao/fried flour fritters is also so-so. Not very crispy. Guess I'm a bigger fan of the herbal version of the bak kut teh dish. The thick soy sauce is not too thick - uh oh. Chilli also not very spicy. Seems like the offerings here are all too mild for my liking. But on a side note, there is a good crowd for this particular restaurant. You may wish to give it a try and see if you like it or not.

Categories : Korean | Korean BBQ

Was here initially to have the chinese hotpot a few shops down. But decided to give this korean restaurant a try as they offer a value buffet too! Service is very very good. The boss of the shop even came to help cooked our BBQ meat! ordered the ultra super large BBQ plate of meat. Mixture of meat. Lots of meat. you get it. Boy their ingredients were exceptionally fresh. The sauces tasted good too. smile Opt for the buffet if you are craving for lots of meat coz it's very cheap!
