For Quirky Flavored Waffles Smile Apr 09, 2016

Montana Singapore is a successor from previously know Montana Brew Bar revamped with additional 2 arms – South Bronx Burgers and Fabulous Dough all under the roof of POMO. Before venturing into the burgers and donuts, let’s take a quick peek into the main Montana Singapore known for their quirky delicious savory and sweet waffles .Beside their creative waffles, you’ll realised the pasta served on the menu has a twist made to its flavors too!

After much deliberation, with one stomach space only, we decided to go for their Assam Crab Waffle ($18). Inspired by kedah laksa, this assam herbs-spiced waffle is topped with seasoned crab meat and pineapple cucumber salsa, served with assam gula-melaka mayo. The waffles are denser with edges of crispiness, not too overwhelming taste with the accompaniment of refreshing chunky crab meat and pineapple cucumber salsa. You may heighten the taste with the sweet sour assam gula-melaka mayo. All in all, it was an intriguing dish filled with a medley of surprising flavors. I’ll be back for more, will you?

Meat Indulgences Smile Mar 20, 2016

Heard about Carnivore? The concept of Carne & Caipirinha is quite similar to Carnivore with the difference of them being the one and only brazilian churrascaria in Singapore that uses charcoal fire for slow-roasting quality meats retaining the meat’s rich flavors and finishing off with an irresistible smoky fragrance. Not forgetting that their meat buffet galore are accompanied with a salad bar too. The buffet prices differs between Happy Hour & Regular Hours. More details at the end of the post!

Let’s take a peek what’s there in their salad bar selection. It basically consists selection of gourmet salads, pastas, rice and their very own traditional Brazilian Feijoada (it’s a kind of black bean stew with pork trimmings, be it the meat, ears etc that was used).

There you see in the third tray from the left sits the traditional Btrazilian Feijoada, the flavor was actually quite good, it’s a little light and mellow on the taste buds but the meat were a little tough to ingest.

Some condiments accompanying your meats. The refreshing salsa is the best accompaniment to the heavily seasoned meat cuts.

Cheese bread to kick start your buffet. This cheese bread is simply fascinating, it’s warm and has a chewy cheesey texture within. Small yet highly addictive.

Refreshing and tangy with a bite of citrus, it’s little wonder that Caipirinha is one of Brazil’s signature tipple. Refreshing and sublime flavours of fresh limes infused with a shot of the finest liquor.

After gourmet of salads, appetizers and drinks, are you all set for the buffet line? At Carne & Caipirinha, you get to set your own eating pace with the use of these 2 sided green and red card. When it’s a green, it’s a go-ahead to the Passadors to carve dining portion of meat off the skewers right on to your dining plates, while if it’s a red, it will means that the Passadors will stop serving you while letting you to take a rest from all the delicacies.

There are a total of 15 premium cuts to choose from, with each and every of them directly imported from Brazil which brings about a robust and satisfying taste. The first two that you are looking at now are Pork Sausage and Chicken Fillet wrapped in Bacon. The pork sausage has a sour flavor to it while the chicken fillet wrapped in bacon is firm and bountiful.

Chicken thigh that was tender and juicy.

Cubes of roasted Pork Belly that was actually meaty and savory but the skin was a tad too disappointing. Only if it was crackling good.

Besides pork and chicken, Lamb Leg, Beef Rump and Beef Hump were served too. Personally i preferred their Beef Hump than their Beef Rump, it’s more tender and juicer. Their Lamb Leg is not a bad choice too if you do not mind the smell of the lamb. Missing here are their Beef Rump Cap and Beef Rib.

We were warned not to eat more than 4 of these Fish Cubes as they are high in fat content which our body may not be able to digest fully. The coat is a little crispy and salty while the flesh inside is warm, moist and soft.

Chicken hearts that are not for the faint-hearted. Exotic it may sound, but the taste turns out surprisingly good and acceptable. It has a unique chewy texture with no strong aroma.

Another meat cut will be this Pork Ribs which was delectably tender yet with a firm texture.

Something sweet, juicy and refreshing to cleanse your palette amidst the endless servings of meat. Grilled Pineapples! Have more servings of this please! It will definitely help to stimulate your appetite for more meats.

Not forgetting another highlight of this restaurant – “The Firebomb” Flaming Carbonara Pasta in Cheese Wheel. Freshly cooked carbonara pasta will first be tossed in this large Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese wheel, then flaming cocktail consisting a secret blend of 3 different alcohol will be poured in. The flames will char the pasta and melt the cheese, turning it into a beautifully balanced cream sauce with intoxicating aroma. We tried both version of the Carbonara Pasta, with and without the alcohol. “The Firebomb” Carbonara Pasta has a sweet aftertaste with trailing aroma of liquor while the normal Carbonara Pasta has a strong creamy and cheesy aftertaste which was more savory and desired for. Both versions have its own merits, it just depends on individual liking. Just to note “The Firebomb” pasta is available at an additional of $10 per serving.
All in all, it will be a heaven for meat lovers and food lovers who prefers heavily seasoned food or stronger flavors.

With an understated entrance, one can easily missed the restaurant situated along Tan Quee Lan Street. Nonetheless, you’ll be surprised as you walk into the inviting chic amidst the casual 3-storeys high shophouse with a touch of contemporaneity to the overall furnishing of the restaurant; in hues of black with dazzling lighting.
Joo bar serves modern korean food made with a twist of flavors and a hint of fusion that matches well with their creative funky drinks.

Banchan served were of nothing resemblance to the traditional korean side dishes but something more westernized and asian-ized.

Kimchi Pork Taco ($18) made of grilled mangalitsa, house made kimchi, onion and cilantro. Soft warm taco filled with tangy tasting fillings with traces of traditional korean flavor in between.

Japchae ($18), simple it may seems but well flavored smooth and silky glass noodle and tender beef with a dose of wok taste and aroma of sesame.

Seafood Gochujang Risotto ($24) – Delish fusion of east meet west. Traditional red hot pepper sauce used as the base of risotto, not too piquant but with the right spicy note to the palette. The seafood used were fresh, plump and succulent. Good ratio of seafood to rice. The texture of the risotto was done to perfection too, not too wet, not too dry but just a lil tiny winny of creaminess. A flavorsome plate of risotto!

Ginseng Chicken Soup – Brimming with nutritious taste of herbal ginseng, with tender chicken meat and glutinous rice, best samgyetang to warm up your stomach on a cold rainy day. Broth was thick and rich in flavors.
Pricing wise may be on a higher but with the quality put into the food preparation, you will feel that it’s totally worth every cents of the penny spent. It’s definitely a choice destination for modernized korean food but with the traditional korean flavors retained. One thing for improvement is definitely the time taken for the food to be served, it’s a little way too long. :/

With a grandiose facade that welcome you into an area filled with posh and classic ambiance and seating; and a corner with sofa coded in playful dash of bold colors overlooking the stretch of orchard road. Grand entrance decked with layers of glass wares and tea selections. A short escapade from the bustling city.

Sumptuous quirky menu filled with the love for food in a lady and gentleman perspective. Deliciously creative style of presenting menu in this style – light with an emphasize on seafood for the ladies’ affair and heavy with the meat in the limelight for the gentlemen palette.

Start our meal with a pot of Pomelo Tea ($11), light with scents of sweet pomelo flavor encircling around the palette. Rich yet mellow. Though the price for a pot of tea is on the higher end, but it really tasted comforting.

Beijing Dynasty Duck Pancake ($28) – A good fusion of east meets west. Abundance of shredded savory duck confit wrapped cozily in blankets of sweet and soft pancake. With the presence of an orange compote to heighten its flavor with a tinge of citrusy. It’s surprisingly stomach filling given the portion.

Boston Love Boat – Ciponio ($29) – Seafood and saffron stew with sweet potatoes fries. Crispy fragrant flaky pastry crust that contains the umami aroma of seafood within the bowl. The bowl of stew essence with tomato base contains plump and juicy scallop, mussels, fishes and prawns. Seafood were fresh and succulent. Stew were slurp-py good! Accompanying sweet potatoes were starchy with hint of sweetness and crispness.
All in all, it was a nice experience dining in Arteastiq though service was a little slow, but food served were of decent taste and quality. Can’t wait to go back for some artsy painting time!

Non Entree Desserts has created a swirl and a twirl up the desserts cafe scene. Despite the off the way location, it’s exquisite and delicate handcrafted plated desserts has definitely attracted many dessert lovers.

Just looking at the galore of pretty looking dainty pieces, don’t they make you drool?

Simplistic menu concise with their cakes and coffee selections.

La Rose ($12.90): Rose mousse layered with Raspberry Jelly & fresh frozen lychees topped with a sexy looking lips raspberry. Mousse was smooth and flavors were pleasant and mellow. With distinct layers of raspberry jelly and frozen lychees, good blend of sweet and sour within this pretty big pink pearl.

Rubber Ducky ($12.90): Frozen exotic ducky sorbet sitting in a tub of lemongrass foam, fresh mango puree & creme fraiche pudding with sago! Layers of surprises, varying the texture and flavor level. Flow of sweetness amidst sea of tartness. Just could not take my eyes off such a cutie with such explosive burst of flavors!
