Teriyaki handroll Smile Oct 18, 2011

It was the first time I'm having the Teriyaki Handroll. It costs $2.10 and has to be ordered. I've never seen one on the conveyor belt actually. Anyway, the teriyaki chicken was unexpectedly crunchy. The sauce used was great too. The chicken was surprisingly good in the handroll. However, since its chicken, its pretty hard to eat it along with the handroll as it keeps sliding out. Overall it was really good and my sister even ordered one for herself after trying mine. Will definitely have it again.

Spending per head: Approximately $2.10

Tea @ Din Tai Fung Smile Aug 30, 2011   (Related Review)

I'm not a big fan of Chinese tea but I'd normally drink the tea at Din Tai Fung because unlike many Chinese teas, it doesn't have the bland taste that I dislike. Also, I'm not too sure what "flavor" tea it is, but it doesn't have that common chinese tea smell that I can't stand. The tea is very refreshing and has a strong tea taste that is slightly sweet. It is perfect for quenching thirst or after a big meal.

Din Tai Fung will normally automatically serve it to adults unless told otherwise. It costs $1.00 and is a free flow drink.

Fried Rice with Eggs Smile Aug 30, 2011   (Related Review)

Whenever I'm dining at Din Tai Fung I'd normally order for the fried rice with eggs since I'm not a big fan of chinese cuisine's side dishes. The fried rice is not too oily although it looks oily. The fried rice is very moist and the rice is well cooked. I've never found a single grain that's too moist and can be smashed easily. They normally use a generous amount of eggs and spring onions for their fried rice. The spring onions give a very refreshing taste to the dish and it is hard to get sick of it. Although many people would a plate of the fried rice, I personally like to have it alone without any other dishes. It is very tasty and will fill me up at a low cost of $6.50.

Pork Chop Noodles Smile Aug 30, 2011   (Related Review)

I decided to try Din Tai Fung's noodles for the first time. They have quite a big variety of noodles and the noodle soup with fried pork chop looked most appealing so I ordered it.

Their noodles are pretty thick and have a nice strong flour taste that's common among other popular chinese cuisine restaurants' noodles (E.g. Crystal Jade). The soup is sweet but pretty bland. I made the mistake of not telling them to NOT put the fried pork chop in the soup. After being soaked in the soup, the skin of the pork chop is soft and had this floury feeling that's kind of like soggy fries. The pork chop is pretty juicy but the skin really ruined it for me.

It costs $8.80 for a bowl and is very filling. However, I'd highly recommend everyone to have their pork chop be placed in another bowl/plate rather than in the soup.

Lobster Mayo Inari Smile Aug 28, 2011   (Related Review)
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

The lobster mayo inari is my favourite inari out of all the inaris that Ichiban Sushi offers. A generous amount of lobster is wrapped with sweet bean curd skin. The lobster is absolutely tasty and the sweetness of the mayonnaise is perfect with the lobster. There's a hint of wasabi in the lobster (I don't know why) but it is not spicy at all. I highly recommend it! It is 3 big lobster mayo inaris for a price of $3.90. Pretty filling! smile
