My Pizza Reminiscence  Smile Oct 22, 2011

To people who want a quick read about my Pizza Memoirs experience, I have simply one thing to say:

Brilliant

Where shall I begin?
Alright then, service. The waitress was extremely friendly and very accommodating. She was one of the reasons why the dining experience was enjoyable.
The manager/boss? himself came to greet my friend and I, and asked if we were enjoying the food. He was extremely friendly as well, and I truly appreciated that. This is something that happens rarely in Singapore, but very often in the USA. It just makes your whole dining experience more personal and enjoyable. The restaurant becomes not just one to eat at, but a place to really delight in.

Food? My friend and I only ordered the Seafood Pizza, and we LOVED it. It was delivered to our table, straight from the oven, piping hot. At a price of $15, we got a 9" pizza with a variety of seafood toppings - prawns, scallops, squid and mussels.

The texture was chewy and soft. The mozzarella was wonderfully melted and gooey. The seafood in the pizza was abundant. I especially loved the scallops. They were succulent and came in nice chunks. It was great to bite into the pizza, and find nice juicy chunks of scallops hiding underneath the cheese.

I really like the ambiance of the place. Sitting outside and enjoy pizza in the evening was great. My friend and I agreed that we would come back again. Also eating there gives you an option of trying food from the other stalls. You can even have thai and indian food if you'd like.

I strongly recommend visiting here for your gourmet pizza fix. I'd like to try their specialties next time I'm there.

Just Fine Smile Sep 05, 2011

I went there with a friend to get him a Oreo Cheesecake for $5.20. I did not try it myself, but he liked it a lot. According to him, it wasn't too cheesy or sweet, which he enjoyed.

I got myself a slice of Strawberry Shortcake for $6. The price was quite expensive for a small piece of cake. I'm not sure that I'll be buying cakes from them too often.

Overall, the taste wasn't bad, but neither was it fantastic. I must confess that this is only my second time having strawberry shortcake in my life. It did not beat the very first strawberry shortcake I had.

The cake was soft and fluffy, so I give it a 5 for texture. Their cream was at a good amount, not too much nor too little, but it was a little bland. The strawberries were quite sour. I think their cake is suited more for someone who doesn't like anything too sweet.

Presentation was great. Simple yet enticing design. The little brown square you see is not chocolate, unfortunately. It took me a taste of it, to realize this. Ha...Ha.....

Service was also good! The lady behind the counter was very nice and accommodating.

Although not a mind blowing gastronomic experience, it was a pleasant experience to be able to try one of their cakes.

Silky Smooth Smile Sep 03, 2011

This is a great place to go for supper! My friends and I frequent Rochor Beancurd for their Beancurd of course!

Their Beancurd is one of the best I've ever had. The texture is so smooth. I didn't know it was possible for a place to make it this smooth. And the sweetness is just right. I like sweet treats, but when they are too sweet, you can get sick of it really quickly. Too much of a good thing can get bad. But Rochor Beancurd really hits a good balance in its sweetness. Sweet enough to melt your tongue, but not too sweet to make you want to stop.

I really only like the hot one. The cold one just isn't too my taste. I feel that you don't taste the flavours as much with the cold one. Also, I find it strange to eat beancurd with you tiao, but alot of people seem to enjoy that. Also, it's only $1 Awesome food at an even awesomer price makes me real happysmile

Their soy milk is equally good. The texture is great- not grainy at all. Sweetness is perfect as well. $1

I decided to try their Egg Tart recently and.....was disappointed. sad
The filling was so-so, it wasn't that tasy but what was really bad was the texture. It was hard. I think it might have been the fact that it was not freshly baked, but nonetheless I expected better. Alot more expensive as well. $1.40

So overall, definitely recommend going to Rochor Beancurd for only their Beancurd and Soy Milk. But you might want to skip their egg tarts.

Impactful OneTon Mee  Smile Sep 02, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop | Noodles

I was introduced to this place by University Mates as part of our food trail. In no way was I disappointed.

The noodles are nice and springy, never to soft or tough. While the sauce is darker and thicker, much like the Pontian Wanton Mee, it is not too heavy at all. The small plate costs $3.50 and comes with a bowl of soup as well. The wantons in the soup are nice, bite-size and flavorful. The texture is firm but yet still soft. The fried wantons are really crispy and delicious. The char siew is at a good level of sweetness and saltiness.

Furthermore, the service is pretty speedy.

If you happen to be in or near Sunshine Plaza, I definitely encourage you to try out the food here!

Good and Affordable Smile Aug 30, 2011

The environment of the place may seem a little less impressive than the other Thai restaurants on the block, but let that not cause you to miss a good dining experience.

I've been there twice and had their Pad Thai both times and enjoyed it immensely. I had chicken the first, and beef the second time. Both at the same price. There is another option of having seafood as well. Each plate will cost you about $5. I can be quite a stingy person and prefer to spend around $2-3 for a meal, but I have absolutely no problem spending $5 at Aroy Dee Thai. For $5 you get a huge plate of Pad Thai with generous amounts of beansprouts and meat. Aside from the portion, the taste is excellent.

The sour of the lime goes so well with the sweetness of the noodles producing a great balance of flavours for your tastebuds to soak in. The texture also varies from the crunch of the grounded peanuts, the softness of the noodles, and back to a fresh crunch of beansprouts.

I always enjoy my time there. Service is fine- you might have to wait a little, but for good food like this, I really don't mind the wait.

I definitely recommend this place for Thai Cuisine fans! smile
