satisfying dessert Smile Mar 20, 2013

Was craving for some hot dessert after dinner so my mom and i decided to drop by Lot 1 after visiting my aunt.

Located beisde Chewy Junior, this stall might be small, but they serve quite a variety of hot and cold desserts. I ordered a bowl of hot almond cream, which was very smooth and creamy. The almond flavour was not too overpowering, and the sweetness was just right. I love slurping up each mouthful of creamy goodness and letting it linger in my mouth. I was happily satisfied after enjoying it. I will be back to try other desserts soon!tongue

enjoy French Fare in Kopitiam Smile Mar 20, 2013

My friend recommended me to try this stall for french food after i told her i want to explore different type of cuisine. Located at a corner of the coffee shop, it looks just like any other hawker food stall and can be easily walk passed.

Their menu are quite limited, which i think could be because they want to focuse on quality. I ordered a Australian Barramundi as the Pot Roast Chicken was not available. After paying, i was told to return after 10 minutes to collect my food.

i was pleasantly surprise that they uses heavy white porcelain dinnerware to serve their food, which shows their pursue of real authentic quality italian fare. The salad with kaffir lime leaf dressing was fresh, the skin of the barramundi was real crispy yet the juiciness of the meat was maintained. The only flaw was that the skin was really salty (there was still bits of salt on it). The orzo pasta (pasta shaped like rice grains) was well flavoured and cooked to the right texture.

They have a current promotion where each main course comes with a choice of free salad or soup of the day. My soup of the day was tomato soup. It came satisfyingly hot. The soup was well flavoured and really sweet (i presume they uses good quality sweet tomato as i have tried tomato soup from other places and they were sweet and sour).

I did not regret trying this.

Easter-Inspired High Tea set Smile Mar 17, 2013

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant

TCC is known for their affordable high tea set that changes menu monthly. This month, they have a easter-inspired high tea set that is not only delicious, but also really cute and will definitely catch the hearts of many females of all ages.

Each set cost $13.90++, and is available daily from 2pm to 6pm. I went down last week to have a taste of the beautiful creation.

I was first served with a cup of coffee(you can also choose tea) which is included in the set. The food arrive not long after. In anti-clockwise direction starting from the top right corner is a beef salad. Despite the small bowl, almost half of it was filled with juicy beef slices, while the rest was salad that is drizzled with a tangy sauce that totally cuts away the bitterness of the rocket salad leaf. I really like its refreshing taste and generous serving of beef.

Next to it are 2 scones, one chocolate chip and the other raisin flavour. Both were baked hot, with a crispy crumbly outer surface and moist buttery inside. Accompanied with the cream and strawberry jam served, they were the best scone i have tasted(according to my tastebuds).

Here comes the adorable creation in this easter-inspired high tea set!

The white 'bunny' beside the cream/jam is an orange cupcake with dessicated coconut frosting. Chocolate are used to create the ears and face of the bunny. It was served quite cold, so the cake was to dense to my liking. However, the flavour are quite well-combined.

The bottom left hand corner is a mango mousse cake, with a sponge cake base. What is so special about it is the 'sunny-side up' on top, made up using white chocolate and a mango gelee. The whole cake is really full of refreshing mango flavour.

Beside it is a crispy kataifi nest and a passionfruit macaron 'chick'. I have looked forward to this macaron 'chick' the most when i saw their advertisement, and it does satisfy me so much i wish there is one more of it!

Lastly, the savoury turkey ham and egg mayo tortilla roll helps cut away all the sweetness. The tortilla skin is really soft and all the ingredient complement very well. I love it!

Nice high tea set good for all occasion, be it chilling out with friends or simply when you need some mood booster! lol

Nice taiwan steam cake Smile Mar 13, 2013

Categories : Bakery

Not long ago, Swee Heng Bakery has introduced Taiwan Steamed Cake. It looks very similar to Breadtalk's steam cakes and being a fan of them, i must try these made by Swee Heng. These steam cake comes in assorted flavour like original, marble, chocolate and sesame. As i have never tried sesame flavour before, i opted for it. It taste really moist and soft just like Breadtalk ones. I am really pleasantly surprised to find custard filling inside. The filling really won more points in my heart compared to Breadtalk as i am someone who prefer stuff with fillings instead of plain ones.

Really happy with it! lol

Go Italian~ Smile Mar 13, 2013

Categories : Italian | European | Restaurant | Pasta | Kids-Friendly

My partner bought me to this restaurant as he heard they serve rather good cod fish and he knows i am a real cod fish fan.
The restaurant is located at a corner of the basement of Ochard Central, right beside the lift. We took the escalator which was at the other side, thus we took some time before finding the place.

The atmosphere inside is relaxing and high-classy. My friend ordered the 'Merluzzo Con Asparagi' for me, which is the cod fish dish he heard was nice. We were first served with plain water as we were not in the mood for their wines. A piece of garlic bread was also served to us. I must rave to you how simply delicious the bread is! The bread was really thin and crispy unlike the usual thick, chewy baguette type. It was baked warm and the garlic seasoning on top has hint of garlic flavour that is so pleasing to taste. I know it is just a complimentary starter, but i just cannot forget the simple yet extraordinary taste!

After the lovely bread, i was really looking forward to my main course. However, it took really long. My partner was halfway through his meal, while the customers behind me were also digging into their meal already. After enquiry, the serve apologetically told me the chef has burnt my fish and i have to wait 15 mins more for them to prepare a new one.

When my dish finally came, i was more than ready to tuck in. I am pleased with it though not impressed. From their description in the menu, i was looking forward to my 'baked chilean cod in pistachio crumble with asparagus, parsnip and pear puree in lemony white onion fondue'. My dish came with a satisfying piece of cod with the skin baked really crispy while the meat was moist and sweet. The cod was served on top of the puree which was mixed with quite a lot of sweet onion pieces in it.

My dish costed about $45 after gst and svc. I am happy that i at least tried it once, but i doubt i will be visiting again.
