Another vegetarian dinner at a vegetarian place, since my dad's a vegetarian. I still rmb vividly the 1st time my dad brought my family to a vegetarian restaurant & i didnt want to eat, bcos i tot vegetarian food was all about vegetable & more vegetables only. However, now its a different story & i love gg to explore new places which sells vegetarian fd, bcos i knw vegetarian fd can be nice, & the dishes cooked using mock meat can also be nicer than those cooked with 'real meat'.

I love gg to this place known as Zi Zai vegetarian, not only bcos they have a wide selection of dishes to choose frm, partly also bcos they serve prata too (which is my fav)! Zi Zai vegetarian have 2 or 3 branches, & this is one of them which i went to at Tampines.

Since it was our dinnertime, I didnt get to order prata as my dad wants us to have a full meal with dishes. We ordered the hotplate tofu (which is a must whenever im there), mock curry chicken, sweet & sour oyster mushroom, seaweed soup (which the server recommended) & also a plate of stir-fried veggies. The food arrived fast as there wasnt much people ard since it wasnt peak period.

The curry was abit oily, but there was quite alot of ingredients inside (lady's finger, brinjal, etc). The stir-fried veggies tasted ok, while my favourite remained the hotplate tofu (it's biased cos i loved eating hotplate tofu since i was young tongue) The soup was quite flavourful as there were many ingredients in it. The oyster mushroom is nice, the taste is just rite & its also crunchy. My family loves this dish. smile

The gd thing is also that u can request for no eggs if u are a strict vegetarian too. smile

My dad's a vegetarian, so when we usually dine out tgt as a family on Sundays (his only off-day every wk), it would be vegetarian food for both lunch & dinner. Normally my mum would cook, but sometimes we would just eat out if we were in a hurry or my mum didnt feel like cooking. Since we were ard the bukit batok area, I suggested gg to Hwa Jin Vegetarian Family Restaurant, which I had looked up in Google for vegetarian places to eat in Bukit Batok.

When my family reached there, the place was really crowded (dinnertime - peak hour). The servers were rushing ard serving food & we had to wait quite some time for a table. The menu was not as intensive as some other vegetarian eateries my family frequent, but enough to let us ponder what we shld order. The waiting time for the food was abt 20mins, considered quite fast seeing the crowd of ppl there.

We ordered stir-fried sweet potato leaves, lemon mock chicken (their specialty), hotplate egg foo yong & lastly their tofu & seaweed soup.

Their sweet potato leaves was okay, but it was abit 'burnt' - the fire was too big while frying the veg.

Their lemon chicken, was the BEST vegetarian lemon chicken i have ever eaten! Thumbs up! It's a MUST TRY if u ever come here!

The soup was okay while the hotplate egg foo yong was so-so only (didnt take the photo as the server mixed up the egg which make it quite ugly).

Overall, satisfied with my meal & will patronise agn (to come & have their mock lemon chicken agn)! Their prices are also really reasonable, only a total of $25.50 for 5pax! Their dishes for small size in only $5 for most dishes, which is cheaper than many vegetarian outlets too!

P.S: Do try to take public transport if possible, the parking lots although are plentiful, they are almost alwys full & have to wait for some time for a parking space.

It was my best friend's birthday & my friends and I decided to treat her for dinner. We wanted a place where we could relax and chill out and so I immediately thought of this boardgames cafe. I had went to this cafe before & enjoyed myself tremendously during the time i was there, so i quickly made a reservation. smile Turns out there was no need for a reservation, there wasn't much customers when we arrived.

We immediately settled down & got some boardgames from the shelves, there was soo many games to choose from, making it super hard to decide which one we wanted to play, so in the end brought 4-5 different games back to the table, haha. smile The staff were really polite, plus they were really patient when explaining games you don't know or understand. smile They even helped us light the candles on the cake we bought outside, nt from them!

There are different packages we could choose frm, ranging from those with free flow drinks to those that came with a full meal, prices were also quite reasonable. We chose their Mind Mega Meal Package ($16.50) that came with free flow drinks (4 flavours to choose from, & can change flavours), a main course & either soup/salad + 3hrs of unlimited boardgaming. They also have sides for you to order if you don't feel like having a full meal.

Th 1st time i went to this cafe, my 1st thought was 'since it's a boardgame cafe, it should focus more on the array of games they had, not the food, so i supposed it isn't that nice'. However, this cafe actually proved me wrong! They served really nice food - both nice to see & nice to eat! I was actually quite surprised that their food was so nice! tongue Their tom yam roast chicken with rice is a must try! The salmon pasta is also very worth the money spent! smile

This is the place to go, for both nice food, great service + nice place for boardgaming! smile

Swensen! OK Sep 01, 2011

Tinking since my brother's birthday was near & my family often goes to Swensen's for dinner, i decided to surprise my brother on his birthday by bringing the whole family to Swensen @ IMM to celebrate. The place was not very crowded despite it being dinner time, so i didnt have to wait to get a place for 6.

Menu was quite intensive, with some new items added which i didn't see from my last visit. We ordered quite alot of food, plus a 1kg birthday cake since there was no small cake available. Their mushroom soup was served in a sourdough breadbowl, & the taste was nice. smile

Other foods we ordered include prawn and fruit salad, caesar salad and caesar salad with breaded chicken (we're a salad family, haha), portions are quite small (& quite ex)though, so try to order other food. The thing i liked about their menu was that the heathy symbol was beside those healthier choices, allowing patrons to make a better & informed choice. smile We also had baked rice, chicken baked rice, curry chicken baked rice, and mushroom baked rice. They had crackers on top of the curry chicken baked rice, a nice touch to it! smile

There's free parking at IMM, but parking spaces are usually full, even during wkdays, so do try to take public transport if possible~! smile

Ice Cream Feast @ Swensen's! :) Smile May 30, 2013

After having dinner, my cousins and I had cravings for ice-cream, so we decided to have some at Swensen's. Swensen's have a wide range of ice cream flavours, so naturally we thought of having ice cream there. We ordered their 'Giant Earthquake', which consisted of 8 scoops of different types of ice cream, topped with cherries and whipped cream.

Giant Earthquake was served it with dry ice in the middle, making it look really grand and delicious. As there were 4 of us, each of us got to choose 2 different flavours of ice-cream. We chose Butterscotch, Hazelnut, Durian Supreme, Milo, Mocha Almond Fudge, Ol' Fashioned Vanilla, Mango and Lime Sherbet. However, to our dismay, our ice cream arrived half-melted. Apparently, it was left on the counter for quite some time before it was served to us as the staff forgot about it. sad

Butterscotch: This tasted just alright to me. Plain boring butterscotch, nothing special.
Hazelnut: Light hazelnut flavour.
Durian Supreme: The BEST of the lot. Strong durian flavour, smooth and yet you could feel bits of durian meat in between. A definite must have!
Milo: Just milo. But still nice nevertheless. A must try if you're a Milo lover like me! smile
Mocha Almond Fudge: Mocha flavoured, with bits of almond in between. Nice combo.
Ol' Fashioned Vanilla: Nothing could go wrong with vanilla right? smile Smooth texture, and have a strong vanilla smell to it. Must-have in every ice-cream feast.
Mango: Nice and sweet mango-flavoured. I love mango ice-cream, so this went down with me well.
Lime Sherbet: This hit the right notes with me. Lime flavoured, with the right amount of sourness to it. Refreshing!

Overall, the price is worth it since we got to choose our own flavours for the ice-cream, and the ice cream itself are not bad too. Definitely will go again! Just hope our ice cream will be served frozen! tongue
