It was a long time since I met up with my classmates, so we decided to get tgt for an archery session at Cdans Home Team Clubhouse. Before that, we went to the Guilin Restaurant downstairs to have dinner before we proceed.

The restaurant was pretty empty when we got there, so we were served pretty quickly. I placed an order as my friends had no opinions, and we ordered a plate of fried rice, mee goreng and a bowl of fish maw soup.

The soup was the 1st to come. It was piping hot, and very flavourful. I put alot of vinegar (as alwys), and it was very satisfying. There were alot of ingredients inside, well worth the price paid. smile The broth was abit too salty though, but it's also bcos of its saltiness which makes it so nice, haha. smile

The fried rice was the next to come. It was also very hot, and just the right amount of ingredients too. The rice was just nice, not too dry or wet. Taste was just nice, not too salty. Only thing was that there were just a few prawns scattered around such a big plate of fried rice, if there's more it would be better.

The mee goreng was the nicest. Half the plate was gone before I managed to snap a shot of it, haha. shocked It was pretty spicy, with prawns, carrots and beansprouts etc. Serving was big too. The spring onions in it made the whole dish more flavourful too. Wasnt too dry, and I actually ate 3 small bowls of it. A must try! smile

Overall, a pleasant dining experiece, only marred by a few houseflies flying around which was very irritating. Other than that, service was good and food was of pretty good standard. Will patronize again.

It was my cousin's bdae and so I decided to surprise him with a small cake from BreadTalk. I normally buy bread from BreadTalk so it was my 1st time getting a cake from them. As their bread is delicious, I tot the cake would be nice too. smile

Turned out I wasnt disappointed at all. My cousin loved the cake, and he literally ate all of it. I managed to get a small slice to taste though. Haha. The strawberry was fresh, and it was sweet. The cake was moist and soft, practically those 'melt in the mouth' kind of cake. Although the price of the cake was abit on the high side, I didnt mind as it is worth the price. Will buy again next time. smile

Honey Drink from Each a Cup Smile Mar 13, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

It was a really hot day so I decided to get a drink from Each-A-Cup at Causeway Point. As I dun normally patronize bubble tea stalls (I dun really like bubble tea), I didnt really know what I shld order. Thus, I told the staff to recommend me a drink with honey, since I had a sore throat and honey can help sooth it. She recommended me this Honey w Kan + Aiyu.

This drink is really nice; and I could feel the coolness of the drink with 1 sip, it was so refreshing! The plastic cover is cute too. The drink was 70% sweet, which I told the staff I wanted, so it wasnt too bland or sweet, just nice to my liking. smile There were also jelly bits inside, which was really soft!

Overall, it was a really nice drink! I will buy this drink more often as the honey makes the drink really nice.

My 1st Visit to Bakerzin OK Mar 13, 2012

Categories : Bakery | Desserts and Cakes

It was a happy day for my family as we just went to USS. Everyone was in high spirits so my dad decided to treat all of us at Bakerzin.

It was dinner-time, a long queue and so we waited for quite a while. Finally it was our turn to be seated. Browsed thru the menu and decided to order their set meal. Everyone decided to order their set meal too as it came with a variety of items, except my dad, who was vegetarian and could only settle for a tomato olive pizza.

The set came in a tray, with a tomato soup, salad, a slice of chocolate cake, bread and also the main dish. My main course was bacon cabonara, and it was really nice! My mum thought the portion was very small though; my brother gobbled up his dory fillet spaghetti in just 5mins. However, portion was just right for my small appetite. The noodles were cooked to the right consistency, though there were too little bacon. Tried my brother's dory fillet and it was really soft, quite worth it as the portion of the fish was quite big.

The tomato soup was very sour, too sour to my liking. In the end, I only drank 3 tablespoonfuls of it, before I passed it to my brother, who surprisingly, likes it (he hates veggies). For the salad, the veggies were really fresh, but the taste was just acceptable. Portion was really tiny though.

The chocolate cake was the best among all. It was oh-so-soft like it melts in your mouth. There were chocolate bits in the cream which goes really well tgt with the cake. My brother kept asking whether I still wanted my cake when I was only half-way through.

Lastly, the bread. It was really hard, and I dipped it in my soup to eat. However, it was still hard so I didnt eat the rest after a bite.

Overall, taste is acceptable for the cake and main course, but the salad, soup and bread wasnt that nice.

Pandan Cake frm Swee Heng Smile Jan 31, 2012

Categories : Singaporean | Bakery

I love the Pandan Cake frm Swee Heng. So I was very happy when my dad came home with a Pandan Cake bought frm there and immediately went to get a knife to cut them into pieces and have one for myself. smile

The Pandan cake was really tiny, and it's like only enough for 4 ppl (a slice each), and it cost a hefty $3. Nevertheless, price aside, I would be willing to pay for it if it tasted nice, and it does! smile

The green colouring used for the pandan cake is a little too much though, one look and you can tell it is colouring. It kind of taste like colouring too, with a hint of Pandan to it. The cake is super soft though, which is why I liked it so much. It's airy and light, and I easily finished 3 pieces with all dunked in milk. smile

Overall, nice soft pandan cake but abit on the expensive side. But can't be helped as prices for ingredients are alwys increasing and they cant possibly alwys maintain their old pricing of $2.
