I was there for lunch with my husband and daughter. Gokul provided a much needed cool ambiance from the sweltering heat. Though none of us were vegetarian food lovers, we wanted to give this place a try.

It was around half-past one. Surprisingly the lunch time crowd was missing. Good for us - waiting time was shortened. The restaurant is spacious and clean. The waiters are friendly. They served us a basket of pappads, which my husband finished in no time. Nevertheless, the basket was replenished quickly. (The pappads were not so crispy though)
I was balled over when I opened the menu. The range they offer is huge. They had South and North Indian, Chinese, Western, Malay and Thai food. All vegetarian, of course.

We ordered plain Basmati Rice, Hot and Sour Soup, Hotplate Tofu, Malai Kofta Mughlai Style, Sambal Goreng, Masala Kulcha and Lime Juice. The Basmati rice was so light and fluffy. The texture was perfect. Obviously a high quality Basmati rice has been used. Then there was the Hot and Sour Soup. Just what we needed to tantalise our palates. Be warned! This soup is SPICY! If you have a faint tongue, avoid this dish.
Hotplate Tofu is another must try. Though it was missing the seafood, it tasted just as good without them. Masala Kulcha is similar to Naan, except that it is potato stuffed. The added herbs and well-grilled roti gave a crunchy taste. We had ordered only one (cut into four pieces). These alone can be quite filling. Sambal Goreng - without the belachan/shrimp paste - was spicy and tasty. The Lime Juice was sweet and sour and refreshing. They did not add too much ice cubes in it thus it was not diluted.
What's a trip to Tekka without savouring the appam? And then came the appam. I was very disappointed with the appearance of it. The edges were not crispy. The center portion was slightly bigger than a fifty-cent coin. I could taste bicarbonate soda which left a stinging aftertaste. Appam at Gokul is a no-no.
Overall, the food here is good. A fabulous choice for vegetarians. However, I felt that the dishes are overpriced.

Prata OK Dec 23, 2011

We happened to be around that area and decided to pop in at Casuarina to savour their prata. Well..... what shall I say..... it was soft, with crispy edges, but it was not up to my expectation. I have tasted better prata elsewhere. I felt that the curry served with the prata was not tasty too.

So Good, Sogurt Smile Jun 21, 2013

Plain and tiramisu flavoured yogurt

Sogurt @JEM offers a great variety of flavours.smile Namely, plain, tiramisu, lychee and grape flavours. But the best thing was when they had my all time favourite, nutella. The sweet scent of strawberry, the juiciness of each fruit, the crisp of the coloured cereals tasted great. The ambience was bright and cheery. We had to pay according to the weight of the yoghurt and toppings selected.Watsons card members are given a 15% discount. Sogurt is a nice place to chill out. tongue

Good Indonesian Food Smile May 24, 2013

This restaurant is located just opposite Great World City. This place has a rustic look. Traditional, yet uncluttered. For photos of the exterior and interior of this place, visit their website. I will provide my honest, unbiased review of what I had here.

This place offers both set meals and a la carte. They have friendly and courteous staff. You can dine inside or alfresco. Chilled plain water is provided. Service was OK. Why? Though the place was not too crowded, we did not get one of the dishes we had ordered. When we reminded the waitress, she checked with the kitchen and told us it was not ready. Thus, we had to cancel the order for that dish. It was Sayur Lodeh. Small matter.

Nasi Kuning ($2)
The serving in itself is unique. Normally, the rice is scooped in a bowl and takes that shape. For the first time, I saw a different presentation. This portion is more than enough for one person.

Tahu Telur ($8.80)

The presentation was unique. I've dined at many Indonesian Restaurants, but have not seen tahu telur presented this way. It was concealed with prawn crackers, which when removed, revealed the fresh and crispy tofu that had rich peanut sauce poured over it.

Rendang Sapi ($9.80)
Had the essential flavours and taste of coconut and rendang paste. However, this is not the best I have tasted.

Cah Kangkong ($8.80)

Sate Ayam Madura ($7.80/5 sticks)

Ayam Bumbu Rujak ($8.80)
If you do not like drumsticks, stay away from this dish. It was quite sweet for us. I did not like this.

Sop Buntut ($14.80)
This can be shared by three people.

This is the first time I am patronising the shop after its major revamp. It looked hideous before that! Well, that is history. The shop looks clean, spacious, more organised and brighter. My husband has been all praises for the food here. Being a skeptic, I had to try it to believe it. We had our brunch there. We went for the prata first. We ordered cheese, chocolate, plain and onion prata. Mine was the onion prata. They were served with fish curry. The fish curry was nice, not too sour, not too spicy. Ordinary, but went well with the prata.

Onion Prata
It has been a while since I had this kind of (I mean delicious) prata in Singapore. The last time was in KL. This prata was soft, not chewy like most of the prata you get now a days. My husband says it is because they do not buy the ready-made prata dough but make it themselves. I cannot vouch for it, but I can assure you that you will love the prata here.

Nasi Gorend Ikan Bilis with mata lembu

The Best I have had (Better than that sold two shops away from herelol)
The rice was well-cooked. A good quality rice was used. It was not oily. The anchovies were crispy.

I will certainly go back to this placesmile
