Fishball noodles Smile Dec 13, 2014

mee pok fishball noodles $3: There's usually a queue at this stall. Curious about the hype, I decided to try it out and indeed, it was a satisfying bowl of fishball noodles. The fishballs were bouncy, soft, and did taste like they were handmade. The noodles were well-cooked and the chilli complemented the noodles well. The noodles also had that springy texture and was able to hold the sauces well. I also loved the fishcakes! This is certainly worth a try smile

Sambal stingray  Smile Dec 13, 2014

Had sambal stingray for supper. I wanted to get the small one but it was out of stock (11pm). The medium size costed $12 and was worth it as slices were thick. The stingray meat was tender and the sambal was sufficiently spicy though it may be a little salty if you eat it without rice like I did. It tasted fresh and flesh was slightly sweet too. It was a yummy supper smile

I ordered the larger plate of fried kway tiao ($5) because i queued for about 20 minutes (service was rather slow). The fried kway tiao was fragrant and the pork lard enhanced its taste. The kway tiao had a sweet taste with a hint of the wok's breath. It was also very moist. The various ingredients such as the chinese sausage, beansprouts, fishcakes were fresh too. This char kway tiao tasted above average but I wouldn't queue that long for it again as I find it overrated.

HK Style Chicken with thai sauce fried rice $5.50: The thai sauce was sweet and slightly sour. The chicken was tender but the skin was rather fatty. The fried rice's texture was just right and wasn't lumpy. It was well-seasoned and wasn't salty nor sweet. It was quite yellowish though. Not sure how it got to that colour but it did not taste like it was fried with lots of soy sauce. Overall, it was a satisfying meal smile

Fishball noodles Smile Dec 12, 2014

fishball noodles $3: the noodles had a springy texture while the sauce was a little too sweet due to the generous amount of ketchup added into the mixture of sauces. The fishball noodles were done teochew style and it tasted rather decent. The fishballs were fresh, soft (probably not much gypsum powder added) and had the fishy taste, in a good way (which means they did use quality ingredients to make the fishballs unlike the factory-produced ones). The fishballs were one of the better-tasting ones. This is worth the try!
