Forlino is the perfect place for couples with the romantic settings and it is located near the river with a breathtaking view by the window.

I love their Foccacia bread! It is lightly salted I would have pack home if I could!

Crab Salad with Wild Rucola, Sweet Pea Leaves and Cantaloupe
The crab meat tastes sweet and they are quite generous with the serving of crab meat.

Pan Roasted King Scallops with French Beans and Hazelnuts
The scallops are sweet and soft in the inside. It is not hard to chew (unlike some scallops where I have to chew and chew for it to break completely) and it feels rather raw in the inside. The beans are so simple yet so yummy! I was expecting more than 2 scallops though.

Tagliatelle with Duck Confit and Goose Liver
When the dish was placed in front of me, the aroma immediately travelled to my nose. It smells SO good. I was looking forward to the foie gras and it did not fall short of my expectations. The surface has this thin crispiness and I enjoy every bite of it. The pasta has this buttery (bf said cheese) feel to it and a taste that my taste buds could not recognize. The bf thought it tastes like Mee Pok though! A pity I was unable to finish the pasta because if I did, there would be no room for the next dish!

Roasted Suckling Pig with ‘Pimento’ Peppers and Spiced Apple Sauce
I totally dig the apple sauce. The skin of the roasted suckling pig is crispy and the fats melt as I slowly savour the goodness. However, towards the thicker part of the meat, the fats remained as it was and did not "melt" in my mouth which I did not like.

Liquorice Crème Brûlée with Raspberry Gelato
The Crème Brûlée is too sweet for my liking. It is good though, for someone who really has a sweet tooth. The Gelato, on the other hand, rates just nice on the sweetness level.

*went there quite some time ago so menu may have changed!* I'll recommend this place if you're looking for a romantic date smile

Spending per head: Approximately $150(Dinner)

This (peanut butter & banana) smoothie ($9) has almond, peanut butter, milk, and banana in it. There were some larger chunks of banana in it which were not blended in well but overall it still tasted good. it was slightly sour and wasn't overly sweet. The almond taste was very faint though but the peanut butter flavour wasn't overwhelming.

Saffron Seafood stew $25: Stew was very good and wasn't too salty.etc. The seafood was fresh but some clams had the grainy texture when bit into it. Prawns were a little soft, perhaps undercooked, but fresh. The bread was slightly crisp and went well with the stew too. The snapper fish was tender and soft. Overall, it's worth a try.

Beef goulash (either $21 or $23): Thick chunks of beef, very well flavoured and tender. The spaetzle was yummy but as every bit was filled with the flavour of the goulash, the richness of the taste made it a tad cloying so it's better to share.

Prices are on the high side but they do serve some comfort food.

Had a set dinner here and the food is pretty good!

The shredded rice flour skin somewhat resembled jellyfish (if it was meat). It was rather smooth and the sauce was sweet and mildy spicy. The golden mushroom salad roll was good too. The skin was thin and slightly chewy and the roll had a hint of wasabi in it too. It may seem like a weird combination but surprisingly tasted good.

wild morel double boiled soup with yellow fungus: the soup was slightly sweet but somewhat light-tasting too. It also tasted healthy yet delicious!

The cauliflower and broccoli were sauteed and had just the right texture (not too hard or soft). The vegetables were accompanied by shredded mock ham which tasted like beancurd skin.

The vegetarian fish served with curry was the highlight of the dinner. It was my favourite dish and the best vegetarian curry I've ever had! Kinda similar to meat curry. It was fragrant and the curry was rich in flavour. The fish was made of beancurd with seaweed as substitute for the skin. Although it was drenched in the curry gravy, it did not taste soggy. The curry vegetables were soft too and tasted yummy with the curry.

fried vermicelli with shredded vegetables was moist, light-tasting but satisfying.

If you are vegetarian or love vegetarian food, try this restaurant out!

Couldn't decide where to have dinner so we settled for dinner at Grandma's. While ordering our food, we were told by the waitress that we could have the set chicken rice for $1. Since it's so cheap, why not?

The set chicken rice was really good. The rice was grainy and fragrant. The chicken was juicy and tender too. Definitely worth the money, not only because it's cheap.

Mee Goreng $9.90 - The mee goreng wasn't oily at all and this was accompanied by some crackers at the side. It was rather well-seasoned and decent too.

Overall it was a pleasant visit, much better than pappa rich!

Five and Dime is located just beside the main road and its relatively huge and brightly lit signboard is easy to spot so there is no way you can get lost when you are walking along the main road.

There is a bar counter too although the ambience resembles nothing like a bar. I love how brightly lit the environment is because it also means it is conducive for photo-taking and I like to see what I eat heehee.
Salmon Rocket

Salmon Rocket

Salmon Rocket $15
Gosh I love this!! Well, it might also be because I was too hungry. 5 generous slices of flame torched salmon sashimi wrapped with argula leaves, with wasabi mirin dressing. I couldn't taste any wasabi in the dressing though. I really love the torched flavour of the salmon sashimi (definitely on my list of favourite food) and it went really well with the flavoursome dressing of the salad.
Flat White

Flat White

Flat White $6
Their Flat White was decent but not the best I had tried.
Matcha Latte

Matcha Latte

Matcha Latte $7
I could feel a heavy powdery texture after I took my first sip which wasn't very pleasant. The matcha flavour was strong on this one. My only gripe was the powdery texture, and I think I might prefer this to Starbuck's version. It would be perfect if it was hotter too.
Fish & Chips

Fish & Chips

Fish & Chips $20

Battered shark catfish fillets served with hand cut fries. The fries were really unique. They were covered in the batter used for the fish and the batter was so crispy and thin. The fries did not taste like the typical french fries. They looked like fresh potato strips covered with batter. Instead of the usual kind of fish used in fish & chips, here they use catfish fillets. Some of the fish were soft and slightly mushy while the rest scored right in terms of texture. They also went very well with the tartar sauce which tasted slightly different from the typical tartar sauce. I am guessing it might be because they use japanese mayonnaise and also added egg? As the fish and chips were deep-fried, they were a little oily.
Mentaiko Pasta

Mentaiko Pasta

Mentaiko pasta $18
Finally tried the highly raved mentaiko pasta! Spaghetti tossed in creamy mentaiko topped with more cod fish roe. It had a fishy taste due to the cod fish roe. I find that it is better to share among 2 as the dominating flavour for the pasta is only the mentaiko so it may be gelat to finish the whole plate by yourself.

Lastly, service was friendly and I appreciated that!

It was a satisfying meal with CC and certainly worth the journey although it was one of our most (if not most) expensive cafe adventures to date.
