salted egg soft bone chicken OK Dec 13, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Indonesian | Halal

Saw an advertisement banner advertising about their salted egg chicken and it looked delicious so I went to try it out. I had their salted egg soft bone chicken with rice for $8.90. Portion was very small and the salted egg gravy was very spread across the plate, thus making it hard to scoop it. There's an additional charge for the request of more gravy too. The chicken was rather tender and went well with the salted egg gravy but it was rather boney. Taste was good but they were too stingy with the portion. The soup was ridiculously salty too. I did satisfy my salted egg cravings though.

Lunch OK Dec 13, 2014   (Related Review)

After trying the highly raved crabmeat pasta which I felt was overrated, I had the seared scallop & prawn pasta with prawn bisque sauce ($26). Linguine wasn't done in al dente style which I would very much prefer as the linguine was soaked in the watery prawn bisque sauce. The sauce had a watery texture which resembled that of gravy. There was a distinct prawn taste in the bisque. The scallops were a tad tough and wasn't really easy to chew and swallow.

My partner had the beef and red wine ragu pasta ($26). The braised oxtail in it was tender and easily absorbed the gravy. Garlic was added but it was very mild. We couldn't really taste any hint of red wine too. Overall, it tasted average.

Bibimbap OK Dec 13, 2014   (Related Review)

This time round, I tried their bibimbap. In the bibimbap, there's beansprouts, pickled vegetables, shredded cucumber and carrots, seaweed, chicken, and topped with a sunny side-up. The yolk of the egg was slightly watery but mostly overcooked. The sauce was too sweet to my liking and had a weird taste to it. Portion of ingredients was not a lot but acceptable. Because I did not use much of the sauce, the bibimbap was not really filled with flavours as most of the ingredients were not seasoned or marinated. It however tasted like a healthy meal though. I'll not be getting this again!

Plain prata OK Dec 13, 2014
Categories : Halal

Plain prata ($1): Price is reasonable considering that it is in an airconditioned food court. It was a pity that the curry was not fragrant enough and somehow tasted slightly diluted. There were some burnt spots on the prata as well. The prata was soft and slightly chewy and was only slightly oily even though it was freshly made. Overall, taste was average.

Coffee after dinner OK Dec 13, 2014
Categories : Singaporean

After dinner, we were looking for a place to have our coffee so we tried this out as there were seats available. We had the brownie ($2.90) and coffee ($1.50). The brownie was a little hard (perhaps due to it being seated in the fridge for a prolonged period of time) and it was a little dry and had to be accompanied by the coffee. The chocolate taste was rich though and tasted good. The coffee tasted like an average cup of coffee and was bitter (great for a perk-me-up) and slightly acidic too.
