Basil chicken set Smile Dec 22, 2014
Categories : Thai | Food Court | Chinese Soup

Settled for a quick meal here at the kopitiam and I went straight for the thai food as it's one of my favourite cuisines.

basil chicken with rice and tom yum soup combo for $7. If you're craving for thai food and want a variety in a meal, try their boat sets out which come with a small bowl of tom yum soup. The portion is just right for one person even though the bowl may seem small. There's a few mushrooms in it but still worth it as the tom yum soup is surprisingly good - appropriately sour and spicy. The basil chicken was soft and tender and the gravy was flavourful but not salty. It is also served with papaya salad which has a soft texture but not sweet though. The fried egg tastes average and the yolk is overcooked.

I'll be back again smile

hokkien prawn noodles Smile Dec 21, 2014

Hokkien prawn noodle (around $5): I liked that the hokkien mee is very wet and moist. The prawns are fresh and are naturally sweet too. Noodles texture is more to the soft side but not overcooked. The sambal chilli is sufficiently spicy and its slight sweetness and spiciness go well with the noodles and its gravy. The prawn flavour cannot really be tasted in the gravy though. The gravy isn't salty and has just the right taste. Portion is also filling.

Fritters & Fried oyster omelette OK Dec 21, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Food Court

Durian fritters $2
Banana fritters $1.50
The fried fritters are crisp and are not dry. They are however served cold as they are left there for some time and not freshly fried. The banana fillings are moist, naturally sweet and soft while the durian fillings' texture is something like durian mousse but thicker than that. Overall, it's worth the try.

Fried oyster omelette $5: The portion is really small and at such a price, it isn't worth it. However, I do like that the starchy parts are not overwhelming. They're soft, and complement the fried egg well. One downside is that it's rather oily. Oysters are fresh.

Hokkien mee OK Dec 21, 2014
Categories : Malaysian | Chinese | Food Court

It's not common to find stalls selling malaysian style hokkien mee.

Hokkien mee $6: The hokkien mee has already been prepared and served to me the moment I made payment. It was still warm though. The noodles resembled somewhat like udon. They were thick and smooth. The shrimps were rather small. Overall, it was a little salty probably due to the black sauce and did not have much flavour in them. The chilli was good though, spicy enough and slightly tangy.

Brunch OK Dec 21, 2014

Prawn aglio olio: prawns tasted like frozen ones (as you can see from photo, almost void of color). Bacon was very shredded too. There were not much ingredients but fortunately, the taste of the aglio olio made up for it. The garlic was fragrant and it was slightly spicy for me. At $16.90, I don't think it's really worth it.

Skinny fries tossed in white truffle oil and parmesan cheese $9.90: truffle flavour was almost non-existent. It was very faint unfortunately.

Croissant with ham and scrambled eggs $10.50: My friend ordered this and I tried the croissant. The pastry was flaky and crisp with a delightful buttery flavour. At $10.50, it's rather affordable for cafe food as well. The croutons were crispy too.

Overall, food's average but it's a nice place to have a meal and catch up with your friends.
