Despite being a little more pricier than other burger joints, i find their burgers are value for what you're paying. I

It has been quite a while since we had burgers, so we decided to hop into carls for our usual favorites!

This time round, we tried the Chilli cheese beef burger and western bacon cheese burger with chilli cheese fries for both.

The cheese was extremely generous on the serving for the fries. Good but sinful stuff.
The burgers was huge and satisfying - especially for the chilli cheese burger. ( I guess I have a soft spot for that).

Service wise, I think the queue was handled quite well despite it being crowded.
Staff was friendly with a smile on all the time.

Thumbs up.

Worst Steamboat in my life. Cry Dec 13, 2010

Categories : Steamboat/Hot Pot | BBQ | Kids-Friendly

I bet this has to be the worst steamboat I ever tried.

Fascinated by their TV advertisement endorsed by 'Aunty Lucy', my friends suggested here as they've never tried rotary steamboat concept before.

It was proven to be a wrong move.

Food: Nowhere near fresh. A small crab and some frozen scallop was given as well as come better cut beef & pork for shabu shabu. All customer was entitled to only one serving and the portion is really pathetic for 3 pax.
Cooked food was cold and hard, as thou as it just defroze from the freezer.
Drinks are the usual kind of cordial mix.

Nevermind about that.

Hygiene: Worst of all! All the food, raw and cooked are placed side by side on the rotary. Imagine a plate of bloody pig liver side by side with a slice of cake and sweet & sour pork - WITHOUT any covering. The hygiene level failed badly.

As expected - I went on a diarrhea in the middle of the night and it's proven that there is something wrong with the food over there.

It cost $85 for 3pax. Simply overpriced.
They wouldnt last long, if they continue the way it is despite their media publicity.

Mentioning Tony Roma, I think most will probably think that they're famous for their ribs.
Arrived at Tony Roma with some expectation of decent ribs but I guess it's pretty much a let down.
Deco was pretty cosy and American themed. Pleasant first impression.
Took a glance through the menu and concluded that a slab of ribs would be too much for me to chunk down, so I decided to go easy and ordered the Ribs and fish combo ($28.90). Had 2 starchy side dishes (fries and marsh potato).

The verdict: It didnt live up well to my expectation. Ribs was marinated well but its nowhere near tender. Infact I found it rather tough.
Fish was pretty decent thou, flaky outside, moist inside. I think the price tag could have fetch a much more better deal at Billy bomber.

Pretty much average to me.

Healthy 'Semi-Buffet' Smile Nov 30, 2010

Sizzler are not just good at their steaks, infact I think they have done a better job at their salad bar range.
The salad came as a set with the main dish which I've ordered.
The meal start off with some soup from the bar. I had clam chowder which are pretty decent on it's taste. Thick and flavorful but short of sight of clams. .

Salad bar: I love their self assembled salad bar. Pretty comprehensive range for the setup, infact their salad bar is the highlight of the entire dining experience at sizzler.

Main course: Teriyaki and mustard chicken, I think it's just passable for me. Pretty light on terayaki taste. (or it's just me?)

I think this is somewhere I'd head if I'm feeling a little more 'health conscious' for the day.
Price wise, I think it's pretty reasonable for a healthier 'semi-buffet range.'

Wonderful Pork Porridge Smile Nov 30, 2010

Categories : Hawker Centre | Porridge/Congee

Apart from the famous bedok 85 bak chor mee, I think this stall does worth a review.
This stall have a roaring business which I've ever waited 40mins for a good bowl of porridge.
My personal favorite would be the pork porridge.Very well boiled broth as the porridge base and it's texture was smooth and silky.
The amount of mince pork are generous for the price of $3.00.
Pork was pretty fresh, marinated to the right degree before it's being boil with the porridge.

It's one of the must try stall at bedok 85.
