Ha Ha Ha Meesiam ! Smile Nov 29, 2010

Categories : Malay | Hawker Centre

The mee siam here have a pretty nostalgic old school feeling to me.
It's basically a very simple yet appetizing dish.
I can remember the nice shrimp paste fragrance on the piping hot gravy which has a right amount of sweet, sour and spicy punch.

They also served mee rebus and laksa here as well, but mee siam would still be my individual preference.

Too crowded during lunch time? No problem, they'll gladly pack the gravy separately for you when you take away. This ensures that the meesiam will remains in their best form until they are ready to eat!

Do go early as they close quite early.

Appealing but average pasta OK Nov 29, 2010

Categories : Restaurant

Went on for a casual late lunch at breek. As the space are are limited over here, i was surprised that there wasnt much people at the restaurant.

Without waiting further, I ordered for myself the seafood pasta set accompanied with Iced lemon tea.

Waiting time is rather decent, it came much earlier than I expected.
The seafood pasta was beautifully decorated and I guess they deserve some applaud for their creative effort.
In terms of taste, it was rather disappointing thou.

The tomato sauce doesnt seem to mix well with the pasta and seafood.
Seafood was bland and it didnt absorb any tomato flavor. There was not much seafood flavor in the whole pasta and it just ruin the nice presentation.

Overall, I find it below average.
Nice place to chill out with friends, but not for the food.

Local Food @ Hotel OK Nov 29, 2010
Categories : Singaporean | Hotel | Restaurant | High Tea | Halal | Buffet

Impressive decoration on the exterior but I guess it's only an average or below average buffet for Singaporean.

They serve only Asian food here. International Buffet lover you WILL be dissapointed here.

Many local fare such as carrot cakes, rojak, prata, popiah and some other common local fare you can find in a Kopitiam setup.
Desert section was rather lacking as the selection are really limited over here.
Ice cream, ice kachang - Not unusual for a Singaporean.

Overall, the buffet spread was good but not fantastic.

If you need an orientation to overseas visitor on local food, perhaps this is the place you can look at.
However for the price tag, you can eat till you explode perhaps at a local restaurant establishment for similar food.

Good food, good time. Smile Nov 29, 2010

Heavily decorated using bamboo, it gives me a very traditional japanese feeling upon entering the restaurant.
They have an incredible long queue but since I was craving for some Japanese food, I reluctantly queue outside for a good 15minutes.

Ordered Fried Garlic rice and Salmon Sashimi rice.

Verdict: Absolutely worth the queuing!

Garlic rice was well executed and every bites I feel as thou I was indulging in some garlic-land. Excellent!
The salmon here was fresh and no fishy smell at all. I could taste the sweetness of the fresh fish and a tint of saltiness from the fish roes.

Price is reasonable and the quality make the price worth it.

It's Ben & Jerry.! Smile Nov 29, 2010
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Ice Cream and Gelato

Does Ben & Jerry need anymore introduction?

I guess not. It's not a renowned international Ice cream brand for no reasons.
I love this branch which is located at demsey as the decor gives us a very fairy tale 'cottage' feeling.

Nice play to chill out after a hearty dinner at dempsey.

We ordered the chocolate & sorbet ice cream. No regrets.
No doubt the prices are pretty premium, but you're getting premium product as well.

Thumbs up.!
