Swedish Cuisine anyone ?  OK Nov 08, 2010

I recently went to Fika Swedish Cafe for my Birthday celebration.
I wanted to try something different for to mark another year of my life.

Fika seems a great choice given that it is a Swedish Cafe and i have not tried Swedish food before.
It is centrally located and the ambience is just nice.

We went over for lunch on a Monday and there were already 3 groups having their lunch there.

Ambience: It is a quaint and cosy place and the decoration is really nice, made up of mostly white furniture.

Food: We ordered the Grilled Salmon and the Swedish Meatballs.
The Grilled Salmon is nothing to be raved about however i love the Meatballs!

My Fiance first thought the serving won't be enough for him cos there werent many meatballs anyway
but boy were we surprised at how full we were.

But then again, it could be the potatoes we ate (we ate lots of it!)

We also order the Cheesy Wedges and it does taste great but not as different as any wedges served in other western stalls.

The Mushroom soup was great though and totally handmade.

It was an overall good experience but i don't feel it is any different from any other western restaurants.

However, i would come back because of the good service and the ambience.

I recently brought over my friend from India to Sushi tei as she wanted Japanese food.

There were not much crowd at their paragon Branch during Lunch time, so it was quite a peaceful lunch we had.
Service was great. The staff were attentive to our needs and filled up our Tea promptly.

The sashimi could have been better.. i just think its not worth the price we were paying.

The tempura don't taste as nice too and i think there are nicer tempuras i have tasted before.

The Unagi was great though. We finished that up first cos it was one of the nicest dish we ordered apart from the usual sushi.

While Sushi Tei has a great environment which u can totally bring your friends to, it is not the place to go to if you wanna try authentic japanese food.

However, i would definitely go back there again because of the good service and environment

If you are looking for a nice place to chill with your friends at Arab Street,
you might want to consider Wanna B.

It is also one of the nicest Halal Cafe that serves a variety of Western dishes.

I especially love their Mushroom Soup which i believe is home-made.
It is thick and creamy but does not make u "jelak". It is served with slice of Garlic bread which tastes so-so to me.

But the Mushroom soup is a must to orderas your starter.

Another western fare which i love would have to be their Sirloin Steak.
It is hard to find good and Halal Sirloin steak. Wanna B would be the reight place to bring your Muslim friends!

If you however, prefer something Asian, try their Spicy Fusion Fried Rice.
It is actually loosely termed as the Nasi Goreng Kampong and it is such a refreshing change from the Mamak shop!

Recently, we ran out of ideas of where to go for a Birthday celebration so we decided to try ordering in Golden Pillow.
The delivery took about 1 hour to reach us, so do call them earlier to avoid delays.

They were packed nicely in a box (like a cake) and amazingly arrived our place safe and sound with no spillage whatsoever,

When we opened the box, we were shocked to see how huge it really is.
We cut the bun into 4, peel it open and it reveals a reasonable amount of curry packed in a plastic bag.
Normally I would find it yucky to see curry packed in plastic bags but amazingly, it looks really2 clean, so I had no qualms of eating it right from the plastic bag itself.

I really love the bun. It is super soft and have this subtle butter flavor on it that I can eat on it’s own.
The curry was really yummy too and they gave use a reasonable amount of chicken.

I would say that one bun is ideal for 4-6 pax at least.
I swear, it is HUGE!

The Best Fried Chicken in Town!  Smile Oct 29, 2010

It was yet another trip to Arnold Fried Chicken!

If you have been to the outlet at City Plaza, you would know that you have to order at the counter,
they will give you a queue No and you will have to wait for your turn to eat.

We waited for at least 45mins before we could get in but that 45min was totally worth it!

Please do not expect tip-top service from the crew. You be lucky if they even smile at you.
But understably, the place is a mayhem!

The Potato platter is a must-have as your starter.
I especially love the potato chip and criss-cross fries.

When u are at Arnold's, you definitely must order the Fried Chicken!
It's just something about the chicken that makes you keep coming back.

The skin is really crispy but not as oily and fatty as it's competitor.
We always fight for the skin ( though of course it is still fattening!)

The Fish and Chips are not that bad as well, but the star of the menu would definitely be the Fried Chickens themselves
