Come here for Mee Soto!  Smile Jun 21, 2011

i personally love the Mee Soto and the Soup Begedil.
The soup is quite flavorful and the begedil (potato ball is awesome)

Basically the soup begedil is just the normal soto soup with cabbages and they will put a huge Begedil (triple the size of the normal ones) in the soup. Trust me, u will be full even without eating the noodles.

Don't ask for extra chilli though cos the aunty will normally give a bit of chilli padi and trust me, that alone can burn your mouth! haha

Fish Ban Mian  OK Jun 21, 2011

It is not bad, not too fantastic but enough to make you full.
The fish are quite fresh and the soup base are quite light.
There is no fishy smell to it so i'm quite fine with it.
but maybe because they put lotsa ginger

so there might be ginger aftertaste to it which some may not like.

Comes with Chilli Padi (which are coarsely chopped), i nearly choked on them. lol

Come here for buffets!  Smile Jun 21, 2011

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Halal | Buffet

As per my title, come here if you want to have affordable buffet.
The selection is quite good, especially for dinner servings.
The sashimi is fresh and they top up the sashimi area quite frequently.

However, because it's quite affordable, it is mostly frequent by families.
So do expect the place to be kinda rowdy sometimes.

Their Teppanyaki are not bad too but it takes quite some time so only order if you can wait.

Cereal Squid Please!  Smile Jun 21, 2011

Categories : Malay | Coffeeshop | Halal

Mak's Place is my go-to place if i want to have the cereal squid.
I can;t find any other Halal restaurant that serves Cereal Squid / Cereal Prawns as nice as theirs!

In fact, i dare say it's their signature dish.

Don't expect tip-top service though, since it's just a coffeeshop style but the boss is really a nice guy who will come by and say hello and ask if everything is ok.

The filipino waitress are a bit black-faced though.

Anothe rthing to try would be the Salted Egg Crab. Really nice and creamy!
Their porridge is not bad too!

Amara Breakfast Buffet  OK Jun 21, 2011
Categories : Hotel | Pasta | Brunch

During a recent staycation at Amara, we were also entitled to the Breakfast Buffet at Amara.
To be really honest, the buffet wasn't fantastic.

I had expected a wider range of food but alas, it was the usual stuffs.

Surprisingly, one of the things i enjoyed has to be the Ginseng Porridge.
It wasn't overpowering. The taste was pretty mild and tastes good with the accompanying peanuts and anchovies.

The ambience of the place was really great though (we chose the outdoor seats) and really felt like it was a holiday
elsewhere but not in SG!
