Yummy ice cream for my tummy :D Smile Oct 04, 2012

Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato

My friend and I headed over to Cold Stone Creamery for dessert because it was one of the few places that was still opened after having dinner at Antoinette. Each of us ordered a scoop of ice cream (4oz) with a dipped waffle. I had the chocolate devotion flavour with a dipped cone.

Like
The brownie bits in chocolate devotion. Nothing makes me happier than brownie bits in chocolate ice cream! They were generous with the brownie bits.

Dislikes
-Not enough seats even on a weekday night. My friend and I had to stand around and wait for seats.
-The chocolate dipped waffle paired with a dipped waffle was too much for me, both my friend and I got sick of it after awhile. And had mild sore throats. I'll be getting a plain waffle with a chocolate flavour next time!

Spending: $7 for a 4oz scoop with a dipped cone

Girls' Night out at Antoinette Smile Oct 04, 2012

It was mid-week and stressed from school deadlines, I headed to Antoinette with a close girlfriend for dinner. I love the decor of the outlet at Mandarin Gallery. It was very posh and the seats were super comfy, I had space to slip my laptop in beside me on the same chair. I ordered toast with smoked duck breast and an additional scrambled egg ($18) while my friend ordered the prawn crumble pasta ($26). The duck breast was quite soft and not too chewy. I really love the toast and scrambled egg though. The toast was crunchy yet soft in the middle and had a nice sweet taste while the scrambled eggs just had the right amount of milk in it.

My friend's pasta had a good number of prawns (6-8 prawns), she had so many she couldn't finish it and had to pass so me to me haha. They were very well-seasoned. Overall, I had a fairly good impression of Antoinette. A little pricey but I will definitely be going back to try other dishes.

Great Ramen! Smile Oct 02, 2012

Headed down to Santouka with a close friend of mine to try the ramen. I've heard raving reviews about this place and had high expectations. Fortunately, they were met. The ramen noodles were springy and the broth was full of flavour. I particularly enjoyed the cha siu because it was soft and had just the right amount of fat.

The chawanmushi was also one of the yummiest I've ever had, would definitely recommend the chawanmushi for anyone who ever eats at Santouka.

- Being able to order the ramen in small, medium or large bowls (good for a small eater who can't finish standard meal sizes)

I was at Nex with my boyfriend and he wanted to have xiao long bao's so we went into Din Tai Fung. I ordered DTF's famous chicken soup with noodles while my boyfriend ordered 2 servings of xiao long bao's.

The chicken soup was a real winner. It was rich and full of flavour. A little oily for my liking but overall a very tasty soup. The chicken was cooked very well, the meat was still soft and succulent when I bit into it and all the herbs in the soup had given it a rich flavour. I would definitely order this dish if I went back again.

An Unexpected Pleasant Meal Smile Oct 01, 2012

Categories : Singaporean | Bakery | Café

I was at Bugis Junction with my boyfriend and we decided to try this cafe that we had walked past on previous occasions. It is tucked into an innocuous corner and didn't seem to promise much but there was a 20% discount on all items in the menu (only between 3- 5.30pm) so we gave it a try.

Each main comes with a mushroom soup that contain salmon chunks and 2 sides (i.e. fries, potato wedges, potato salad, garden salad, onion rings). We ordered a grilled chicken chop with mushroom sauce and fish and chips. And an additional plate of fried calamari rings.

The grilled chicken chop mushroom sauce had a certain oomph that I haven't tasted at other places before. The meat was also succulent and soft.

Dislikes
A charge of 30 cents for a cup of ice water (that's probably from the tap). I feel restaurants should never charge patrons for water, especially when there is a 10% service charge.

Spending: About $27
