It was my first time trying at Wah Lok. Located at Carlton hotel, I about them having some awardss but have not really had the opportunity to try their Dim Sums. Heard that their carrot cakes are unique different from other places. It definitely is, it came in a bowl. I ordered quite a number of dishes including other dishes such as Liu Sha Bao (Salted Egg Custard Bun). Char siew pork bun, Siew mai (Pork Shrimp Dumpling), Ha gao (Shrimp Dumpling), Pork Ribs, Egg Tarts, Chee Cheong Fun (Rice Noodle Roll), Crispy Skin Roll and some other Dim Sums. My favourite among the rest will be Char Siew pork bun. It wasn’t the typical Char Siew Pork Bun but the Polo Bun kind stuffed with Char Siew. Another favourite will be the Chee Cheong Fun. The skin thickness is just right and not too thick. Generally the Dim Sums here are delicious and fresh. It actually quite affordable though if you order for sharing. I’m certain that if you visit, you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Nyoya Laksa @ Katong Smile Jun 13, 2013

I happened to pass by this stall at Katong and needless to say, when you are there, its Laksa time. Katong has a number of Laksa stalls but I happened to pass by Glory Catering after alighting from the bus and was attracted by the many Nonya Kueh that they sell. I was also drawn by the fragrant of the food from this stall. They have a number of Peranakan dishes which I would love to try. I love Nyoya dishes cause of its variety. Decided to order the Laksa since I’m in Katong and glad that I ordered it. Well, it came with generous amount of Prawns and lemon grass sprinkled at the top. The Laksa soup was really flavourful as well. Rich in flavour with the Nyoya taste. I finished every bit of it. Until now I’m still missing it.

Pork Belly Ban Mian Smile Jun 13, 2013

I'm a Ban Mian Lover and always ready to try new Ban Mian. My friend has introduced me this Ban Mian stall at Ang Mo Kio Coffee Shop. It is just next to Jubilee. I ordered the signature Pork Belly Ban Mian as recommended by the stall. It my first time still having Pork Belly Ban Mian, I must say it was really good. Initially I was a bit sceptical cause did not really try a Pork Belly Ban Mian before but it was really delicious I must say. I ordered the soup one. There is also a choice for the dry one. The broth is flavoursome and rich in taste. I love the chilli as well. You must grab the chilli when you eat at this place. The chilli is fresh and goes really well with the Ban Mian. The chilli is not the usual watery kind that you eat with Ban Mian elsewhere. Will definitely go back to this Ban Mian place and perhaps try their other Ban Mians.

Delicious Congee Smile Jun 07, 2013

I will always head to crystal jade when I am craving for a bowl of congee. Crystal jade is one of those places that you can have delicious congee somewhat like Hong Kong style congees when you are craving for it. The congee is very smooth and tasty. You can choose to have different ingredients that you want to for the congee. I ordered the chicken duck congee and it was topped with generous amount of spring onions when it came. I finished every bit of it. Other recommendations that I have tried are the meatballs congee as well as the slice fish congee.

Thai Style Chicken

I happened to know about Pauline Thai Food from a friend. This Thai food stall is situated in Golden Mile Hawker at the second level near Lavender. I feel this stall serves really authentic Thai food at affordable prices. I’m not sure but I think the chef is Thai. I ordered the Tom Yum soup and the Thai style fried chicken. The Tom Yum soup had generous amount of spices and ingredients. The taste is just like how you have it in Thailand itself. So far, still the best tom yum so far from what I have tasted before. It was super spicy too for me. For the price and taste, I really feel that it is worth it at $5 per bowl. I also ordered the Thai style chicken to go along which was crispy and delicious. It tasted like prawn paste chicken ($8) and I really enjoyed it.
