Meatball fever! Smile Aug 16, 2012
Categories : Western Variety | Kids-Friendly

Everyone knows Ikea and their meatballs. People love them so much, there is probably more people in the restaurant than in the furniture shop itself. I try my best not to dine there, because of the extremely long queue, even though I love the food.

I got myself this chicken drumstick set for about $6+, and I think it's average tasting because they mass cooked it. Same for the fries, it's already soggy when it's on my plate. In short, it's a disappointment.

My mom got this noodles soup for only $1.90. Although it taste rather plain and average, but it's worth every buck! You can't even find a noodle soup going for $1.90 in a hawker centre!

Save the best for the last. The meatball is one of the most awesome processed food ever. The meatball isn't too salty, and it makes a great combination with the cream sauce and jam!w

Vegetarian Bee Hoon OK Aug 14, 2012
Categories : Hawker Centre | Vegetarian

Haven't had vegetarian for a long long time, so I decided to get myself a plate of Vegetarian Bee Hoon to relive the taste. I ordered 2 char siew dishes and one keropok to go with my bee hoon, and it only cost $2!

This stall is very generous in the portions they serve, especially with the bee hoon. The taste of the bee hoon, however, isn't to my liking. It is much too dry and not tasty. The sauce that supposed to go with it is way too less. But it makes up with the side dishes, which is quite tasty.

Even though it's really cheap, but I doubt I'll be patronizing this stall again as it doesn't suit my taste.

Char Siew Rice Smile Aug 04, 2012

Newton Food Centre may be a famous food centre that many foreigners visit, but it is still a great dining location for locals.

I bought this Char Siew Rice from Kwee Heng for $3, and it comes with a fairy large amount of Char Siew, and free herbal soup! The taste is slightly above average, but add a little of their chili and it becomes awesome! The chili has a great flavour and is rather spicy, but really suits my taste.

Recommended to try if you happen to be around the area!

Laksa Everything! Smile Aug 04, 2012

Came to Laksania today to try their food because I heard they don't just serve normal laksa, but they prepare all sorts of dishes of laksa flavour, such as burgers and fried rice.

I ordered a Laksa Chicken Rice for $10.50, which I feel is a little too expensive compared to the other dishes in the restaurant, but went ahead with the order because it's a chef recommended dish.

The Laksa Chicken Rice is packed full of goodies. In the small claypot, there is not just rice and chicken, but also long beans, carrot, cabbage and enoki mushroom. However, this dish does not deliver in the taste. It is a rather simple dish to cook, so the key lies in the sauce and chicken. The chicken is fried alright, still juicy inside, but the laksa sauce is rather bland, and flavour needs to be stronger. There is also no laksa sauce left for the rice, so it's all plain white rice in the bowl.

Overall, the Laksa Chicken Rice is ok tasting, but not worth paying $10.50 for. I'll be better off paying $6.50 for a normal bowl of laksa of theirs and it tastes so much better.

Average Mixed Veg Rice OK Aug 04, 2012
Categories : Coffeeshop

This area is quite limited in terms of variety of food, so I settled for a plate of mixed vegetable rice.

I ordered sweet and sour pork, fried eggs, and potato, which is considered 1 meat and 2 veg, and it cost only $2.50. I find it very economical indeed, and the portion just right. However, this stall does not fair very well when it comes to taste. The food is slightly cold and taste average only, nothing notable or special.

I may come back here again if I'm looking for a fast meal at a cheap price.
