Flamed Grilled Chicken OK Jul 04, 2012

Walked past this restaurant in Vivocity many times, and I could always smell a nice aroma at the restaurant. So finally, I decided to give it a try.

Since the signature dish is flame grilled chicken, I got myself a 1/2 chicken for $23.40(w/ GST) to share with my mom. The 1/2 chicken also comes with 2 side dishes, and there are about 10 sides to choose from.

There are 4 different flavours to choose from. It's basically the same pepper sauce but in different level of spiciness. I picked the 2nd least spicy flavour during my order, but when the chicken came, it tasted like no sauce has been cooked with it, and I see 4 full bottles of the pepper sauce is sitting on the table waiting to be poured.

The chicken tasted average and some parts of it is rather dry, but I liked how it goes with the sauce. I would describe the sauce like pepper in lemon sauce. Spicy and sour. However, I feel that the price is much too high, because the portion is quite small for sharing.

In Conclusion, I won't recommend this restaurant because the high price. For this high price, I would be expecting either a much bigger portion or a much better cooked chicken.

Tea C Peng Smile Jul 04, 2012

Being next to Day Night Fried Kway Teow, this is naturally the first choice for drinks when having a plate of fried kway teow.

I ordered a cup of Teh C peng (Iced Tea with evaporated milk) for $1. I consider that pretty cheap for a drink like this. In addition, the cheap price does not compromise quality, with the tea and evaporated milk flavour quite strong.

The stall is run by an old lady, so have to be patient when waiting for the drink. Recommended!

Visited another of my favorite stall around my home. Just had a plate of this on Sunday and I'm back again, on Tuesday.

Starting at a price of $2.50, this Fried Kway Teow is definitely worth your money with the all the ingredients used and the portion of it. What I like most about this stall is that they use lots of dark sauce to fry the kway teow, and when served up, it's still very moist, but most importantly, not very oily. As for the ingredients, they use "lap cheong" inside the kway teow and really spice up this dish.

I highly recommend this stall for anyone who loves fried kway teow. I've recommended this stall to a few friends who drop by my place and I haven't been wrong about it.

Ban Mian! Smile Jul 04, 2012

This ban mian stall below my house is one of my most visited stall. I've been eating at this stall for at least 5 years.

I ordered a bowl of Ban Mian with Chicken meat for $3. (it comes with vege, but in the picture it doesn't, because the stall auntie knows that I don't like vege). The soup base is prepared daily with fresh pork, and taste really good. To make the soup better, I recommend adding some of the pepper that is provided.

Noodles are also hand made from dough, and painstakingly slowly rolled out. The result is noodles that are not too hard or soft. Another one of my favorite is the ikan bilis. Add them into the soup and it goes really well with the noodles by adding flavor and texture.

There's a reason why there's a long queue during lunch hour every weekday, because it's good!

As usual, after meal I would like to have a serving of ice kacang.

The ice kacang comes at a cool price of $1.20, and the portion is quite big for this price. What I love most about this stall is the very fine ice shavings. It feels really soft and melts instantly inside my mouth. Ingredients are also given very generously. However, I feel that it will be even better if there is more sugar syrup, as it becomes bland when I work my way to the centre of the ice mountain.

My brother bought the chendol from the same stall, which has a very strong and sweet coconut milk taste, and goes very well with the ice shavings.

Highly recommended! Do give it a try!
