Lousy service, bad food Cry Jul 30, 2014

Categories : Western Variety | Café | Burgers and Sandwiches | Brunch

I came here with a group of friends during the lunch hours on Saturday. We ordered "Finger-O-Fish" and "Sausage and Fries Fest".

I was appalled by their lousy service. When we asked how long more we had to wait, the waiter replied "Sorry, we're preparing your order as we have a lot of orders from the other table." Shouldn't you add more kitchen staff during peak hours to solve this problem rather than giving those excuses to your customers? We waited one good hour for the food (yes, one hour!). And when I asked a teaspoon to stir my latte, the waiter replied "Don't you have it on the plate?" I was like "Duh!" If I had it, I wouldn't have asked you for it, right?

When the food was served, it looked nice. But I was wrong. It tasted horrible. The fish burger patty was dry, bland. The truffle fries was cooked in a burnt oil leaving bitter taste on my mouth.

The sausage platter wasn't any different. We were overwhelmed by the saltiness of the curly fries. Definitely wouldn't come back here!

Casual Korean Dining Restaurant OK Jul 30, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Korean | Restaurant

Although Seoul Yummy is not the best Korean restaurant in town, it certainly has loyal fans as it's always crowded. Perhaps because of their centralized locations and Korean theme interior, most of the patrons are teenagers and young adults.

We ordered  Army's Stew (Buddae Jjigae) for two pax which included the stew, two rice, dessert and two drinks. It was served with beef, pork, tofu, tteokbokki, mushrooms and noodles. The kimchi-based broth wasn't as original as those in Korea. I've been here on couple of occassions and I find that the food was mediocre. But if you crave for Korean food and can't get the best one, you might want to settle for the second or even third best.

As for the dessert, we chose Yogurt with Jellies. This dessert was amazing! The soft serve yogurt was accompanied with jellies, mango, and kiwi slices, on top of shaved ice. Love the balance between the sour yogurt and the sweet jellies.

Bland Soup but Awesome Toppings OK Jul 28, 2014

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

Bye bye MOS burger... Hi SIFU! This newly opened restaurant serves Cantonese dishes.

The dish I ordered was rice noodles topped with fish cakes and the other one was topped with prawn rolls.

There were two options to choose from; rice noodles and hor fun. The broth itself was bland but the fish cakes were pretty tasty. If you eat a lot, perhaps you should order more side dishes as the noodle portions were very small.

The must-try side dish were the prawn toasts. They were crispy and tasty.
A must-try!

A must-try!

I had to come back here cos it was full house the other day and didn't get a chance to try this.
The first time I came, I had to wait outside without any staff greeting us. After few minutes, some patrons in front of us told us that we need to go to the counter and put our name on the list in which they would call us if there was table available. Looking at the queue (5 groups ahead of us), we decided to go somewhere else and I didn't receive any call from them that night. Lucky that we decided not to wait.

So, I came back for lunch this time. There were many people queueing the other night and so I thought it had to be good. There was no queue during lunch time though.

They serve 4 different flavours: sweet, soy, spicy, and original. Set lunch I ate was served with seaweed rice and kimchi. The batter was crispy and the rice had a unique texture to it. But the kimchi was too acidic.

Excellent Food Cosy Space Smile Jul 31, 2014

Despite waiting for 15 minutes on a weekday (and for lunch, mind you), the food certainly worth the wait. We ordered creamy salmon spaghetti and spaghetti served with shredded duck meat.

The creamy salmon spaghetti was very rich, cheesy, and creamy. Well, probably not the healthiest but who cares if it tasted great? tongue

The spaghetti was served with shredded duck meat. This one was spicy but didn't overpower the overall taste of the dish. It was fragrant and the herb mixture was awesome.
