Dinner @ Cova, Pasticceria OK Jan 18, 2012

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Desserts and Cakes

Wanted to try the DBS one for one set dinner promotion, but end we couldnt meet the terms and condition so then settled for the UOB one for one ala crate (condition was to also order an appetiser)

Bread and Biscuits (traditional starters to go along with Olive oil and vinegar)

Rossini (salad appetiser, maybe not used to italian food, dont really like the cheese)

Cod Fillet (Very fresh and tender, sauce not really getting to use to that kind of taste, tomato cherry is juicy, but for $34 bucks i would expect a little mashed potatoes on the base because the Beef Tenderloin have mashed potatoes beneath it)

Beef Tenderloin (Nice, love the mashed potatoes topped with some vegetables, tomato cherry is juicy, all for $38)

Tiramisu Cake (Not Nice at all, disappointed) Cakes and Desserts are available on 50% after 8pm.. but only for takeout.

Overall i think it is way too over price to patronize this cafe. prefer my high tea experience as before.

Dinner @ Next Door Deli Smile Jan 18, 2012

Dinner @ Ang Mo Kio's Next Door Deli

Took a 15min walk from Ang Mo Kio MRT to reach Next Door Deli (a healthy walk before a dinner is good i guess, thank god there is am indoor aircon area for the customers, like the alfresco area took kinda cute and like a bit "garden" too will be great there is fans outside too) first thought after stepping in the shop, kinda lost and dunno where to look at although there is Guiding Board of Step 1 to 3, it is nice to know what is recommended by the Media and what is popular written on the menu board next to the dishes. it will be good if the staff could guide the customers or be slightly friendly and approach the customers.

Wok Fried Laksa Noodles With Chicken Wing and Fish Cake (Very different from normal Wet Laksa, even it is dry but the fragrance of wet Laksa is still there, Chicken Wing is tasty and not too oily, this dish is a MUST TRY) **Note that the deli serves Their Signature Laksa and Mee Siam every alternate week. For just only $6

Grilled Chicken Steak with Mashed Potatoes, Garlic Bread and Garden Vegetables with Thousand Island dressing (The grilled/roasted chicken was mind blowing! The chicken skin is amazingly crispy while the meat is tender underneath, mashed potatoes are those are not fully mashed so still can feel the little bits of potatoes in your mouth which is good, the garlic bread is way better than Hans ones!) For just only $7.80

Sea Salt Brownies Popsicle With Vanilla Ice Cream (The thick chocolate covered the Brownie Popsicle allows you to eat it jus like a ice cream, really one of its kind) at only $2.80

great to know this little heart-warming place in the HDB Neighbourhood area, I will definitely go back there again!

CNY Lunch @ Paradise Inn Smile Jan 18, 2012

CNY Lunch @ West Coast Plaza's Paradize Inn with fellow colleagues (10 of us), we ordered one of their CNY Prosperity set menu for $318 , and also some addtional dishes. They did not serve us the food accordingly to the flow shown as in the set menu, friendly customer service. Although overall is a little expensive for $45 per pax.

Pictures shown,
Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng (One of the best Yu Sheng i ever had with right mix of right ingredients, a must have)

Crisp-fried Crystal Prawns in Wasabi Mayo Sauce (Crispy outside, chewy inside, although overall taste normal and this dish can be found easily else where)

Traditional Double-boiled Soup (Pork Rib Wintermelon Soup) (很香,很浓, a Must have)

Hot Plate Tofu with Preserved Cai Xin (Very Very Nice, exterior of the tofu was deep fried until very crispy and the inner part of the tofu is soft and smooth. Must Try)

Sautéed Venison with Ginger and Spring Onions (A little oily though the meat it tender)

Fried Rice with Chinese Sausage and Mushroom (Speechless, damn freaking nice!, Must try!)

炸五香圈 (Not bad, can try, full of meat and is quite chewy in a way)

Sauteed Asparagus with Spicy Homemade Sauce (Not bad not spicy though, not my favourite dish, but the homemade sauce is good to eat with rice)

Crisp-fried Shrimp Paste Chicken (Quite Good, worth trying although it is quite home flavour)

Pictures not shown,

Steamed Silver Cod Fish in Supreme Soya Sauce (Cod fish is fresh, standard taste)

Homemade Barley was normal too.

Mango Sago (杨枝甘露) (Totally can forget about this dessert, not nice at all)

Yam Cake and 猪长粉 (LOVE LOVE LOVE the Yam Cake and goes well with the 猪长粉 and )

Traditional Cantonese Glutinous Rice - One of the Best Glutinous Rice that you can found in Singapore! (Very rich in taste, Must Try! The common ones you ever taste before are normally in black color, told by my colleague that the traditional ones are in white color.)

Lunch @ Vivo City's Sushi Tei Smile Jan 18, 2012

Appreciation Lunch with Colleagues @ Vivo City's Sushi Tei

Shown in pictures;
Hanasaki Ika Tempura - Tempura Squids (Crispy outside, soft n tender inside, better if there is beer to go along with it which we did not order since we have to go back to office to work)

Hokkaido Special Collagen with Half-cooked Salmon Sushi Roll (First attempt of such collagen slice, tasteless and with texture like agar agar, but good for the skin! Lol)

Seafood Salad with Sushi Teh's Dressing (Love the freshness of the prawns, octopus and crab sticks)

Hokkaido Special Hot Pot - Shoyu base, pot filled with Hokkaido Crab, Scallop, Salmon, Shiitake & Enoki Mushroom, Cabbage, Carrot and Tofu (First attempt with Hokkaido Crab, crab meat is sweet, but meat is most stick to the shell maybe means not fresh enough)

Salmon Sashimi ♥ ♥ ♥ Freshness!

BBQ Squid stuffed with Japanese rice (not bad, but the rice was not very tasty)

Raw Scallop Sushi topped with Wasabi Mayo (Didn't know that raw scallop is so soft, a bit tasteless though, guess that's why they have the wasabi mayo on top of it)

Strawberry Ice Cream with Rice Balls and Azuki Red Beans (Strawberry Ice Cream taste great, one of the best ones)

Not in pictures;
Bowl of Salmon Roe (Smaller than I thought and not so popping too)

Service was kinda lousy, they certainly they dunno what they are doing sometimes.
