Tom yam - not too shabby OK Mar 27, 2013
Categories : Zi Char

Back here again for the nth time and finally got around to trying their tom yam seafood soup. For a stall that sells cheap food, the amount of ingredients isn't that bad. Their soup's a little too coriander (or is it parsley)-charged... not my cup of tea so I guess asking them to hold off those greens would be good.

If you're coming here for lunch, note that it takes quite a while to get a seat!

Fab desserts at Spathe Smile Mar 27, 2013

Spathe is known for its huge portions fit for large groups, but don't overlook their desserts. I tried their Poached Pear Charlotte Royal and Waffle Mania - both very different in their own way.

The Poached Pear Charlotte Royal is something very unique. It's a light, fruity choice and you can easily change that by drizzling tons of chocolate sauce over it. Yums!

The Waffle Mania is sooo good... I can't stop raving about it! They're too fluffy to be true!!! Better than A&W's - trust me!

I love TMP's cupcakes (particularly the Strawberries & Cream), but I do enjoy their mains every once in a while in addition to their classic sweet treats.

This time round, I had the Truffled Field Mushroom Risotto. You could smell the truffle from a mile away - this dish makes a great choice. Although I have to admit, it gets a little boring after a while... that's probably why you must order dessert as well.

My boyfriend had the pork belly. It was a little overdone in my opinion.. but he thought it was all right.

Not much choices on the menu OK Mar 27, 2013

Came here during lunch and had their set lunch of duck confit pasta. To be honest, even without being restricted by the set lunch menu (where they have fixed items), the menu variety is kinda sad.

Anyway, the duck confit pasta is quite oily - the taste of the oil hits you first, followed by the meatiness. I loved the addition of sundried tomatoes - they're always a plus!

'Meh' food at Brewbaker's OK Mar 27, 2013

Was taking a walk around Sengkang and had my dinner here (as there weren't many choices in the area anyway...)

We ordered the fish & chips to share, as well as the lobster bisque (comes with a side of garlic bread). The fish & chips batter was too much for me... kinda 'gelad'. Fries were okay though. Fish was fresh, can't deny that! As for the soup, it was fine but lacked that little seafood punch. Don't think I will come back here, unless it's for drinks and soccer; there's a huge TV screen outside but then again, not a soccer fan so yup.
