Have lunch at Pepper Lunch Smile Dec 31, 2010

Categories : Japanese | Food Court | Steaks and Grills

I love cooking by myself at Pepper Lunch more than at steamboat restaurants. At Pepper Lunch, I have my own hotplate of food in front of me for me to toss around and drizzle any amount of sauce. Though some of my friends do not like there because of the food and the oil spilling onto them, I love eating there!

For this visit, I ordered one of the most expensive dishes, the Rib Eye Steak. Oh boy! The steak is very soft and chewy and because it is cooked under high heat, it forces out the juice in the meat. Love it with my favourite corn!

As always, an ice-cream to end off the satisfying meal. Just pick green tea, same as me!

What a fine place! Smile Dec 31, 2010

My first time at Lawry's to try their Festive 5-Course Set Dinner at 95++ per person.

The set dinner consists of the following items:

Fresh warm homemade Limpa and Sourdough Bread

Lawry's Famous Original Spinning Bowl Salad: The waitress would perform a spinning routine in front of the customers as she stirred the greens in a bowl surrounded by ice. Sprinkle Seasoned Pepper on it! Delicious!

Seafood Tower: Originally I thought it would look like a tower, but it's scallop, shrimp and seabass drizzled with dill lime sauce. Tangy flavours!

Ham & Pumpkin Chowder: Strong pumpkin taste and smell. Perfect for pumpkin lovers!

Roast Prime Ribs of Beef & Turkey and Roasted Honey Glazed Turkey: Two types of main courses to choose from. The former has both beef and turkey. Personally, I prefer the former dish as I get to eat two kinds of meat and won't get tired of just feasting on turkey alone.

Oven Baked Bread Pudding: Soft and sweet with ice-cream indulgence!

Italian Coffee/Gryphon Artisan Teas served with Praline Chocolate: Choose the tea for a more exquisite experience. The waitress brought a suitcase in front of me and there were around a selection of 10 different tea flavours to choose from! The tea was served in a pot which could fill around 3 cups. I chose the mint flavour and ended up drinking it with the mint chocolates as well. Too minty!

Overall, I find that this was a pleasant fine dining experience, comfy seats, classy decor and attentive servers.

Ice-cream log cake Smile Dec 31, 2010

Love this outlet as it's an open space concept. The seats are very comfortable so it's perfect for indulging in a good read and yummy desserts, especially their signature ice-cream flavours.

For the festive season, how could we miss out on log cakes mania! Haagen Dazs offers two kinds of ice-cream log cakes this year and I ordered the Let's Snow log cake.

This log cake really looks like a winter wonderland, with thin slices of white chocolate all around the sides of the cake. Fresh cream covers up the entire log cake; perfect for a white Christmas! The strawberries become frozen as I had put the cake in the freezer, thus making it a dessert on its own too!

The log cake is actually cookies and cream flavour, rich taste and melts in my mouth! Sadly, I'm restricted to one slice at a time and I can't wait for the next time to sink my teeth into this cake again!

Sakae Sushi launched a new menu this November, introducing several new items.

Ordered the Lobster Salad Tofu ($7.99). It's hard to scoop up the beancurd as it's so wobbly. The silken beancurd, lobster salad topped with mango cubes and shrimp roe taste so smooth and extra points for the goma dressing!

Another of their new dish that could actually be lit up is the Sakae Candle ($6.99)! It's a great alternative for birthday cakes where you can actually blow out the 'candles'. This sushi has avocado, japanese cucumber, crabmeat, shrimp roe and codfish roe, drizzled with spicy mayonnaise, thus making this a hearty and satisfying snack. I also love the Hotate Arare Maki ($8.99) as the slightly charred scallops make this a special dish that is coated with rice crackers. Crunchy!

Back to the basics.. The always filling Deluxe Bento ($17.99). There are so many food items available in appropriate portions so try them all with glee!

Overall, thumbs up for the new creations! Innovative and tasty!!

Zi Char OK Dec 31, 2010
Categories : Zi Char

Hei Zou or prawn paste rolls: A must-order dish everytime I eat zi char. This hei zou is crispy, however the filling is not fragrant and dry. Passable sweet sauce.

The beancurd topped with lots of spring onions and meat was the best dish of all. Kudos to the sauce that goes well with the chewy meat pieces and beancurd.

The fish with onion dish tasted quite bland. Perhaps the chef could have cooked it with more seasoning.

Our veggie dish with egg and century egg looked more like soup than vegetables. The veggies were too soaked but nonetheless, a passable dish.

I love their dumpling soup as well. Plump dumplings in a clear broth!

In conclusion, if I had a choice, I would prefer to go other zi char stalls.
