The restaurant is actually located inside Changi Sailing Club. Nevertheless, we manage to find the place and here we are, the restaurant is easily found when you entered the main entrance of the Changi Sailing Club lobby. The place is indeed a very nice place to relax as you are able to see the beach, the sea and some people having water activities near the coast of the Changi Sailing Club. The restaurant is designed in 2 different parts mainly members and non members and from the non members side where we are, the design is using open air concept so no air conditioning.

There are a few customers having their meals there and I feel that the overall feeling I get is that this is a nice place for a romantic dinner during the evening where you can view the nice sun set and enjoying the sea breeze. They provide quite a variety of dishes which includes Asian, Western, Italian, Indian cuisine and etc.
Lamb Kofta Kebab @ $19.50

Lamb Kofta Kebab @ $19.50

Lamb meat are being diced till bits before making it to look like sausages style which comes with a piece of Indian pan cake. I think for those who do not like the smell of the lamb, keep away from this dish as the smell is stronger than most of the lamb dish that I have eaten so far. Overall taste is ok for this dish except that it would be 2 person to share this dish as it would be too much to eat by one person.
Classic Fish and Chips @ $19.00

Classic Fish and Chips @ $19.00

The look of this dish is very presentable with big piece of Fish battered in nice coat of bead flour (If I am not wrong) and side dish of french fries and salad. The French Fries are thick and nice but the main dish of the Fish is super salty!!! I am not sure if the chef made a mistake or what but I think the salt is like free when putting onto the fish before frying it.
Cajun Chicken @ $17.00

Cajun Chicken @ $17.00

The presentation of the Cajun Chicken is very nice and it make us think that the dish is delicious but after tasting it, it seems that the chef who cooked this dish kind of over-cooked it as the meat is quite tough and dry inside (I expect it to be juicy). It seems the side dish taste better than the main but still better than the fish and chips.

HOT Tomato Cafe & Grill Smile Jan 28, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Steaks and Grills

The staff are very friendly and we got a seat without much waiting (consider lucky for us as I saw people queuing up soon after we got our seats). Environment is very good where tables are not really too close between each other and there are enough walk space for the waiters and waitress to take orders and served their food.
Soup of the Day: Tomato Soup with Garlic Bread

Soup of the Day: Tomato Soup with Garlic Bread

This is one new taste that I have drank so far. There is a bit of tomato sour taste with a little bit of spicy which should be suitable even for kids. From my point of view, this is a healthy type of drinks and you should try it if you like tomato.

Garlic Bread itself is fresh while you can dipped it into the tomato soup to eat together for greater taste fusion.
Lamb Chop

Lamb Chop

If you are a seafood or do not like heavy type of main, this is one dish which is suitable for you.

The Salmon is grilled and added with some mango salsa sauce which added some mango sour / sweet taste. Salmon meat itself is fresh with some spices during the time when they grilled it if I am not wrong.

The added Aglio Olio pasta and fresh salad within the dish added some value for money type of dish. Pasta is not oily and is very nice even when it is cooled where salad is added by their own mixture of sauce (not oil or cream type) which ensure the whole dish is well balanced between each other.
Norwegian Salmon with Mango Salsa

Norwegian Salmon with Mango Salsa

If you are a Lamb meat lover like me, you might like to eat this dish to try it out.

The Lamb meat is grilled together with some spices (Black pepper should be included) which brings out the taste as you chewed the meat. Though I must say the meat is a bit over cooked as those thinner meat needs longer time to chew into my stomach (Might be my teeth cannot take too hard stuff). But consider this is a nice dish with all the spices mixed into it, it sure is one of the dish to try out for.

Supper Time! Smile Jan 28, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Restaurant

The restaurant is located at the outside of the Tiong Bahru Plaza near to Burger King and you should be able to find it using the signboard quite easily.
The seat are spacious and is a good place for gathering and having a supper if you are hungry at night. There are not much crowd when I am at the place so we are able to get a table to seat on and attended by the staff efficiently. (Not sure if it is the same if there are a lot of people during that time.)

Staff are very friendly and the food served are very fast too.
Hot Coconut (With Sago and coconut)

Hot Coconut (With Sago and coconut)

This is a hot dessert where they take out the meat of the coconut, using the coconut itself to hold a hot coconut juice with sago and some meat of the tender coconut.

In term of taste wise, it felt like I am eating cream of coconut where the meat is not very nice as it is cooked (would prefer fresh coconut to this version)

Also, it would feel very sinful to eat this for girls and if you really wanna eat, 2 to 3 person per 1 coconut will do
Butter Pineapple Bo Lo Bun

Butter Pineapple Bo Lo Bun

A slice of can pineapple is being added to the famous HongKong Bo Lo Bao with a small piece of thick butter.

This is a refreshing taste with a pineapple in the bun. Not very sure if the original is with pineapple or without but I prefer one without the pineapple if possible as the pineapple is over-powering the butter taste which I love most in Bo Lo Bao. (wish to put more butter too as this one did not put a lot)

This should be taken first when it is hot as the cold butter with hot bun makes the overall taste better.
Pan Fried Dumplings

Pan Fried Dumplings

As compared to my earlier post on the fried dumplings, this is not as good as the earlier ones but in term of taste wise, they have stronger veg taste and some people might like this dish better due to it.

The fried skin is very crispy which is very nice dish to have for a snack or supper.
Condensed Milk and Peanut Butter Thick Toast

Condensed Milk and Peanut Butter Thick Toast

Thick peanut sauce are being poured on top of a thick toast bread and on top of it, condensed milk are put on to add on the sweetness to this dish.

A nice and tasty dish but also a very sinful one to have for girls (and even guys) and not recommended if you are too heaty as the peanut is very thick.

Kenny Rogers @ Novena Suqare OK Jan 28, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Roasted Meat

Went over to Novena Square for windows shopping and decided to stop at Kenny Rogers for our dinner.
There are not much people eating at this restaurant when I am there so finding seats are very easy but we are not being served efficiently as maybe there are too few staff over there (1 waiter and 1 waitress outside serving only if I am not wrong)

This makes it very slow in taking orders and also very slow in billing.
“Famous Corn Muffin” $1.20 (1 per person)

“Famous Corn Muffin” $1.20 (1 per person)

When you are seated on the table, you are served with their “Famous Corn Muffin” $1.20 (1 per person). I like the top part where taste the best but overall, I feel that it is just normal type of muffin which do not really taste better than the other brands.
Kenny’s Quarters @ $15.90

Kenny’s Quarters @ $15.90

Each of the main course is able to choose 2 regular side dishes and for this dish, “Macaroni & Cheese” and “Honey Baked Beans”

The Chicken is being marinated with strong herbal (Not Chinese type of herbal but those English nice smelling type of herbal) which is very nice on the outside but it is not very juicy on the inside part of the meat or I can say a bit dry.

As for the side dish, Macaroni is those bigger type while the cheese is a bit too strong for my likely (Even though I loves to eat cheese). “Honey Baked Beans” is worst as it seems that it is over-cooked and I feels that it is not very fresh.
Roasters Ribs Platter @ $22.90

Roasters Ribs Platter @ $22.90

Half a slab of honey Bourbon Ribs are being served. Meat is very tender which seems that it have been braised in the sauce for quite sometime. Taste wise, it is too sweet for my likely and maybe I have eaten better ribs at other places.

For the side dishes, “Coleslaw” and “Garlic Parsley Potato”. This is one of the side dish which seems better to eat. Coleslaw have some sourness which can ensure that you do not feel over-powered by the taste of the Ribs while the potato is nicely baked and is also a healthy side dish too.
Roasters Wings @ $13.90

Roasters Wings @ $13.90

6 pieces of Wings are being grilled mixed with the same herbal as the Kenny’s Quarters except that since it is wing part, the herbal taste is much stronger which is nice to act as a snack. One of the main dish which is nicer to eat but not recommended for those big eater as 6 pieces of chicken wings might not be enough for you to be full.

As for side dish, “Mashed Potato & Gravy” and “Corn Niblets”. Do not order the Corn Niblets as it is overly cooked and the corn have turned darker color which I think is not fresh at all. Mashed Potato is still ok but for the gravy, I felt it is tasteless as the wings might be over-power the overall taste bug.

Recommended Dish(es):  Main Dish: Roasters Wings. Side Dish: Coleslaw,Garlic Parsley Potato

Paper Wrapped Chicken (纸包鸡) Smile Jan 19, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop

This restaurant is located near SIM University and Ngee Ann Polytechnic so if you are to take public bus, stop at the bus stop next to Ngee Ann Polytechnic before walking over to the restaurant. Free parking if you are using private car. You will be able to see the signboard of the restaurant at the entrance so it is actually not hard to find it if you open your eyes.

Please be early if you want to eat their famous “Paper Wrapped Chicken” as if you are reaching in the evening, you might not be able to eat it as it is normally sold out by then.

Paper Wrapped Chicken

Paper Wrapped Chicken

This is the famous Paper Wrapped Chicken which up till now (I have eaten quite a few places with paper wrapped chicken dish) no restaurant in Singapore can compare with this restaurant.

Even though the outside looks very oily, the inside is not oily at all, to be more specific, inside is more on the original taste and juicy of their special ingredients. Taste wise, it is very tender and juicy and if one person just saw it meat, nobody will know it have been deep fried before.

Price is the more you ordered, the cheaper it will get from 10 for $12 / 15 @ $15 / 24 @ $24, / 36 @ $35.50 up till 60 @ $58.00
Fried Rice @ $8.00

Fried Rice @ $8.00

Overnight rice are being fried together with some vegetables, eggs, and luncheon meat with some other ingredients which makes the rice very puffy and nice. Great to be taken together with the side dishes.
Mushroom Soup @ $12.00 / $25.00

Mushroom Soup @ $12.00 / $25.00

A few types of mushroom are being boiled together with some chicken legs and some herbal which enhance the overall taste of the soup. For one person who do not really drink soup, this is one soup that I do not mind drinking a second helping. Taste wise, ofcourse there is mushroom taste but you can also taste that little bit of nice chicken soup base.
Butter Prawns @ $28.00

Butter Prawns @ $28.00

The prawns are very fresh and they are mixed with some sea salt while cooking it so actually, it does not really looked like butter prawns which should be more oily type. A nice and interesting dish which I am not able to find it in other places.
Fried Cuttlefish @ $12.00

Fried Cuttlefish @ $12.00

Their fried cuttlefish is very tender unlike those in other places where you need more time to chew and eat the cuttlefish. Added together with their sour sauce, it is just nice to eat as a snack or as a side dish to your rice or noodles
Oyster Sauce Noodles @ $3.00 / $8.00

Oyster Sauce Noodles @ $3.00 / $8.00

There is a bee hoon version of this too. Noodles are fried with oyster sauce and topped with some vegetables but still have that QQ chewing feeling. This is best eaten with the juice from the paper wrapped chicken which makes the overall taste of the noodles to be better.
