Best Value Fishball Noodles Smile Oct 23, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

I supposed, at $2.50 a bowl, coupled with 5 big round fishballs, this stall is the best valued fishball noodles in Singapore (let me know if you can find one that beats this).

The portion is generous.
The queue is long, but very efficient. Take a look at the young chap cooking; while he is thin, his speed of scooping the fishballs and cooking the noodles was fast.

I love how delicious the mee pok is, because their sauce is fabulous.
Fishballs were chewy and Q; they were big too (yes, I've just mentioned it).

Thumbs up!

Jap ramen OK Oct 19, 2013

Came to this super hot coffeeshop with my colleagues.
There was quite a long queue when we came.

I ordered the shoyu ramen at $6.
The price is reasonable, but bear in mind that the ingredients are minimal - the shoyu meat i had was small.
The portion of the ramen was not a lot too - but it was decent enough for me.

The good about this ramen is its soup base, which was really rich.
Other than that, I would think this ramen is pretty average.
You need to addd 50cents for the eggs, which i didnt buy.

Generally a decent meal; probably the cheapest ramen around.

Btw, the boss is a friendly chap, so thumbs up to the service.

Came with my mom Smile Oct 19, 2013

Came here as much as four times, but I'm still hooked onto it.
Brought my mom here, and we shared their signature.
I've always ONLY bought their signature blackball dish, and ALWAYS order the icy version.

The pearls, and taro, tapioca balls were perfect and chewy.
My mom really loves this because it is refreshing on a sunny day.
Add milk if you like, I always do so - I do think it enhance the whole bowl of goodness.

Very generous serving too
LOVE IT!

On a side note, the service is getting bad.
The staff who served me was grumpy.
Her tone was also unfriendly.
When people asked for an extra spoon, she gave an irritated look to that customer.
Overhead them complaining that she "bin chao chao" (black face)

Also, the staff doesn't clear the plates left on the table fast enough. seems like there's a labour crunch?

Second visit Smile Oct 13, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Ramen

Back for a second time, the first was to try the KING ramen
This time, I had the Autumn ramen, and it was just as good.

The free flow of eggs don't need anymore mention - this time I had 2 eggs.
Well, free flow doesn't mean have to keep eating it please - control your intake haha

Anyway, Autumn did not disappoint too.
The weird thing was, I asked for less chicken oil.
But my bf and I felt that my soup had even more chicken oil taste?
Anyway, the noodles i ordered was in normal texture too - it was Q and perfect - and I love it.

The pork char siew on the other hand was a little disappointing.
I didnt finish the whole big slice of char siew because it felt too tough.
I only ate the edges with the fats :X
Well, I love fatty stuffs oops

Anyway, as much as I love the ramen here, it's time to explore their other chains.!
Looking forward to other varieties of ramen they offer

Reasonable food and pricing OK Oct 13, 2013

I went to J8 for dinner and came across this Jap restaurant.
It seems like this restaurant is famous for its handmade udon, but really, it doesn't appeal to me.

That said, my sukiyaki soup was great - maybe because i like it salty haha. The pork meat was decent too. My set comes with sushi, and 3 fried chicken. If I'm not wrong, this set costs $15.90++ (can't remember though).

One minor complaint I had was that the candle's smell lighting the sukiyaki was too pungent. It really smelt kind of toxic and unpleasant as I was eating my meal. But all in all, I enjoyed the course, since it tasted pretty good.
