I have been a frequent customer of Tao's ever since they opened at PoMo, and now they occupy Zero Zero, which has better ambience. Love their starter, the Bacon and Mushroom Gratin, goes very well with bread, but can be quite filling. Had their baked atlantic flounder with cheese - cheese was alright, not overwhelming, and fish was fresh, but not a very impressive dish. Also love their iced fruit teas, very refreshing on a hot day. The grilled mushroom was something new, and I liked it as well, as I like mushrooms a lot.

This is a good place to have a meal or simply order fuss-free takeaway, as they offer a wide variety of dishes. I bought the "gong bao" spice like fish as takeaway - it's called Garlic Dry Fish on their menu, which costs $12; this is one of the more unique fish dishes I have come across, the sauce fragrant with a hint of garlic taste, and goes well with rice. I also got the rice with egg and veg for around $3+.

Rice House is one of the best value for money, and taste wise, one of the best places for vegetarian food. When you are looking for something healthy but still tasty, go for the carrot porridge; topped with mock minced meat, which adds flavour to the porridge, and braised peanuts, which are good to go with porridge as well. Thinly sliced carrots are also added to the porridge. Do try their fried tofu with thai chilli sauce and mushroom noodles.

Table manners is a rather new restaurant in Changi City Point. The selling point is the decor and the somewhat unique mix and match menu. Do go for lunch as it is cheaper compared to dinner. There are a few mains for you to choose from, and I got the salmon which was well done and fresh, along with 2 sides of fries and sauteed mushrooms, which were good complements. Top up a few bucks to get dessert of the day, which was also good.

Promising New Cafe Smile Jun 15, 2013

This is a new cafe within walking distance from Kovan MRT, located just beside Charcoal Thai. I'm glad that I gave it a try. I got the avocado chicken burger as it was recommended - portion wise it's good for 1, I was very full after I finished the burger though - there's cheese, ham, and a thick piece of marinated chicken, with mayo and avocado; the whole combination tasted good, although it's a little too meaty for me, and there were no greens. I loved the caramelized banana earl grey tart - slight earl grey taste and the tart is topped with crunchy pistachio bits - this is made on the spot and not on display. However, at $4.50, the tart is too small, not enough to share.
