It was a good and thrifty outing at Downtown East that day after a few hours of crazy fun of Kinect and KTV at $10 per person. We became hungry and went in search of food.

Different Taste was literally full to the brim but luckily there was one table for the six of us right at the entrance. Nothing to talk about for the interior design (or lack thereof). It is just a very simple family restaurant with many many big round tables of families with elderly and young children.

To continue our thrifty outing, each of us only paid $10 for the food we ordered! Good and value for money! Wonderful!

鱼漂蟹肉羹(中)Fish Maw Crab Meat Broth (Medium)

Thick and not stingy with the ingredients, I definitely recommend this dish! I'm a soup lover! The fish maw is soft and gooey, delicious!

脆皮豆腐(小)Crispy Tofu (Small)

As its name suggests, it's indeed crispy and it's not hard! As I later discovered that there's prawns in the filling, I only ate that one piece.

麦片鸡(小)Cereal Chicken (Small)

I love this dish as well! The cereal is sweet and crispy! The chicken meat is not hard from the deep frying and retains its juiciness!

酸甜鱼片(小)Sweet and Sour Fish (Small)

The balance is important in this dish and it really did not disappoint! Yummy! Not too sweet nor too sour, just nice, add your mouthful with a piece of the cucumber, perfect!!

蚝油小芥蘭(中)Small Kailan in Oyster Sauce (Medium)

Very normal dish done to perfection~ Good!!

I'd totally recommend you this family restaurant if you happen to be at Downtown East!!

My mum and I shared a set of this oyako don and soba. It was presented nicely and it made me feel happy just looking at it. The restaurant had dim lighting and that's very comfortable. The service crew was very friendly too.

The oyako don was very nice! The chicken was still crispy and the egg covering just made it perfect~ The soba was nice with the shaved ice on top. The tsuyu for the soba was not over-the-top salty, it was just nice.

Unagi with sweet Tamago! Nice and fresh!

Shiitake with the really thin omelette wrapping around the sushi rice! Delicious and they were generous with the serving of the shiitake!

Last but not least the premium Unagi nigiri! One of my favourite fishes ryouri is Unagi ryouri~ Really thick, tender and worth the price!!

Pictured above are Banana Chocolate and Double Chocolate ice cream from this famous shop! As they import the milk directly from Hokkaido, the texture is really smooth and creamy!

If "Banana" + "Chocolate" sounds too sweet for you, fret not, because it is not! It's just nice and actually tasted quite light as well! I really love it!

Does my friend's Double Chocolate sound very sweet too? Don't worry, it's also very light and not too sweet, unlike other double chocolate-flavoured ice cream in the country.

If you have the chance, try all their flavours!

What can I say? It's just great to eat food from this stall branching out from the original in Bedok which was under renovations!

Satay was good and not with too much fats. The sauce was good with lotsa peanuts and it wasn't too spicy or too bland!

The chicken wings were really good. They were not burnt; they were juicy and the meat was tender too! Add the lime and it will become much more refreshing!

Oishii Sushi w/o the Queue! Smile May 21, 2013

I went to the T3 branch of Itacho at about 5pm and there was no queue, phew! Itacho is notorious for having very long queues and their reservation system is one that I will never use.

Super nice Asari soup!! The sweetness of the clams and the soup is just wonderful!!

Beef Udon tastes really nice! The beef is tender and thinly sliced, easy to chew and sufficiently packed with the taste of the soup!!

Yummy croquettes! Thin fried skin with fillings tightly stuffed inside! Love~!

Gyoza are good too, but maybe a bit different from others?

Cheese maki and mango! Special and tasty!! Creative ideas can be found in the Itacho menu!

According to my sister and mum, they love the freshness of this salmon sashimi!

My super favourite of all-time, UNAGI!! One of the best I've tasted yet!

So, if you want to skip the queue, go to T3's Itacho during off-peak period. Enjoy creative Japanese cuisine in peace and quiet! ^_^
