Hong Kong Cuisine Smile Jun 23, 2013

Went to this Central Hong Kong Cafe with my family members after shopping at Jurong Point. We ordered several items which includes the tomato pork chop rice, prawn dumpling noodle, sweet sauce chicken and lastly peanut thick toast.

Firstly, the tomato pork chop rice has a nicely cooked pork chop, tender texture and goes well with the tomato sauce. Apart from the pork chop, other ingredients includes egg and tomato.
Next, the sweet sauce chicken is also well presented. The chicken is sufficiently cooked, soft and tender texture. As for the sauce, it is not too sweet and is well seasoned and goes well with the chicken.

As for the prawn dumpling noodle, it come with a simple presentation. The noodle is very well cooked, has a soft and QQ texture. As for the prawn dumplings, it fillings is fresh which consist of a medium sized prawn, sliced mushroom and some mu er. Soup wise is very light and refreshing and is not oily.

Lastly, the peanut thick toast is spread with a thin layer of the crunchy peanut on top of the toast. As for the toast, it has a soft texture with a very slight crisp on the side. However, I think that the thickness of the toast is a bit too thick.
Overall, quite a tasty Hong Kong style food and a affordable price. lol

Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

When the word Laksa is being heard, one would think about the famous penang laksa. But actually what does the real penang laksa really taste like? Coming back to laksa, let try out own country famous katong laksa. This bowl of laksa is garnished with the chopped laksa leaves to enhance the taste of the laksa. As for the gravy wise, it is not too oily, fragrance and shiok. As for the beehoon, it is well cooked with a QQ texutre. The other ingredients in this bowl of laksa includes cockles, prawn and bean sprout which are fresh and well cooked as well. Overall, a thumb up for this bowl of katong laksa.

White carrot cake Smile Jun 19, 2013

Categories : Hawker Centre

Brought a plate of the white carrot cake from this famous stall in bukit timah market. Firstly, the presentation wise is not that good as the carrot cake is not nicely placed. Next as for the taste wise, it is quite tasty due to the addition of the chai pok and other seasoning. With the addition of the chai pok, it adds an additional crunchy texture to the carrot cake. The egg mixture is sufficiently added and mixture thoroughly with the carrot cake.

Nhor-Hiam Smile Jun 19, 2013

Having some craving for nhor-hiam and decided to buy a plate to satisfied my craving. The items that I have chosen includes the crispy prawn cracker, deep fried squid with stuffings, fish cutlet, deep fried tou kuaw and others. The prawn crackers is one of my favourite due to its super crispy texture and don't forgot to dip into the sauce provided. As for the deep fried squid with stuffings, it is quite unique as it is quite rare to see it in other nhor hiam stall. The other items are well deep fried, fresh and not too oily. As for the sauce, peanut bits are added to add a crunchy texture and the consistency is there and is not too watery.

Durian ice kachang Smile Jun 18, 2013

Categories : Food Court | Desserts and Cakes

Having a nice and cold dessert during a hot weather is so shiok and coooling. Ordered a bowl of the durian ice kachang for dessert after lunch. Presentation wise is appealing with different colours and topped with generous amount of the bright yellow colour durian paste. Firstly, the durian paste has a nice durian aroma, smooth texture and sweetness level is a little too sweet. Cubed jelly, sweet corn, red bean and the atap seed are also included in this bowl of ice kachang. Overall, when the ice kachang is mixed together, the sweetness level is still acceptable but I think that the coloured syrup is added a little too much.
