Kway Chap Smile May 27, 2013

Long queue all the time…

I’m a fan of kway chap, especially for breakfast. It’s not too heavy, not too light, and hot food so I like. The kway is soft and the soup looks clean and appetising! (sometimes some soups look so ‘dirty’ like there’s so many undissolved ingredients floating around… you get what I mean)

I love the salty vegetables cos it’s not too salty. The meat’s very soft too! Thumbs up!

The ramen is good! Very flavourful and portion's quite big. You can add $3 to $5 for a set meal that comes with salad, side dish and drink, which I thought was quite worth it.

Price of ramen around $12 to $15 per bowl.

Pretty crowded so might need to wait for seats. Staff generally very friendly and helpful.

They currently offer porridge buffet, and the dishes mirror home cooked ones in my opinion.

Just spam the chicken wings and drumsticks. Hot, crispy, tasty. Spam only! It’s the only dish that always got wiped out fast. Looks like most customers like me don’t really like all the other available dishes…. well they’re kinda cheap ingredients too so I thought it’s not worth for a “buffet”. I mean, it’s not like we get to spam eat sashimi and feel that’s more worth the $$$$$$$$$$$ and buffet feel. So clearly, everyone was so intelligent and just aimed for the chicken wings and drumsticks!

Somehow they offer nasi lemak and mee siam too. So you can have porridge, nasi lemak and mee siam all tgt! Suitable for those who really don’t know what they wanna eat and eat a bit of whatever’s available here and there.

The overall feel I got was a bit of a disorganised buffet. Maybe I was looking for a wider range and better quality of food, not the typical home cooked ones. Still, it’s a new place and maybe they’re just trying out what best combi to serve. Hopefully if I were to return I’ll get to see an improved buffet!

Super duper cheap $2.50 ONLY…….. big bowl with lots of ingredients that gets you craving for more. Best Laksa I tasted in Yishun area. Longggggggggg queue but soooo worth it lah~ *slurps*

A few fish cakes, lots of hum, half of a hard boiled egg, tau poks and lots of tasty soup! So cheap!

Ambience wise – no air-con so you might be sweating after a piping hot and spicy bowl of laksa. No worries though, take aways only cost $0.20 more and they would pack the soup in a plastic bag and the noodles in a container.

Set D – Cheese Toast! (MY FAVOURITE!)

I love to drink eggs and enjoy crispy bread with cheese and kaya to start my day. Filling and easy to eat!

Dunno how they make the bread until so crispy like biscuit texture but not biscuit……..

MEHHHH…. yummy!
