Breakfast Choice OK Aug 19, 2013

You straightaway know what you must try when you are here. The white coffee for sure! For those who do not that coffee, there are other drinks available for you to choose from. The nasi rendang here is famous too but we did not want to have such heavy meal in the morning so decided to go for the lighter version. We ordered the breakfast set which comes with a drink.

Kaya Toast + Boiled Eggs Set($5.50++) - the usual breakfast set that I will be ordering. The toast were good and so as the coffee.

Char Siew Noodles Set($8.50++) - pass for the noodles and failed for the char siew. The reason why the char siew failed because it tasted too porky which I don't like it. My friend who is not that particular as me feel the char siew is quite good, better than some other place.

Coffee time again while walking along Toa Payoh, we were looking for a place to sit down and chit chat. Then we remember there is coffee bean and recently they had the green tea latte. So I would like to try out.

Ice Green Tea Latte Regular($7.70) - Tasted average but not the one I would like. I think I prefer its normal coffees.

Ice Green Tea Latte Regular($7.70), Matcha Latte Regular($6.30) - Tasted average but not the one I would like. I think I prefer its normal coffees.

Black Bean Grilled Fish Smile Aug 19, 2013

Black Bean Version

Black Bean Version

This is steamboat place where you can find most of the people dine in having steamboat. We there not for the steamboat but the grilled fish. We ordered Black Bean Grilled Fish($34.90++) although the famous one will be Sichuan Spicy麻辣(super spicy) one but I decided not to try that as I am getting sensitive to my skin again. They have 5 different types of grilled fish and all having the same price. The grilled fish and the gravy(soup) tasted quite good for me but please drink a lot of water after having it. This is good for sharing even with 4 people if you have rice to go with. Just one thing we are not get used to it is the oil floating on top of the soup, I actually removed that oil before I ate, some people might feel that is the good stuff. I actually removed 1.5 rice bowls' oil away.

Nice Thai & Indo food Smile Aug 19, 2013

This is newly open at Novena Square after their renovation. Bali Thai serves quite good food and I can choose between Indonesian and Thai. I tried their XO fried noodles before but feel like not nice at other branch so I told my friend not to order that.

We got green curry, phad thai with fish fillet and long beans. The curry is so good and phad thai is nice. I am quite disappointed with the long bean as I feel the overall ingredients like doesn't mixed together that affected the taste.

Not Bad High Tea Smile Aug 01, 2013
Categories : Café | Seafood | Burgers and Sandwiches

I saw the cheap deal on deal.com.sg on the high tea buffet at only $9.90 with numerous selections of petite cakes, desserts and ice cream. I was attracted by the selection of petite cakes listed, so I asked 2 friends along.

The Food Dot located at Little India area. It is just less than 5 mins walk from Little India station. It is new as I do remember that whole stretch of restaurant is Indian restaurant. Food Dot just right the middle. It is a cafe and baking studio concept. There are 2 areas, front is to serve the customers with drink and pastries, back is the full set of kitchen where all the pastries are prepared and regularly cooking/baking classes hold there. I like the cafe settings, it is like a mini grocery shop, it sells the utensil for baking and cooking.

Start from top left is Tomato Apple Muffin - tomato with cake sounds a bit weird for me, apparently tastes very good. It is one of my favorite selection, top right is Mango Buttercake - tasted normal. Bottom left is Cheesecake - small cheesecake on biscuit with some cherry sauce. I like cheesecake very much but this has less cheese taste, so not my cup of tea and in fact, all of us feel this is not nice. Bottom right is Chocolate cake with ganache - my another favorite petite cake with rich chocolate.

For the price I paid, I felt it is worth to try.

Left is the Cherry Pie cake - tasted quite good and my friends B love this. Right is the chocolate tart - we all feel not nice, it could be the chocolate is too hard.
