Supreme pork indeed Smile Aug 06, 2014
Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Coffeeshop | Rice

This is a basement place that sells pork cutlet, tonic soup, ban mian and drinks. The pork cutlet there is famous, has been published on newspaper for a few times. Indeed the pork is supreme, especially the fried one. Other than the pork cutlet, they have pork chop, chicken cutlet, chicken chop and fish fillet. You can choose to have the rice or the noodles, just match with the pork, chicken or fish. The plain rice is 4 bucks. The fried rice comes with egg and it cost S$4.50 only.

There is usually a queue during lunch hours but the service is not bad. Today I had the chicken cutlet noodles. The cutlet is well fried. Usually fried pork will be dry but this one preserves the juice of the pork. When fried, it is not too hard and is tasty.
What is so special is the noodles. It is different in texture, not those made of flour like ban mian. In fact, it is quite smooth and soft. I do not really know how to describe it but I have never seen or tried this noodle anywhere else before, not even in supermarket.

This is a must - try! Really affordable at S$4 only. Nowadays when the stall gets popular, the price usually will increase and the quality of food will drop. However, for the past 3 years, this stall has never jack up their price and still taste as good. Totally worth it!

Hello Kitty Fruit Cake Smile Aug 05, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean | Bakery

Ordered this Hello Kitty fruit cake from Naomi in the morning and they are able to produce by the end of the day at 6pm. We ordered a 1kg cake that cost S$65.

The Hello Kitty is made of cream and icing sugar with the whiskers and eyes in chocolate. Looks very delicate and pretty. Not only that, it taste good as well! It is a fruit sponge cake. The fruits inside are fresh which is mainly the essence to make it so yummy! The cream on the outside will not make you feel scared when you eat more of it.

Overall, I will go back and order more cakes from them in future. Slightly more pricey than normal cake shops outside it judging that this is a customised cake shop, it is ok to pay for that price for occasions. The effort and skill in making the Kitty is commendable.

Cheap nasi Smile Aug 16, 2014

Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

Located just opposite bugis street, Albert centre has many delicacies. One of them is the nasi lemak at the second row corner. It always has a queue but is relatively fast.

I love nasi lemak! I usually order set 2. The rice is fragrant, chicken wing is crispy and tasty, the egg is running, peanuts and ikan billis is crunchy and well-fried. Most importantly, it only cost S$2.50. Super worth it! Sometimes, I will even have craving for this. I have a friend from Hong Kong who fell for nasi lemak because of this. There are other sets available and you can choose ala carte as well. They also have beehoon and noodles.

blackball Smile Aug 16, 2014

Categories : Taiwanese | Chinese Desserts | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Blackball is a Taiwan dessert eatery place. The best is the blackball signature. There is a choice of temperature, hot, warm, cold or icy. I prefer the warm one as the cold one is like ice kacang. The warm one is served with milk and inside there are all types of balls. Like yam balls, pumpkin balls, pearls, green tea, red bean etc topped with grass jelly. It is delicious. If you like milk tea, this sweet dish is a must try. The cold one will get diluted when the ice melt and it will muster the taste of the dessert.

Mama Miam Smile Aug 09, 2014
Categories : French | Japanese | Fusion

Miam miam, a Japanese fusion restaurant, similar to Shokudo. They have salads, breads, pasta, rice and desserts.

Been to the outlet at bugis junction for a few times and the food there is awesome. I would like to recommend the miam miam spagetti. It is stir fried with olive oil and onions, topped with an egg. Something different from the normal creamy or tomato based spagetti, nor is it the same as aglio olio. The egg on top is runny and very tempting. I'm always a fan of half boiled egg. Their standard of the runny egg is always consistently and never disappointing. Blending in the egg to the spagetti, it makes the spagetti not so dry and have a mild taste of the lingering egg yolk taste.
Another pasta I tried is the carbonara. Since it is a common pasta dish, I purposely ordered it to try their standard and taste of it. Indeed, it did not fail my expectation. The creamy sauce is tasty and not too much milk such that we get tired of the taste at the end of the meal. This is served with a runny egg yolk as well, and sausages. Both pastas are well - cooked, not too hard for my liking.

Last but not least, the dessert is not bad, their souffle etc. Everyone there has to order their famous french toast. The toast is sinfully topped with cream and maple syrup. However, because of these 2 ingredients, the well - toasted french bread is heavenly. Taste like pancakes it better. Definitely a must-try there!

Mains are less than 20 bucks, like normal restaurant rates though dessert is a bit pricey, 10+bucks. Service of the staff is not bad. But ice water has to be paid.

Overall, the experience is good.
