HK food @ Wang Cafe OK Sep 21, 2013
Categories : Café

My group of friends had initially wanted to head to Tim Ho Wan on a Friday night but the queue was unbelievable. Hence, we decided to eat at Wang Cafe where the queue was more decent during Friday's dinner time. Wang Cafe is another one of those hong kong cafes that have bloomed in Singapore. Most of my friends ordered their pork cutlet noodles while I wanted to try something else so I got the sambal fried rice smile And we got a few sides along as well.

Not bad for a cafe that is of affordable pricing. However do note their dishes are rather salty. Will go back there again if I really want a shorter queue and less pressure on my wallet tongue

Recommended Dish(es):  Pork cutlet noodle

Spending per head: Approximately $15(Dinner)

Canto Dining @ 黑社会 Smile Sep 21, 2013

黑社会 is a Chinese restaurant that specializes in Cantonese food. It was my first time dining there and definitely not my last smile We ordered fried noodles and frog leg porridge as our mains to share (I love frog leg porridge) and 2 other sides - xiao long bao and the spicy chicken; and custard bun for dessert!

Overall, I felt that the fried noodles were mediocre, and so is the frog leg porridge (its the boiled type not spicy so maybe that's why it isn't that flavourful). Xiao long bao was not bad. It's spicy chicken was really good and I love the custard bun!!! lol A rather expensive place to go just for the custard bun, so maybe one day I will try Swee Choon as well ;)

Crêpes @ Crêperie des Arts Cry Sep 21, 2013

Categories : French | Restaurant | Desserts and Cakes

We wanted to find a place somewhere along prinsep street to chill and have supper so we decided to try Crêperie des Arts since Strictly Pancakes next door was full. We ordered a Nutella Crêpe and was quite disappointed. It was mediocre and lacks much flavour and crisp. And the whipped cream was kind of gross as it looks rather diluted. Our pint of beer was good though. The complimentary chicken wings that came along with the beer was disastrous. It was so salty! Probably the best thing in the restaurant was the efficient service they had (and the cute little velvet heart on our whipped cream).

Family Day @ Kim Gary Smile Sep 21, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Restaurant

My family decided to dine out for lunch and we went to try Kim Gary, which is a hong kong inspired restaurant that sells affordable food.
I didn't know what to order, so I chose their Korean spicy noodles. A very hearty meal indeed with the large variety of ingredients with the noodles. And it comes with 2 free dumplings lol

My sis chose the fish with rice which she says was really delicious. Extremely tender fish *thumbs up*!

My aunt chose fried noodles which tasted very ordinary and dry. Not very appetizing huh sad

Dish of the day!!! Blask Pepper Steak with spaghetti! My dad absolutely loves this! Tender and juicy beef that goes well with the spaghetti. The black pepper is a bit spicy though.

Would recommend this place for family dining if you are looking for affordable hong kong food, but do note not all dishes are that tasty smile

Recommended Dish(es):  Black Pepper Steak with spaghetti

Laksa @ 328 Katong Laksa Smile Sep 21, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Noodles

Remember Singapore's very own hawker heroes? Where our local hawkers and Gordon Ramsay had a face-off? Well, I decided to take a visit to 328 Katong Laksa (which was one of the contestants who won) to see if their Laksa had improved since I had last visited it 6 years ago.

We ordered 2 bowls of their laksa and some otah to go along with it. I must say, the laksa has improved over the years! 6 years ago, I remembered my bowl of laksa to be extremely powdery but now the gravy is not only less powdery but it also tastes pretty awesome lol

But because of their popularity from the hawker heroes challenge, the queue at 328 Katong Laksa do get considerably long sometimes. So if you don't mind dining outside with the heat then do go there to try their laksa!

Recommended Dish(es):  Laksa
