Canto Dining @ 黑社会 Smile Sep 21, 2013

黑社会 is a Chinese restaurant that specializes in Cantonese food. It was my first time dining there and definitely not my last smile We ordered fried noodles and frog leg porridge as our mains to share (I love frog leg porridge) and 2 other sides - xiao long bao and the spicy chicken; and custard bun for dessert!

Overall, I felt that the fried noodles were mediocre, and so is the frog leg porridge (its the boiled type not spicy so maybe that's why it isn't that flavourful). Xiao long bao was not bad. It's spicy chicken was really good and I love the custard bun!!! lol A rather expensive place to go just for the custard bun, so maybe one day I will try Swee Choon as well ;)

Set Meal @ Yomenya Goemon Smile Sep 20, 2013

I found these pictures of the food I taken at Yomenya Goemon some time back, before I started writing food reviews. Even though this isn't my latest meal of the day, I hope to share with everyone about the food here at Yomenya Goemon. With a similar concept as Waraku of having Japanese-Italian fushion dishes, most of its dishes consists of 50% Japanese-style spaghetti and 50% authentic Italian.

I ordered a "half-half" set meal C - Carbonara with Yolk & Bacon & seafood pasta (I think it was named something similar) that comes with a small bowl of soup and green tea. It was extremely filling!!! I had initially thought that the portions would be small since it is half-half but when it was served, it felt like 2 main dishes. Super full!

But, because I am a dessert fanatic, I had to try their dessert and ordered a souffle cheesecake lol Extremely delicious and highly recommended to try!!!

Overall the place is quite fantastic with affordable food, and I will in a few weeks' time go back there again smile

Rich Food @ PS Cafe Smile Sep 20, 2013

After hearing from one of my friends who went to PS Cafe and the good reviews she had of the place, my boyfriend and I decided to try it too at the Palais Renaissance outlet. Tucked away in a quiet corner, Palais Renaissance has both indoor and "outdoor" seating. We tried the Wild Mushroom Wellington and their Lasagna. With a pastry exterior, the Wellington was not bad if you like the unique taste of wild mushrooms. The Lasagna was really good, with meatballs in between. For the price that we were paying, it was rather worthwhile - quality worth the price smile

All things German @ Brotzeit Smile Sep 19, 2013

Categories : German | Bars/Lounges

I've been wanting to go to Brotzeit for a long time now, after travelling to Germany and tasting their pork knuckles there, I was curious if Brotzeit was up to par. We ordered a pork knuckle dish (Cripsy hind shank of grain fed pork served with potato salad, sauerkraut and homemade sauce on the side) and a grilled pork sausage dish (Pork bratwurst sausages with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut). Brotzeit's pork knuckle is while stocks last, meaning for any lunch or dinner there is limited portions of this dish. I must say, both are really really delicious - especially its pork knuckle!!

For 2 people sharing these 2 dishes, it was extremely filling. Even though its pork knuckle is different from the ones I had back in Germany (those were the softer kind), it was still a good dish to have. One thing though, I didn't really like the sauerkraut after taking more than 5 mouthfuls of it, as it's sourness became quite overpowering (or maybe I was too full tongue ) Highly recommended to go try!

Recommended Dish(es):  Pork Knuckle

Spending per head: Approximately $35(Dinner)

Favourites @ Pepper Lunch Smile Sep 23, 2013

Categories : American | Japanese | Restaurant | Pasta | Steaks and Grills

When I was working near Somerset 313 and was feeling down and exhausted with my never ending pile of work (especially on a Monday with monday blues), I would drop by Food Republic for my favourite Pepper Lunch for lunch. My regular order would be the curry chicken pepper lunch (with cheese) as I like my food spicy. The reason why I love the food at Pepper Lunch is because everything sizzles on the plate! With bite-size chicken pieces that gets cooked on the hot plate, piping hot rice with bits of seasame and curry powder on it and the melted cheese all over, it just warms your heart and makes you feel happy all over again. You can even add $1 for an extra egg to your meal! One of my favourite places! lol
