Grandma's is one my favourite restaurants, as far as local cuisine is concerned.
This time, sampled a variety of dishes and all were simply superb!
The Prawn Fritters- the appetiser - were crunchy and juicy
Grandma's Signature Fried Rice went really well with the Mixed Vegetables and Fried Wanton. The Nasi Lemak and Prawn Sambal was the winning combination.
The shredded onion pieces in the dish added to the flavour.
Of course, the best way to end is with the ever popular Chendol!
With Grandma's, there is no goodbye, just a temporary bye, till we meet again!

Had not been to Thai Express for quite some time, and this time, it was good, as always.
As an Orange Card member, one can get many perks and dining rebates.
They have a new range of dining ware and glasses - it HAS been a long time!
The dishes were delicious, as usual - especially the signature crab!
The soft-shelled crab is always my favourite.
The prawn n egg omelette was an interesting change from the norm and the
Fried Kway Teow and Vegetables did not disappoint. The mushrooms always add to the taste of the vegetable dishes, Decided to be a little ambitious and try the dessert - it was too sweet for me, though. The dessert is okay once in blue moon, but not on a regular basis.
Look forward to going back again!!!

Another Day by the Bay! OK Jan 30, 2012

Categories : Fusion | Seafood

Have been here many times, but this visit was not memorable.
The standard seemed to have dropped a little and the taste was not as good as before.
The Fried Kway Teow was a little oily and not as tasty as what I had tasted before.
The Spicy Chicken Wings were the saving grace for the day.
The service was good, as always!

Hong Kong Cusine by the street Cry Jan 30, 2012

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Restaurant | Desserts and Cakes | Noodles

The name of the restaurant is perhaps meant to recreate the experience of dining at a street side stall in Hong Kong, but that just doesn't materialise inside a crowded, noisy and busy shopping mall.
The restaurant has quite a disorganised seating arrangement, which leaves more to be desired. You feel a little too close to the next table for comfort
The menu has a never ending variety of noodles but the staff are unable to explain anything clearly, given their lack of understanding of the English language.
We had to wait for the supervisor, who was supposedly able to clarify the terms.
All that took a lot of time, but the food came fast, though.
The Instant Noodles looked good as a package, with its huge ladle-like spoon and all.
However, tastewise, it was just okay.
Similarly, the Vegetarian Fried Noodles was a huge letdown - too dry and hardly any vegetables at all, as well as mock meat!
Perhaps, onlt he vegatables were passable.
The drinks were normal but what really spoilt our whole dining expeience was this staff member staff standing at the entrance, screaming something like, "Hi, welcome to Streats!" to every single shopper who walked past.
Of course, it is important to invite new customers, but not at the expense of the comfort of the dining customers.
Another trip Well, I dont think so sad

Bali and Thailand at Serangoon Smile Jan 30, 2012

Having been to the branch at Suntec, we decided to give this branch a try as well.
The food was delicious, as always, but the ambience was not as cozy as the one at Suntec.
However, the service was equally good over here.
While awaiting our food, the usual appetiser arrived - crackers. The crunchy crackers, with their sourish taste, were really addictive.
We tried the Seafood Fried Rice, Chicken with Cashew Nuts, Mixed Vegetables and Tahu Telor.
The rice was absolutely flavourful and the chicken was equally enticing.
The cashew nuts added the extra zet to the dish.
The mixed vegetables were good, and cooked just right.
The Tahu Telor was addictive, it's always something I can never get enough of.
The restaurant truly lives up to its Fusion cuisine...and I will be back for more, despite the steep prices.
