Decent Jap Food Smile Dec 31, 2013

I first heard about Sumo House from a friend and I see that it is quite a popular joint for its wallet-friendly prices and decent food. So one day i asked my friend to bring me there to see what the hype is about. I ordered the Nabeyaki Udon which is actually udon noodles served in a pot. Pretty cool considering this is my first time eating this dish. Pleasantly surprised and i like the broth. The udon noodles is also cooked the way i like it, and i didn't get tired of eating it.

Will bring my friends there after school for some decent Jap food!

Hong Kong Food Smile Dec 31, 2013

If you are looking for a taste of Hong Kong, Streats Cafe is a good place to start out. Streats Hong Kong Cafe promises to deliver in terms of their food and ambience. Of course, the restaurant also serves Western cuisines to meet the taste buds of a wider customer base.

Anyway I was there with my friend and we ordered quite a number of items. For a mixture of fried and more soupy stuff, we ordered the Fried Coriander Wings, Shrimp Dumpling Noodle Soup and Yang Zhou Fried Rice. I am not for the soupy stuff so i did not try the shrimp dumpling noodle soup much. The Fried Coriander Wings is wonderfully fried and crispy. Love it though it did involve me using my hands to eat. The same goes for the Yang Zhou Fried Rice which came with quite a number of ingredients, compared to other restaurants that literally serves fried rice with eggs.

Not too bad and i would definitely return for more!

Fried Char Kway Teow Smile Dec 30, 2013   (Related Review)

Decided to try the char kway teow from this stall for dinner. The char kway teow was quite oily but it was nicely fried and very fragrant. I like the bean sprouts added in the noodles because it adds crunch to the otherwise dull noodles. The portion was quite big given that is only cost $3-4. I ended up sharing it with my sibling because I couldn’t finish it by myself. tongue

Nasi Briyani OK Dec 29, 2013
Categories : Indian | Hawker Centre | Halal

Singapore boosts a wide variety of cuisine, and one of my favourite food is Nasi Briyani. I happened to buy one packet and the portion is big! I had to share it with my sister or I wouldn’t have been able to finish this by myself.

The nasi briyani came with a big piece of chicken and it is very tender and succulent. It is easy to peel the meat off from the bones. However there is nothing special about the rice though it tastes not bad, having been seasoned with other spices. But it does not contain anything special that differentiates it from the other nasi briyani stalls. I also got a packet of curry. Sad to say the curry was a bit watery and I had preferred if it was a little bit thicker.

Economical Noodles OK Dec 29, 2013
Categories : Hawker Centre

My dad always buy breakfast at Boon Lay Market and today he bought the economical bee hoon mixed with the instant noodles. The noodles are a little dry, same for the other ingredients without any “wow” factor. The egg, seaweed chicken and nugget also look like it has been cooked for quite some time. Still the stall serves up affordable meals and so a little bit of quality has to be compromised. It still tastes reasonably good except for the dry factor and so it is acceptable to me.
