Another birthday gathering! OK Dec 07, 2012

I ordered the crispy fried fish dish with onion rings and cheese macaroni as sides and it was at a whooping $8.50 only. Astons is a place where you are able to get good food at a decent amount of money, however, this outlet disappoints me. The fried fish was rather small compared to another outlet at Jurong East that I went last time, and the cheese macaroni wasnt tasty as well, after a few mouthful, I started getting sick of it. Apart from the fish size, it was good, crispy as promised and the fish was tender.
The service there was so-so, we had overturn a cup of iced water, but the server remains poker-faced. I wonder she is upset or just ignoring it.

I ordered the spicy cha-shu ramen at $10, i did not buy their set meal which you just have to add another $3.90 for a drink and a side. The ramen as okay, slightly bouncy when chewed. The soup base was spicy as expected but it was a tad salty, it could be due to too much of MSG added. The cha-shu was cooked just nice, i wouldnt it was exceptionally nice but was passable. Other than the cha-shu, other ingredients were normal but i would say it was a pleasing meal. The server who attended to us was really nice and cheerful even though we gave her a lot of troubles.

This udon dish was so-so but using of udon to replace the usual yellow noodles is rather special, there are bits and pieces of pork lard among the noodles but the whole dish could be more flavourful.

This chao ta bee hoon was quite disappointing but it lived up to its name of just chao ta. It was dry and the prawns that were put in were hard and not very fresh. I would give a thumbs-down for this dish.

This pork ribs were the best among all the dishes. The pork was not too tough and the sauce that accompanied was rather special, it was sweet yet slightly bitter and the taste lingered a while in the mouth before disappearing. This is dish a must-try when you go to Shi Wei Tian.

This tofu with fried enoki was rather okay, the tofu was very smooth and fresh but the fried enoki had me sick of it after the second bite.

This fried pumpkin was so-so as well, the batter was too much and the salted egg taste totally covered the pumpkin flavour. Also, the pumpkin was not very sweet as well and i had a hard time trying to taste the pumpkin in it. Accordingly to the restaurant representative, a maximum of two pumpkin pieces should be eaten per person (if not you will really get sick of it).

This fish dish was below average. Firstly, the fish was over fried as it was not crispy and I had a hard time trying to cut the fish with the spoon provided. Secondly, the cai pok that was on the fish was hard and not juicy as well. So....i'm sad

This soup dish was fragrant when hot, but salty when cold. As the chicken skin was put into the soup and cooked together, there were quite a significant amount of oil in the soup. The chicken was okay but slightly overcooked.

Lastly, the salted egg crab! I had only a small portion of it, but according to my friend who ate a bigger portion, she said that the meat was slightly little for such a big crab. However, the salted egg sauce was yummy! tongue This dish came with a plate of fried buns which were nicely fried and did not have the oil smell, and if you dip the bun with the salted egg sauce, you will go woooooooooooo....................

This fish soup ee-mian cost $3 at the zi char stall at golden spoon eating house. The serving was enough for one person, the soup was slightly starchy but tasted good. The fish pieces given was slightly less and there was an egg added as well. The egg was cracked in and it was half-cooked, i did not mix the egg together with the noodles as I prefer to eat it whole. The noodles were cooked just nice, thus this dish is definitely worth the price.

Dinner! OK Oct 28, 2012

I went back to yomenya goemon for dinner with friends again but this time i ordered a half and half set which cost $20.90 and it came with a soup and apple juice. This dish tasted yummy and the seafood that accompanied was quite fresh, however, i did not taste any seaweed taste in the sauce.

The dish had some kimchi in it, it tasted slightly spicy but not as tasty and the other dish. The spaghetti was slightly dry but it's thick sauce helps to smoothen it out a bit.
