1 for 1 promo at TCC Smile Dec 06, 2014

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant

There was a one for one promotion a few months ago. The prawns in the seafood aglio olio was fresh and goes well with the pasta. Soft-shell Crab with Black Pepper Pasta, the black pepper sauce was alright. The baked rice took more than 30 minutes to arrive and it turns out they forgotten our order. We also ordered two slices of cakes and azuki green tea latte.

Overall, I didn't really like the revamp of their menu, tcc took out some of my favourite dishes including the mini crayfish wasabi pasta.

Dim Sum dinner Smile Dec 05, 2014

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop | Dim Sum

Wen dao shi or 126 have been one of the hot spot for supper hops. I went there for dinner on a weekday night and the place was quite packed. They have 2 type of char siew pau and depending on whether you like which type, it is sold by per piece. Both types are delicious and the char siew inside is really nice.

We tried some of the fried items which included the fried beancurd roll which was crispy and the filling inside was just right. We also had the usual dim sum which was also quite nice. The porridge was very smooth and the portion was not very big so you can have the space to eat other dim sums. The chilli crab sauce with fried mantou tasted nice.

Overall, the price and taste of the food is good and I would definately go back for dim sum.

Yan Ting Dim Sum OK Nov 25, 2014

Saw Yan Ting in the list of Dim Sum places to go in Singapore and have been wanting to try. Their brunch buffet cost $98++ per pax which was not worth it for some of the small eaters in the family so we decided to order a la carte instead.

To be honest, I would feel that the overall food quality is not as nice as Crystal Jade at Takashimaya. The truffle siew mai was good and had a good blend of flavours. The liu sha bao was consistent and the liu sha had the right proportion but the bao was too moist. The chee cheong funs were nice. We ordered peking duck but the wrap was too thick and it was a mouthful of the wrap instead of the flavour of the duck skin.

The restaurant, being at st regis felt really posh and the service was good. Do sign up for the spg membership for free and get the 15% off your bill straightaway. If you frequent or want to frequent Yan Ting or other restaurants, you can consider the St Regis Supperclub which have a membership fee but enjoy 25% off your bill at any restaurants in St Regis.

Dinner at Symmetry Smile Nov 23, 2014

Categories : Australian / New Zealand | Bars/Lounges | Brunch

Went cafe hopping with friends on a cloudy saturday. We thought summetry served all day breakfast and went there in the evening. When we got seated and looked at the menu we were surprise that they serve brunch until 3. Should have done more homework before going.

So we ordered their calamari with squid ink sauce, salmon with risotto and pork belly.  The pork belly was tender and the proportion of fats and meat was good. The calamari was a little too oily for my taste. The risotto was not the creamy kind and tasted nice. We really enjoyed the food but the price is a little steep.

The service was good and the place was full house so reservation is needed. I would go back and try their brunch next time.

Colourful XLB Smile Dec 31, 2013

Categories : Shanghainese | Restaurant | Dim Sum | Noodles

Went to try the famous colourful Xiao long bao of paradise dynasty with my friends the other day. The 8 flavours are original, crab roe, garlic, cheese, truffle, ginger, foie gra, si chuan spicy. All had good flavouring and the soup inside the XLB was really delicious. I also try the dessert gui hua niang wa zi. I didn't really like it as it felt like a porridge than a dessert as it was made up of rice and the glutinous riceballs in a wine base soup.
