Brek O Day OK Aug 15, 2012
Categories : American

Whenever I'm at Coffee Bean studying or reading, I am always tempted by their breakfast and lunch menu. They looked and sound good smile
Finally the chance came and I went there to have brunch with my mum. I wanted to try the smoked salmon bagel badly but apparently the branch at westmall didn't has this in their menu. Whereas, the branch in Holland V has it. I ordered Brek O day instead and it consisted of toasted bread, lettuce salad, sauages and scrambled eggs.

The scrambled eggs were a huge disappoint, they were literally tasteless and I had to put lots of pepper. The pepper they provided weren't even black pepper. sad In addition, I felt that the scrambled eggs had a texture like pudding. This weren't the scrambled eggs I like. I prefer the scrambled eggs from mcdonald's. The rest of the components were average nothing much to give a big hoo-ha.

However, the egg club sandwich was a delicious! Do give it a try smile

Grilled Salmon Steak  OK Aug 10, 2012
Categories : American | Steaks and Grills

Went to Jack's Place for the first time in my life. Heard from my parents that Jack's Place had been around for as long as Pizza Hut and was quite popular in the past. I went there in the evening and the restaurant was quite empty for it was slightly earlier than the usual dinner time. We were seated at an uncomfortable seat and asked to shift to another seat since the restaurant was quite empty.

I ordred a grilled salmon steak and it was served with a baked potato. The grill salmon was little overcook as it tasted a little dry. It was different from the salmon which I had in mind. I was a little disappointed with the salmon, it wasn't the salmon which I wanted. However, I like the baked potato served with bacon bits. This was my first time seeing a whole baked potato with the skin on served on plate. The saltiness of bacon bits goes well together with the bland potato.
The pizza I had was a little disappointing too. I felt that the crust was instant crust instead of handmade crust, the toppings were very tomato-ish. All I can taste is tomatoes. My dad and brother tried the beef. I had a mouthful of the beef they tasted fine. Maybe Jack's Place steaks are really the good stuff. But I wouldn't want to return to Jack's Place again for I'm not a beef lover.

Spinach Mushroom quiche OK Aug 09, 2012
Categories : American | Coffee

I was studying in Starbucks in the afternoon until my stomach became to growl and it called for some food.
I ordered this spinach and mushroom quiche and shared it with my friend. The pastry of the quiche was just nice, not too thick and dry. However, the fillings of the quiche was too little. There were hardly any spinach inside the quiche. It also lacked some strong cheese flavour. I would like it to be more flavoursome.

Red Velvet Cake  OK Aug 09, 2012
Categories : American

I was craving for red velvet cake and coffee bean was one of the more convenient places where I can get red velvet cake. It was a saturday morning and coffee bean was quite crowded. I had to stand around and wait for a while before I can get a seat. I was starving and ordered my red velvet cake asap!
The red velvet cake was rich and dense however, I felt that the chocolate flavour should be stronger. The cream cheese was the best of the cake. Almost covered the flaws of the chocolate cake. I intended to stay there to study but was told to leave because they were busy. So, Coffee Bean at Holland isn't a good place to study after filling the tummy because they were just too busy.

Chili's Smile Aug 09, 2012

Categories : American | Restaurant | Steaks and Grills

I was pass by this restaurant without giving it a second glance because I felt that I wouldn't know how to apprehend and appreciate the food there until one day my friend suggested going there for dinner.

When we reached there it was still fairly empty as it was slightly earlier than dinner time, but when we left it was almost full house. This meant that chili's was actually quite popular and I was a fool not to appreciate it because the food was just plain awesome! lol

When we went in, we were a given a high table seat which was quite comfy and in addition we were sitting just beside the skating rink. Looking at people skate while we enjoy our food one of the simple pleasure in life.

We were told that they have a 1-for-1 margarita promotion that day. My friend and I decided to give it a try. This was my first time drinking margarita and I liked it. It had a fruity taste of mango and the alcohol level wasn't very high too.
We ordered a bottomless tostada chips which was recommended by my friend. According to her, it is a must order starter. I agree with her! The chips was crispy and not salty and when eaten together with the salsa sauce the sour and tangy taste of salsa complemented the bland chips well. I ordered Blazin Burger which was 4 mini beef burgers served together with onion ring, homestyle fries and tartar sauce. The beef was grilled well and juicy, the onion rings were dulcet and the fries were thick and juicy. Definitely one of the better fries I ever had. My friend ordered Southern Smokehouse burger and the beef was grilled to medium rare. Juicy and tender. YUMM...

Overall, I will definitely visit Chili's again. They really have scrumptious food, comfy environment and they do not charge sevice charge -depending on the food you order- even though they have a great service! smile Even though the price may be a little expensive, but it was all worth it smile
