Fried Seafood Platter!  Smile Jul 15, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American | Seafood | Halal | Kids-Friendly

It was my first time at The Manhattan Fish Market after reading some positive food reviews about Manhattan Fish Market. I was sat at next to the glass panel and the whole skating rink was in my line of vision. How lucky I am smile

There have this seafood platter promotion for 2 pax and 4 pax. If you order the promotion platter they have 2 complimentary soup of the day and garden salad. They also have a 1-for-1 promotion for their mocktails and 50% off any sides.
We ordered the fried platter for 2 despite having 3 pax. The fried platter includes fried fish nuggets, shrimps, calamari and fried country mushrooms, served on a bed of Garlic Herb Rice and chips with broccoli and carrots.
As we are afraid insufficient food to go around, we ordered another pasta - chick oglio.

The fried platter was surprisingly very good! lol It was the best fried seafood I had ever eaten in my life. The fish was very crispy on the outside and tender and moist inside. It didn't have the unwanted fishy smell. The rest of platter tasted as good as the fish too! The french fries were very tasty too! It was the thick and fat fries instead of those skinny ones. Best fries I'd ever eaten! In conclusion: the seafood platter is impeccable. ^0^

Although Manhattan Fish Market serves mostly seafood, I must say that their chicken aglio oglio was also very delicious. The chicken wasn't overcooked and it was tender and succulent. The spaghetti wasn't too oily and it was perfect aglio oglio I am looking for! lol Found the aglio oglio of my life, it had a strong black pepper taste, not too oily, the spaghetti was also springy and not overcooked.

Well, the garden salad was normal. Nothing to be excited about.
For the mocktails, we ordered the ruby ___ *i forgot the name* and cala cala. I prefer cala cala as it was a little sour and more refreshing. It was also compatible with the fried food I'd eaten, helps to clear my oily palate tongue. The ruby drink was too sweet for my liking and it tasted like bandung. shocked

After finishing the meal, my conclusion was, I would definitely want to go back to Manhanttan Fish Market again! lol

Hong Kong Food. Smile Jul 14, 2012
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum | Roasted Meat

Canton Paradise serves hong kong dishes and all day dim sum. The interior was classy and oriental. It is definitely a good place for catch up with friends after a long day at work or a place to indulge in sumptuous food after a tiring day.

I went there with my parents to have our dinner. I ordered the recommended noodles dish - Jumbo Prawn Wanton Noodles. As the name suggests, the prawn dumplings were quite big and the prawns were succulent and juicy. YUMZ..lol The soup and noodles were not too oily and were light and flavoursome. It fitted my palate well.
Other than the wanton noodles, we ordered some dim sum too. They include carrot cake, osmanthus chestnut cake and deep fried prawn and mango - I kinda forgotten the name >< -.
The carrot cake and osmanthus chestnut were very tasty. Not a disappointment at all. However, the deep fried prawn and mango was a total disaster. I'm not a fan of mayonnaise at all when I bit it the mayonnaise came gushing into my mouth. The taste mayonnaise was very strong and sort of destroyed my mood for good food. Thinking of it upsets my appetite, I really dislike mayonnaise sad But for mayonnaise fans, do give it a try. The dish actually tasted quite good.

Seafood Aglio Oglio Smile Jul 08, 2012

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant

TCC was having its promotion 1-for-1 for its main course or pasta. My friends and I decided to head down and enjoy its food and offer. It was also my virgin experience at TCC.

I ordered seafood aglio oglio while my friend ordered pan-fried salmon. The pan-fried salmon was tasty, the skin was very crispy and cracklings could be heard when I chewed it. This showed how crispy was it tongue However, the salmon meat was a little overcooked as it was a tiny weeny dry and tough. Overall it was still a thumbs up chopstick

My seafood aglio oglio was superb too! lol I'm a huge friend of chilli and love spicy food, I find the spiciness was just right. It was enough to make my lips feel a little hot but not too spicy till my eyes start to tear. The scallops and prawns were tasty too. They weren't overcooked and were succulent. However, I did find the spaghetti a little dry for my liking. But overall, I did enjoy the long awaited pasta - I didn't know know, but I waited 30 minutes for my spaghetti sad -
Seafood aglio oglio had 3 chillis on the menu and also a healthier choice logo making it a healthy and delicious meal without guilt! smile

My friends and I shared the dessert, Raspberry mousse -$9.90 which was a new item. It was rather disappointing because it turned out to be just an inch thick layer of mousse atop a think layer of raspberry sponge cake. Although the mousse had a strong chocolate taste but it weren't enough to blow my mind away.. For the price and the quality, I find it unreasonable. sad

Will I go to TCC again to try out the rest of the food? Yes, I will! smile Especially the desserts referring to chocolate devotion and the beverages. lol

CAKES!  Smile Jul 03, 2012
Categories : Japanese | Bakery

My father bought these delicious looking cakes from yamazaki and I can't wait to try them! All of them looked so yummy and delicious. Since my father bought them, I did not know the flavours of each of the cake and hence I chose one at randomly. My first bite of the cake was just totally mind-blowing. The cake was very soft and it melted in my mouth. The flavour of the cake dispersed slowly in my palate and I tasted a light cheese flavour. The cheese flavour was not very intense and overwhelming. It was just right.

2 thumbs up! smile

Being a huge green tea fan, I was tempted to try out one of the new cakes that Starbucks has introduced recently - Red Bean Green Tea Cheesecake. The contradicting point here is that I dislike cheesecake.

But for green tea, I'm willing to give in everything. I plucked out my courage and ordered the slightly pricey Red Bean Green Tea Cheesecake at $6.50. I was anticipating burst of strong green tea flavour, but when I took my first bite I was very disappointed. sad There isn't any green tea flavour at all. All I could taste was the sweet flavour which came from the red beans. The cheesecake isn't really cheesecake after all. Between the layers of supposedly cheese cakes, lies a layer of sponge cake. This may be the only point which benefits me since I dislike cheesecake. But then again, why is it called cheesecake when it doesn't taste like cheesecake? shocked

The cakes may appear delicious, but they are after all appearances.
