briyani set Smile Jul 22, 2013

Categories : Indian | Malay | Coffeeshop

Was here hoping to try the ayam penyet but it was not opened. so tried the chicken briyani set here instead. also added 2 of the ala carte vege, that cost me around $6 for this set. As usual generous serving of rice, cucumber. I would say in terms of quantity this stall is not stingy at all. I aso asked afor a searate plate of curry gravy and was gladly obliged. The tandoori chicken was a little cold though but the curry mix made up for it. i was lucky the vegetables were just out of the work so it was still hot.

Dim Sum in the HeartLands Smile Jul 22, 2013

Brought mum here for breakfast, was lucky to get a carpark lot coz its usually jammed pack on Saturday and Sunday mornings. You order at the counter area which also displays a full range of fried items from poh piah to egg tart to fried dumpling etc. There is also the steamed items like har gao, siew mai, chicken leg etc. I ordered the chee cheong fun (standard comes with bbq pork), har gao, chicken feet and spare ribs, and century egg porridge. I would say food wise its slightly above average, but the spare ribs is one of the meatier ones that i've tried before. Chicken feet fortunately wasn't too oily as well. Overall you will feel its made fresh on the spot. My bill adds up to $11 + $1.80 for 2 cups of coffee (buy it next stall beside dim sum but also from TBP).

Mixed Soup Awase-Aji Smile Jul 22, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Ramen

I came by to utilize my online voucher. The set includes Ramen Santouka's Signature Special Mixed Soup Ramen (Awase-Aji) Set - Includes Char Siu, Tamago, Menma, Rice & Hojicha Tea. The mixed soup means combination of salt, soy sauce and soybean soup base. Really like it, its like a all in one taste, leaving you feeling that the soup is thick and full of goodness. Meat though it loses out to their signature pork cheek, is still a good companion to the soup. The ramen was nicely cooked, leaving a chewy bite. The bamboo shoots were not too salty and to have 1 full tamago is such a blessing. This set cost $15.90 before taxes.

We sat outdoors, which is still sheltered and you get to listen to the live band of the mexican restaurant next door. But not so much to my liking smile

Floating Anchovies OK Jul 22, 2013
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Hawker Centre | Noodles

$4 signature set meal is my choice of lunch at this not-so-crowded hawker centre. What you get is yam rice, duck meat, tau kuah, half an egg,6 peanuts and a bit of kiam chye. Always remember to try out the chilli provided which includes anchovies inside but less the oil. if the queue and crowd permits, spend some time fishing the floating anchovies smile Soup is herbal based, but pretty much standard yukee style.

Share with all the prices Kopi $1.40, Kopi-O $1.30, Teh Bing $1.80 and teh c is $1.50. 2 slices of toast bread will cost you $1.90 with the standard kaya and butter. Nice cosy place just like YaKun at B1, in fact the big mirrors on the wall gives the place an illusion of being very big. i must say the coffee and teh c standard is not as good as YaKun though. But the toast bread is comparable. Way of ordering is pay at the counter, collect a queue number and wait to be served.
