Sarang OK Mar 19, 2013
Categories : Korean | Restaurant | Kids-Friendly

Had my dinner with my girlfriend at Sarang last weekend. As it was still early, not much crowd .

Yu zi Drink - Cool and refreshing

Side dishes - consist of kimchi, sauteed peanut.

- Marinated Beef - Served on a hot pan, but to my disappointment, it was quite cold when it was served.

Korean vermicelli - Very well cooked. One of the best dishes here.

Seafood Pan Cake - Quite a huge portion and was filled with seafood.

Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup - Definitely not the best that i had. Too blend.

Authentic Thai Food OK Mar 15, 2013
Categories : Thai

After hearing quite abit about Nakhon's great tasting Thai food, decided to give it a try.

When we got there, there was not much of a queue but one promptly formed after we were seated, so I'm glad we got there when we did.

We ordered the clear tom yum soup, green mango salad, kang kong and the jungle curry.

The dishes:

Green mango salad - tasted quite fresh but too sour for me. ( although i understand from my friends that it supposed to taste this way)

Clear tom yum soup (chicken) - tasty without being overly spicy.

Kang kong - This was a good tasting dish as well

Jungle curry (beef) - Not Bad , but can be better

Overall for the price that i am paying, it is quite a good meal.

Supper Joint OK Feb 28, 2013
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

Situated at Heartland Mall, Xin Wang has always been a popular dinner/supper joint. This xin wang cafe is larger than the norm, with more sofa seats to offer. I ordered the signature seafood fried rice and stir fried four season beans. I find the fried rice a little too saltish to my liking, probably too much dark soy sauce judging from the darkness of the rice grains. But it was nice that they have anchovies, prawns and sotong (well i paid $10 for this hahaha). The four season beans were more well prepared, crunchy with the fried shrimps. It definitely a rice's best buddy in my opinion. Anyway i'm starting to feel that xin wang is always a noisy place with chatters talking away. So if you want a quiet place to dine, better pass on this.

Shi Wei Tian OK Jan 03, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Peranakan / Nonya | Restaurant | Seafood | Kids-Friendly

I was along Joo Chiat Place and saw this restaurant which their signature dish is the Chow Tar bee Hoon ( burnt bee hoon?) . It was quite a hot day so since the restaurant was quite empty(even though it is lunch time. Maybe because the place is quite inaccessible ) and most importantly, it was air conditioned , i decided to give it a try.

Sambal Fried Rice - Quite a large serving. Tasted not bad

Lime Juice with Aloe Vera

Overall, it was quite ok, better than those of a zi char stall.

Fish & Chips on the go OK Dec 19, 2012
Categories : English

Bought their Beer Batter Fish & Chips combo for lunch. It comes with a free sauce of your choice ( i thought sauces are normally free??) and a can drink.

It was quite a huge portion. Quite a number of bite size fish fillet in the meal bag. The fish fillet are coated with quite a thick layer of batter coating and same goes to the fries. Though it is more like a snack but it was quite filling
