High Tea @ Din Tai Fung Smile Sep 02, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Dim Sum

Went for a quick bite at Din Tai Fung. It was around 3.30pm in the afternoon so there wasn't a long queue which you will normally see during lunch or dinner time.

Golden Crispy Prawn Pancake - The sliced pancake was crispy and it was filled with minced prawn paste.

Steamed xiao long bao with crab roe - The skin was thin. The " soup" within the xiao long bao was rich in crab roe flavor.

Hidden gem in Nex Smile Aug 02, 2013

Categories : Seafood

Had been to NEX a couple of times but only discovered this restaurant recently.

Lobster Bisque - Thick , Creamy with tiny bits of lobster flesh.

Prawn Aglio Olio - One of the best that i had tried. The flavor is just nice without me having to add in any more seasoning . The prawns was of a reasonable size but most importantly, they were fresh and crunchy!

Beef Tenderloin - Very tender and juicy.

After my last satisfying visit to this restaurant, decided to have my dinner here again for the 2nd time and it never fails to disappoint me. Ordered the deep fried river shrimps, cha soba, sashimi and California hand roll as per my last visit. Still as good as before. I had also ordered some new dishes to try out
Deep Fried Beef with Cheese

Deep Fried Beef with Cheese

Crispy outer layer with melted cheese inside. Cheese lovers, this is a must-try dish!
Salmon Mentaiyaki

Salmon Mentaiyaki

The salmon was grilled nicely with a huge amount of mentai.

The first time i visited this restaurant was because of my cousin's wedding. I found the food very nice so decided to bring my fiancee to try them out.

The service staff was very friendly. The moment we were brought to our seat, the staff asked us what kind of tea we would like. I thought serving free chinese tea was very common in chinese restaurant, so i asked for the chrysanthemum tea. Never that i thought that the pot of tea actually cost me $12! I think it would be better if the staff remind us before we ordered rather to catch me off guard when i received the bill. Other than this ordeal, the food was really good.

Pig’s Intestines with Preserved Vegetables in Soya Sauce
Braised with soy sauce, the pig intestine was soft and chewy. They cooked it really well as it does not have the foul smell of intestine at all. ( $9.90++)

Sautéed Prawns with Pineapple - Deep fried prawn sauteed with sweet and sour pineapple sauce. Even the pineapple was deep fried and it really goes well with the prawns. Highly recommended ( $18++)

Braised Squid, Bamboo Shoots and Mushrooms in Thick Soup - I am a big fan to thick soup. The squid was fresh and chewy. The thick broth was sweet ( due to the freshness of the squid) and the bamboo shoots & mushroom add on to the texture of the soup. One thing to note that they only served this soup in 4 pax serving. Well, it was really good so even with only me and my fiancee, we managed to finish to the last drop! ( $18++)

Very Nice Food Smile Apr 21, 2013

Categories : Japanese

had my lunch after wedding photo selection at tampopo. Had been hearing good comments from my friends about this restaurant so decided to give it a try. It was indeed a good decision try them out.

Black Pork Tonkutsu Ramen ( cant remember the name correctly) - The soup was thick and tasty. The ramen was spongy and not to hard. The corns was very sweet too! The sliced black pork was chewy and fresh!

Deep Fried Cuttlefish - Fresh , spongy and sweet! One of the best that i had tried.

Cheesed Baked Beef Curry Rice - 1st time trying cheese with curry . It was marvellous . The cheese was very fragrant and it brings out the curry well!

Overall, it was a very good meal although the price is quite steep. ( Worth to pay for such food though)
