Curry chicken Smile Jul 26, 2013

Categories : Indonesian

I never knew this Indonesian café existed in cineleisure until my Indonesian friend suggested having lunch there instead of food court. It was lunch time but surprisingly there weren't many people there, in fact we even found seats and tables for 6 of us. I've never tried Indonesian food before so I ordered the chicken curry ($5.50) as it looks rather appetizing! I don't have a high tolerance for spicy food so I was hoping that it will not be spicy.

My curry chicken was served with curry chicken on a little "stove" with fire underneath and also with a plate of rice. The curry chicken was kept warm for the first 10 mins before the fire eventually died out. There's also a small piece of potato and carrot with the curry as well. The potato was abit hard but I let it simmer in the curry for awhile before eating it. There's 2 pieces of chicken and it's more than enough for one person! There was alot of meat!! Oh, and the curry wasn't spicy at all!! There was a nice subtle taste of spiciness to provoke the taste buds. My friends who ate the same set commented that it's good too! The rice also came with a small plate of chilli. Good to try the curry chicken if you're heading there for a meal!

An afternoon meal Smile Jul 26, 2013

Pastamania never fails me for their affordable yet tasty food. I was so delighted to know that they were going to open a branch in Jem, which means I get to have my pasta fix with having to go to other outlets which are further away!

I went to have my meal at a very unlikely hour of 3.30pm even though I already had my lunch but I was just hungry and craving for some baked rice! Pastamania was having a student discount of 25% off mains (pastas and pizzas) from 2pm to 5pm! I got dory baked rice (original price $8.90) and a dessert, Choco Italiano ($4.70).

The choco italiano came shortly after I made payment and went back to my seat. I started on the dessert first because I was too hungry and desserts should always be eaten fresh! Choco italiano is basically just like brownie with chocolate sauce drizzled on top. It tasted really nice when it was warm!! The dory baked rice came around 10 mins later, when I was finishing up with my dessert. The baked rice was nice too, but could be better with more dory fish! smile

Overall, I enjoyed my meal a lot! There weren't any crowd at all during the late afternoon timing. I paid $11.40 for my meal in total.

wanton mee!  Smile Jul 24, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Noodles

I just simply love coming here to eat after movies because it is a cheaper alternative to other cafes/restaurants in cineleisure, and avoiding the crowd at the food court!

I love wanton mee, and it's quite difficult to find good ones in town, so pontian wanton mee is next to best! Ordered 2 sets with my friend and 1 set costs $4.80 and comes with a drink! I prefer my wanton mee with tomato sauce as it adds some flavour to it. Got the water chestnut for my drink and it tasted pretty good! Not too sweet but refreshing. I didn't really like the lime juice that my friend got as it's abit too sour for me. The wanton mee was springy and nice! But I think that more char siew should have been added! I prefer the wanton in the soup more than the fried wanton as the fried wanton wasn't crispy anymore when it was served.

Spending per head: Approximately $5(Dinner)

Curry fishhead! Smile Jul 24, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop | Zi Char

I've been to the coffeeshop for quite a few times and every time I'm there, my parents would order the curry fish head. On a Sunday eveing, we went to the neighbourhood to have dinner there as all other coffeeshops were closed. There wasn't much crowd at 6pm so it was still quite good!

We ordered 4 dishes to go, plus 4 plates of rice. We had king pork ribs, hotplate egg tofu, curry fish head and a large bowl of soup! The food came within 10mins of ordering, the curry fish head came last when we were eating halfway. The pork ribs were nice and crunchy, not too hard to bite on. I love the hotplate tofu! It was still sizzling hot when it was sent to our table and the egg tofu were soft and silky to taste! The curry fish head was of a right spiciness for me and I really enjoyed it a lot. It has a whole fish inside and we almost couldn't finish it. The soup has a nice taste but could be made hotter when served. In total we spent $52!

Gong Cha Coffee Milk Tea Cry Jul 24, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Went there not long after the opening and just my luck, there was a really long queue at gong cha and they were understaffed as there's only one person taking orders and another one more making the drinks. I waited close to 25mins from queueing till getting my drink.

I ordered the $4.10 gong cha milk coffee to try, because it has a recommended sign there. But it tasted really normal, nothing extraordinary or to rave about. And I think it's too expensive, it tasted just like coffee milk tea and the price of other milk teas were just in the range of $2+ to $3+.
