I love Honeymoon Dessert!!! If I ever need to recommend a dessert place to my friends, I'll definitely choose them. Why? There's a huge range of desserts, cold and hot, and there're fruity refreshing ones for hot days, and also warm desserts for rainy cold days. The ingredients they use are definitely real and not syrupy.

Another good thing about its menu is that it states exactly what is inside your little bowl of divine dessert goodness, so you can somewhat imagine what it is like before you're served.

Yesterday I tried this new dessert (actually not very new, because I saw it the last time I came and didn't try it) - "Coconut Juice Sago & Grass Jelly with Green Tea Ice-Cream". You can also choose Vanilla Ice-Cream. smile It is so good I'm wish I have an endless supply of this dessert for the rest of my life. I'm still thinking about it right now *drools*

Okay - why is it good? I think the best part about this dessert is the mix of the ice-cream flavour (in this case green-tea) with the coconut milk. I love coconut milk a lot, it's fattening but it's so good! There's also things I love like the grass jelly cubes and sago, and this combination is really refreshing, sweet, and everything a perfect dessert should have. The ice-cream also melts pretty slowly as it is perched in the cold mixture of grass jelly and coconut milk. It is $5.80, a bit expensive as compared to the other desserts available (there's stuff from around $3 to $6), but I think it is really worth it because it keeps you full for quite a while because of the coconut milk.

Warning - if you don't like coconut milk this will probably taste horrible to you... Not to worry there are many other desserts available here at Honeymoon Dessert!!! I also spotted a $25 double-boiled bird nest ;O Looks so heavenly but too expensive for me T_T

Not my first visit here and definitely not my last too.

This place might be quite crowded and have to wait in line for a while, but the waiters will give you a menu that will keep you entertained as you'll be looking at all the many available choices smile

Yummy mocha frapp! :)  Smile Feb 14, 2013

Categories : American | Coffee

I really enjoyed this mocha frapp a lot (without whipped cream) because the caffeine is strong, the chocolate taste is strong, and it doesn't get any diluted even to the last drop. The baristas are really cheerful and friendly even though there was a long queue. It also proves that it's still awesome to have cold coffees on cold days smile You can bring your Starbucks coffee into the Students Activity Centre and enjoy it over a good book or maybe... homework. smile

Definitely my favourite coffee - mocha frapp! smile $5.20 for one cup but it's really extreme comfort food that makes me awake and happy.

Soup Spoon - My Safe Choice.  Smile Feb 09, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant | Vegetarian | Chinese Soup | Western Soup | Halal

Whenever my friends and I are undecided where to go for lunch, Soup Spoon (if available) is the safest choice to go for. This was what happen yesterday when Kim Gary was closed for Chinese New Year and we had to seek an alternative in Vivo City for lunch!

I must really remember to bring my Soup Spoon card everywhere I go! Their cards cannot be combined. It's really good because for every $10 spent, you earn 100 points ($5 = 50 points) and for every 100 points, you can redeem $1 next time. In summary, 90% discount.

I bought the Velvety Mushroom Stroganoff Soup, by far my favourite flavour. There are also other flavours like Tangy Tomato, Meatless Minestrone and Simon & Garfunke that I tried on previous occasions, but nothing beats good old mushroom soups. Or maybe I'm just traditional...

Why I like it: Not much physical 'ingredients' but the thick thick mushroom taste really makes me feel very very happy when I eat it! Like you can feel the quality, the saturation of the amount of mushrooms put in to make this.

Tangy Tomato is on the sour side for me, while Meatless Minestrone has many many ingredients, including those I don't like (eg. cauliflower). The meat in Simon & Garfunkel is a bit too tough for me, not the tender sort.

You can top up $4.80 to make it a meal (ie. + one more sandwich and a drink) but be forewarned, if you're not a huge eater, please don't do that. Don't belittle that bowl of soup, it has the ability to fill you right up for the whole afternoon if you're having it for lunch.

This was what my friend bought (she can eat quite a lot) - she topped it up to make it a meal:

Smoked Salmon Sandwich. To which this isn't as good as the specialised sandwich shops along Raffles Place but in itself, it's pretty good.

Boston Clam Chowder Soup. The taste is on the 'light side' and not bad. If I were to rank, it'll probably be the second best flavour after Velvety Mushroom!

Overall the experience at Soup Spoon is really enjoyable and I'll definitely come back for more (and to use my discounted prices)! What a good marketing strategy.

Surprising French delight.  Smile Dec 28, 2012

Categories : French | Restaurant | Seafood | Steaks and Grills | Burgers and Sandwiches

Saveur is an elegant cafe in a street near Bugis, with every dish a potential conversation-topic starter. The decor is really quaint, with wall decals to give it the European feel. This is my first time dining French cuisine, and also with Open Rice's food tasting session! lol

French cuisine is not one of those food that I'll choose if given a variety, because it just seems so foreign! If you're just like me, and never tried French cuisine before, I'll recommend Saveur as a starting point because they serve such beautiful and delectable dishes. I will introduce the dishes Saveur offer, as well as those dishes that I think I prefer and would order the next time I bring my friends to try. Here is the menu:
Saveur's Menu

Saveur's Menu

There are basically a few sections: Appetizer, Main Course, Desserts, Drinks and Special. There's something really special about all the sections - you can see a consistent appearance of duck and tangerines throughout some of the dishes.

Appetizer
Appetizer: Duck Salad (Top), Bread & Butter (Bottom)

Appetizer: Foie Gras (Top), Saveur Pasta (Bottom), Duck Rilette (Right)

Appetizer: Foie Gras (Top), Saveur Pasta (Bottom), Duck Rilette (Right)

We ordered some of the appetizers like Duck Salad, Duck Rilette, Saveur's Pasta and Foie Gras. Saveur also served us bread and butter while we were agonizing over what to order - all of them look so appetizing (no pun intended)! Each of the dishes look so pretty! Totally Instagram-worthy.

Duck Salad ($5.90++): This is really a surprise. I actually finished the whole dish of vegetables, which is drizzled with this tangy sauce that complements the salad really well. The strips of duck are also sauteed to the perfect flavour that is neither too salty or too bland. If you are getting ready to order more filling main courses and desserts, this will be an ideal choice because it really prepares you for what that is to come without wasting precious stomach space! ;)

Duck Rilette ($7.90++): The row of biscuits are meant to be spread with the sauce at the side. The sauce itself is really well-made and flavourful. However I think it's a little too much to finish for one person, so it'll be best ordered as a group to be shared around.

Foie Gras ($7.90++): This delicacy is something that requires an acquired taste. The taste is a little too strong for me, but I think I'm just not used to it.

Saveur's Pasta ($4.90++): I liked this a lot. But I find it kind of strange that an appetizer has such a huge serving! I would think that this is enough as a main course smile I might just come back to eat this. The pasta's really springy and the flavour just gives you this blessed feeling! Ideal if you just want to eat this and try the desserts lol

Bread and Butter ($2++): Ideal as a starter and also to break the flavour during the course of the whole meal.

Main Course
Main Course: Duck Confit

Main Course: Pork Belly (Left), Pan-Seared Sea Bass (Right), Beef Short Ribs (Bottom)

Main Course: Pork Belly (Left), Pan-Seared Sea Bass (Right), Beef Short Ribs (Bottom)

For the mains, we ordered the Pork Belly ($10.90++), Pan-Seared Sea Bass ($14.90++), Beef Short Ribs ($14.90++), as well as the signature Duck Confit!

The Duck Confit ($10.90++) is what I ordered, and I must say that it is really really nice that makes you want to keep eating until it's all gone! It is a little salty, so the tangerines at the side made a good combination to ease the taste a little. The meat is quite tender (could be even more tender though).I love the mushrooms scattered at the side too. The flavour permeates the whole mushroom flesh itself and you won't taste the raw mushroom taste. All three components come together in a great combination. I can tell why this is the signature dish. smile

Desserts
Dessert: Textures of Citrus

Ooh! My favourite part of every meal. Desserts are a MUST at Saveur, which includes very special and self-concocted dishes you won't find anywhere else!!! We ordered all 4 of the desserts available, and I must say I enjoyed every bit of the desserts smile

The first one is the super photogenic dessert, called the Textures of Citrus ($6.90++). The name caught my eye immediately – it definitely stands out as a very unique dessert! When it came, I was immediately awed by the colourful display with all the pretty summer colors red orange and yellow! *cameras out* The orange clump in the middle is actually blood orange jelly (quite sour) with specks of citrus bits sprinkled around! It’s really fun to eat each bits and guess what you are eating. Cheers you up immediately when you see it too. Love this!!!

The second one is the obligatory chocolate dessert (well, almost everyone loves chocolate) called the Chocolate and Hazelnut ($7.90++). It’s decorated with a piece of chocolate lodged into a hill of chocolate mousse goodness, almost like a chocolate yacht and also a tail of hazelnut sauce. The whole dish is very chocolate, and a bit too sweet for me since I like dark chocolate. Nevertheless, it’ll definitely be a haven for chocolate lovers.

The third one is another unique one – the Pistachio Panna Cotta ($6.90++)! A lavish layer of pistachio bits toppings on top of olive-green pistachio-flavoured cream. It’s really indulging and I like how the pistachio taste is very strong and quite interesting to taste it in a dessert rather than as a nut ;) It’s a really creative dish!

The fourth one is called Cookies and Milk ($9.90++), appearing as a clouded foam, but there is definitely more to meet the eye as you dig into the froth – with lots of different ingredients hidden inside to surprise you. There’s a cookie dough ice-cream, there’s peanut butter, there’s also bits of alcoholic (tastes like rum but could be something else) cherries in there. I like this one too, but it diminished quite fast cos’ everyone love it too… :’( I will order one big one for myself next time!!!

I like the service, prompt and alert to clear our table after each course. Really appreciate it because otherwise, our table would be too small to contain all the plates smile

Saveur is a 10 minutes walk away from Bugis MRT - walk towards Shaw Towers, turn into one of the small streets called Purvis Street. Alternatively, check a map. ;D

Birthday at Pizza Hut :D :D :D  Smile Oct 27, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Pasta | Halal

We celebrated two of our friends' birthdays at Jurong Point's Pizza Hut!!! I love Pizza Hut because the birthday service is always so awesome. I swear, they are the best at surprising people because they just suddenly spring out of nowhere with the birthday cake, that even I, not the birthday person, get surprised!!! Their birthday song is also very loud, which makes the whole thing a very joyous occasion smile

We ordered a lot of things, including a main course for each of us (there were 7 of us), as well as the Pizza Hut fries and chicken wings. It was really just as good as expected, the fries is wonderful, the chicken wings are super delicious as usual!!! Just that the soup of the day wasn't the usual mushroom soup T_T I wished it was, because I prefer that one. The one that we had was the Chinese-soup looking soup, I think it was something like vegetable and carrot soup. Anyway it was also not bad but I would prefer the mushroom one. I ordered Chicken Baked Pasta, my favourite. A bit gelat but it was really delicious while it lasted.

The service was prompt and polite, and the waiter was also quite flexible in his response.

I really enjoyed the experience here at Pizza Hut (not my first time here and every single time they perform well) Jurong Point branch. I would definitely come here again during special occasions.
